- This was a pretty special moment. After a week of scouring the coasts of India for a decent wave, we loaded onto a local ferry and headed to an island we'd spotted on Google Earth. It was quite a mission, but the wave looked good (from space), breaking through the jetty and reeling on both sides. Dave was sick when we arrived (typical for India travel) and curled up sweating in his boardbag. But when the light and swell came together, he rallied himself, got focused and paddled out for this amazing session.
Castles in the Sky was all about travel and discover, the beauty of hardship and pushing beyond your comfort zone...and this section was the sum of all those parts. What a pleasure watching Rasta's flow and connection with this wave.

Castles in the Sky is a masterpiece
This is by far one of the best clips of modern surfing, perfect waves, light and location, Dave's surfing beyond amazing and oh boy that bamboo deck board, is the board of my dreams
Thx Taylor you are a genius!
I have a replica. Not easy to ride. Super low rails, not a standard fish
@@falakoala4579 what board is that?
@@pathofkarma its a gary mcniel enitiy with bamboo deck which he doesn't make any more
My favorite video all time
Shaper: "How much rocker would you like on this one Dave?"
Rasta: "No thanks"
Thank you for coming to India and representing our beautiful water bodies
If there was a 3hr surf film with this cinematic quality and effortless surfing, i would put it on loop and watch all day!
This wave was pioneered by the local chargers from Mantra Surf Club in Mulki. The photographer Rammohan Paranjape was among others who helped this come together.
I would like to know if parts of it were also shot in Kerala?
@@doc_inthahousekerala and mahabalipuram
I had this movie in my computer, but I lost it. The cinematography deserves an Oscar.
In my opinion, the best part begins in 5:09. Thank you so much for sharing!
Gets better everyyy time I watch this dope film agggaaain!!!! Thxxxxx for makinggg and sharinggg this film...
You can watch these for hours... so soothing
Dave and Kalani’s styles are a great contrast with this amazing background. One of my all time fav clips and by far one of the best films! Brought back so many memories.
This is the best surf section of all time
what a blast for those locals to see you surfing. im sure many were inspired
This is surfing. despite all the great surf film makers that have come out in the recent decade, you Taylor Steele (& George Greenough) remain my favorite. And that's not because I grew up watching your films! This section has got to be one of the best moments in surf film history. Thanks for setting the bar so high few can reach. Castles in the Sky is a masterpiece
Hari Om Tat Sat , Prapatti Da Aloha from Bali and Lombok
Great surfer. Really like his fluid style.
Rasta has One of the most unique styles on the planet,
his boards are tuned to benefit the epic lines. its just magic❗
For me the best part of Castles in the sky movie! Wish to go to Lakedives one day to surf those waves 🙏🤙
Bro me too!
Thanks Taylor, I was waiting for this! My favorite part of all of your movies...
amazing surfers and waves! beautiful! Aloha!
Beautiful .Full stop
🙏🙏🙏
It's always a pleasure seeing Dave surf
This summer I started to get real comfortable with my twinny it has almost no camber like Dave’s board here, it flys down the line takes some getting used to going up towards the lip and blowing tail but practice makes perfect......Rasta is a MASTER with it.🤯
I love twin fins i learned how to surf on one.
dennis parker mine is so fast🔥🚀
@@BigErnMcCracken777 that down the line speed from twin fins. :)
Love twin fins. Weird but before I injured my left knee, I could not go backhand, surfing a twin to safe my life, regular foot. Now I can, odd.
It's a quad
Awesomeness yes yes yes
Google map/Earth is a blessing for finding new spots! Always thought Lakshadweep had potential.
I also found my own secret place in Galle, Sri Lanka this way :p.
Beautifullllllllllllllllllllll❤
Aloha, I loved India but I did not get to surf. Wow amazing film, much love! I just watched this like ten times.
6:59, last wave, very nice surfing/recording job!
Man what great surfing and what a great way to watch it
Glassy conditions I love
very cool flick and great surfing... an epic journey for sure!!
Inspirational!! 🔥
Although I do appreciate Rasta (and Kalani) and that wave, the b-roll footy is amazing.
Are those first swells from Lakshadweep islands?
Hey Dave pleasure know to you! Your vídeo in Índia is fantastic because a lot of documentary about surf, are in famous locals and your movie is out of box. Índia country have big problem social but the natureza e a culture compensao a trip. Parabéns pelo vídeo! Very good! Since excuse my english and big embrancing from south of Brasil.
Tankyou Taylor Steele, um dos melhores filmes de surf para mim.
style master
Rasta is on another level
Damn, not even an ounce of sketchiness, 100% pure style.
