People are complaining as if he just started sampling Naija artists recently, No, he has been doing this way before. He had sampled DBanj, Flavor Nabania and a few others. A few years ago in an interview in his home country Tanzania he did confess that he had been borrowing a leaf from the Naija artists and he openly admitted that he owes much of his international success to collaborating and understudying the Nigerians. We just have to leave him alone since all that he’s doing is simply translating the Naija hits into his native Swahili and nothing more. It’s well.

As an East African, I'm proud to say that we look up to Nigerian music and art A LOT! As a matter of fact, Nigeria has put the rest of Africa on the global map. Nigerians are musical geniuses and fine, what Diamond is doing isn't right at all, but this shouldn't separate both cultures. Share your blessing. You should hear some of the original music that comes from this side. Nothing more than a lullaby. I wish Africa could be more like Jamaica, in Jamaica a producer makes a public domain beat, everyone hops on it and it's called a riddim. In Africa it's called theft. But I guess business first right?

    • @Nat-wu4kj

West Africans sing Afro beat which has cultural and historical significance to West Africans, what's the point of copying others? Tanzians love their music, the Naija wave is just a problem in Kenya. A few artistes like Diamond are the ones embarrassing Tanzanians by copying Naija music

    • @mrshilling
      @mrshilling Год назад +2

@@Nat-wu4kj Actually, afrobeat is NOT nigerian or west african, otherwise it would have been called Naijabeat...in case you didn't know, the "Afro" in Afro beat stands for AFRICAN which means it's a genre of music that incorporates AFRICAN soul and jazz instrumentation. It doesn't matter where in Africa it's produced from. Read a book. 🤷‍♂

    • @Nat-wu4kj

Whatsoever. You need to do some research. Why then does Diamond have to copy the Naija version of Afrobeat? Don't we have Afrobeat in Tanzania if it's a continental style as you stated 😂? Why doesn't go ahead and show us the TZ Afrobeat? What's the obsession with stealing Naija music?

Diamond is a talented artiste, no one can deny that.
He's just inspired by those songs and probably decided to lift some ideas to make something unique of his own.
Who knows, he might have already contacted the artistes' or labels to which these artistes are signed to before acfually recording/releasing those songs.
Africa (Nigeria), let's halt the hate and support one another. If the owners of these songs never complained, why would people make it as if their lives depended on it?
We all know Nigeria has the biggest music industry in Africa, at the continental level, no doubt. Africa's musical experience outisde its periphery, has been monopolized by Nigerian artistes and labels for at least, a decade plus; to date. Why is that? Because other Africans support your artistes enormously. Please, appreciate our support too. Nigerians alone couldn't have sold out Afrobeats to the level it is today. It was a continental (mainland Africa's) effort. ❤

I appreciate your kind words, you see a lot of older Nigerian artists paid the price for the success of afrobeats today, most of them are still impoverished but they laid the foundation. Check out the old videos of diamond when he was singing in the style of Eastern African music style but immediately afrobeats blew he fraudulently rode on it because what he did is not sampling but daylight robbery.
Afrobeats was born out of the zeal of Nigerians to listen to pop, hip-hop music in naija style and it took time for it to be acceptable in Nigeria first, after Nigerians accepted it in Nigeria the music then naturally traveled to where Nigerians are overseas, mainly UK and the USA. With the help of artists like Chris Brown and Kanye west who supported artists like dbanj and Mohits crew.
The journey to the success of afrobeats is a long painful journey with some good naija artists falling by the way, so it's immoral to copy outrightly.
The name afrobeats was used in London then to categorize all the music from naija and the name stuck.
Just like reggae from Jamaica I see no problem with other people using the style but don't boldly plagiarize.

Last time i checked copying was Using exact words of a whole song and redoing it exactly as it is, but if you just take two words from an entire song how is that copying???
BurnaBoy sampled so many song why are they not onto him????
Diamond will always make Nigerians cry and he knows where to hit them hard.
