Most cars and taxi's can not drop off or pick up outside the main terminal as this is strictly access only for authorised vehicles such as emergency services, security, airport buses and permitted airport taxis. All other vehicles will have to drive past the terminal towards the short stay car park where there is a charge. This is the only place to drop off/pick up. It used to be a minimum of £1 for the first 25 minutes (or something like that) payable on exit. This is one thing that has always been misleading with access at the airport with many cars/taxis dropping off in restricted causing congestion. And another problem is many vehicles waiting for periods of time or even parking completely in the rapid pick up point just inside the car park.
this airport is a complete rip off i went there today to pick a friend up and had to stop at the pick up point as thats the only place you can drop off or pick up only there 10 minutes and got stung for 5 quid daylight robbery absolutely disgusting