Wow such a beautiful video. It makes all my surf travel vlogs look so amateurish. Which spots are these? I think I can recognize Kovalam in Kerala and the right side waves must be on the east coast. Probably Mahabalipuram. Does anybody knows for sure?
Yes. Though the final wave off in the andaman sea is extremely hard to access and very fickle. Which makes this video even more special ❤
Just great! thanks
Those waves look veddy veddy good.
Lindo, fantástico!
Almost no rocker in his boards but they are so small that they become very maneuverable
Lovely 💙
De pelos🤙🤙🤙🤙
we need more surf movies with indian music shits sooo tight
Reminds me of Tom Curren.
It's bliss
Great great videography, I feel like I'm there enjoying the surf trip. Where is this location? Who would have thought India has quality surfing. Thanks for sharing such a great video
hopefully he had has some awesome food out there too.
@@Rao665 Exactlyyyyy!!!!
More than a few guys on tour should take notes of his style, flow, and general approach.
Anyone explored Andaman or Nicobar islands?
Used to love this part
You got the K Robb Extendy float then you got the T Steele Extendy cut! 💯
For his soul he can never be a goofy surfer.
이건 돌고래 신이 잠시 사람의 모습으로 놀러온 것 같은모습이야. 멋져
As flowy as it gets. Nice to see Kalani not riding a stupid soft top.
Rigth
Really loved the way you catch those waves....but the question is where is this place that you surfed in India
#absenceofegogivesdependence #individualfreedomvsrealitydetachment #individualismvscareless #isolatedandhacinated
good vibes
WOW
What location da?
This video is sick , his making that board look amazing , what stick is that ?
guys i m in mangalore right now . i can t find this spot.... info please :)
i didn't even know you record in India without a warm filter
kalani rob rob machado clay marzo they are on another level for sure
RASTA = FULL SPEED
So it's all just content lifted from Taylor Steele? I thought it looked familiar.
What’s he riding? 5’3” ?! Sick!
whats the name of the song at the end?
Did Kalani get the Delhi belly too ?......🤣
nice moments! is this west or east Indian cost ?
looking like Murdeshvar
Some guys will go to great lengths to get away from the crowds.
Not this guy though. India is crowded as hell.
He has such a good style
My favorite part is the two goats jumping in sync
anyone know who did first track with citar music??
ruclips.net/video/wcPv2LZGvuU/видео.html
what is the song starting at 5.14 mark? fits in like a surfboard.
Please if anyone knows the names of those spots that will be great
Hope you didn't get New Delhi belly.......😆🌊🔥
What’s the name of the song that starts in 3:20 ?
"the summer we raised you"
When he shaves he looks like Orlando Bloom
Opening song ?
damn that board looks so flat
Qual a música da última cena?
Why peoole think there's only good surf on Hawaii and the mainland U.S. and other known locations? Im from Panamá and there's lot of places to surf alone..it depends on the quality of the swell...theres a big reason why just lately all the big names discover our place and visiting lately so much. Just pack your stuff and Go 🌊😎
Anyone have any kind of info on that first board he’s riding? Thing looks so sick 🤙🏼
Jump to 1:13.
Hindu evolution includes God but English evolution excludes Him
Minicoy island
kalani still does alright, research tartaria
Speed
How dirty is that ocean there?!
I’m not tryin to be a dick. I actually would
Ike to go there
Lehron ke saath toh koi bhi tair leta hai; par asli insaan woh hai joh lehron ko cheerkar aage badta hai ,
Lol you were told about this wave you didn't 'find' it on GE! It was so much better before the jetty..
Those big waves videos are in our islands... Lakshadweep
Which island of Lakshadweep?
When I die, please set me in a shallow boat and send me out to sea, for I'd prefer the fish and crabs feast on me, and when I float out, on an outgoing tide, just remember, it's not my final ride.
But not out in the surf.
Lol kalani Rob at 3:15?
I cant imagine going into the ocean there with the amount of garbage polluting their waterways.
David King just like California
The water looks pretty clean to me
It’s pretty filthy actually. Getting access to clean water is a huge problem in India. I got super sick with what I diagnosed myself with the “Indian whooping cough”
minicoy island rocks, but its not india its the maldives
It’s India
That 8000 yeurs of culture and tradotiun sure
makes a great backdrop for your meaningless actiun sport bro.. Way 2 colonize that wave
Meaningless action sport!?
Thta made the SPORT Meaningful
I guess you don't surf
Thanks for the video enjoyed watching
Cool comment👍🏼 Worthwhile contribution👍🏼 Why are you watching and commenting on a video about this “meaningless action sport”? If it’s so meaningless...?? You obviously don’t surf, so why are you watching this? Let alone commenting? How about just crawl back to your hole full of culture and tradition and let surfers enjoy watching surfing without your MEANINGLESS contribution!?
