    am a computer science student at cairo university, our course in the linear algebra isn't good at all. Most of my collages watch ur videos to be able to now what the linear algebra is, Thank u so much for this awesome playlist, an extra note, We used to call u "Tant", It's an Egyption word that used to be told to women to show respect 😂🥰♥♥♥♥.
    again, Thank u so much, and I hope u continue ur amazing work In the beautiful channel.

      I searched for the meaning of the word Tant, and indeed it is used as a form of respect for old womans, but also means Aunt, and that is incredible, because here in brazil, when we are young we do not refer to our teachers as Mr or Mrs, we call female teachers as Aunt and male teachers as Uncle.

    I'm taking Linear in the fall and these videos have been a tremendous help. I tried following the MIT Linear Algebra videos and just could not follow all of them. Much love and appreciation for your efforts Professor.

    Been using this for the last 5 lessons and have been loving them!! Thank you so much for these videos! They're so short and sweet, and they teach me more than my prof does in 2 hour lectures. Would love to see more videos on the lessons that werent seen in this playlist like 1.9 and 1.10 but thank you so much!

    So, at 12:18 , why did you not multiply row 1 by 8 so you can get rid of the 2 in the second row

    • @chanoukpark
      @chanoukpark Год назад

      That would be a bad choice because if you did that, Row 2 Column 1 would turn to an 8.

    Hi, at 0:41 you wrote Ax = 0. I think it is supposed to be A(vector X) = vector 0.

    So non-pivot columns indicate free variables ?

    Is there only one way to get the matrix in reduced row echelon form?

    • @SawFinMath
      @SawFinMath  2 года назад +4

      There is only one reduced row echelon form. You can get to it a different way, but only one solution

      @@SawFinMath @ 14:24 Why didn't you continue to reduce the 2 in row 2 column 3?That could be made into a zero right?

    10:08 at this point in the video you just take row1 and subtracted by row3 and replaced at row3
    I can't really see how you managed to do it with just a row replacement operation, I can only do it by doing two operations
    - Replacement on Row3 targeting Row1 multiplying with -1 then Scaling Row3 with -1

  • @azhua123
    @azhua123 Год назад

    13:09 why is it -2? are we subtracting?

    your videos are fantastic, but I have to say, the amount of non-skippable ads you put on your educational videos is appalling, it sometimes makes it difficult to grasp the concept when your explanation is interrupted by 30 seconds of ads

    Why did you leave two numbers in column 3 at 13:00?

    • @sl_50
      @sl_50 2 года назад +2

      since x_3 is a free variable (and we're left with an all-zero row at the bottom), there's no matrix row operations you could use to get rid of either of the two values without messing up the pivots. for that reason, the answer is defined with respect to x_3
