1:21:46 U can definitely see the growth in Music To Driveby (classic) but Straight Check’n Em is my favorite CMW album. The production was 🔥 but it was still super raw.
Bobby Jimmy and the critters, Rus Par, Rappin Duke, Dr. Dre and the Reckin Crew, and Uncle Jams Army were like the original architects of West Coast hip hop, setting the stage for the genre's rise. However, when "6 in the morning" was released, it was a game-changer that revolutionized the scene. Compton became the epicenter of West Coast hip hop, much like Queens and the Bronx were for the East Coast. Artists like King Tee, Mix Master Spade, Quik, and Eight were the trailblazers of the West Coast sound, transporting us back to the era of Radio Shack mixers and turntables. 💯
Masterly said by Eight, KDAY is where I heard that Rock tha bells mixed with peewees dance for the first time. So figure that year out, then one day at a record store I ran across an album with two brothers with Jheri curls behind a fence looking like an imitation NWA group, I snatched that album to hear what these brothers had to say!
