There was a brain games episode where they made a chocolate cake, cut it in half, and then put a sign on one that said it was 100$ and a sign on the other that said it was 10$. Literally every person who tried both said the "100$" one was significantly richer and better in flavor.
I still can never understand how people fall for that. I’ve never had a problem thinking something branded more expensive tasted like crap. I honestly like the concept of "assume made with real fruit = candy". It undoes a lot of the fake associations that food marketing has created in your head.
I am a zoomer and all I have to say is that burgzy is so relatable and funny! If he told me to buy something I would definitely do it because he seems so real and honest!
It's good to see Burgzy back in the game. I had surgery in 2013 to get a juicy patty and thicc buns when Burgzy visited me in hospital. A lot of bottled waters have certain minerals added literally JUST for taste. Many of them are basically just filtered tap water with some minerals added (Dasani, for example, lol).
Even with a higher sugar content per serving, the organic toaster pastries had way less ingredients than the Pop Tarts so probably overall just a touch "healthier".
For marketing Monday, a cool idea might be ranking celebrities on their movie cameos/commercials. Like how well a cameo enhanced an individual's personal brand and brought good pr to the company/movie.

It's kind of odd that some people can't taste the differences in water. Maybe it's because I've drank a wide variety of water in my life, from different bottled waters and tap waters to a variety of spring waters, but I've always felt it was a pretty easy distinction. It's also odd to me that some people can just drink any water and not notice a difference. I live in CO, ands most of the municipal water supplies in the state are quite good, but I deal with this issue every time I go to Denver where the water there literally won't hydrate me properly. I'll start feeling dehydrated so I'll drink more water, but it won't seem to have any effect. Like I'll have a dehydration headache and chapped lips no matter how much I drink. It was particularly bad on New Years when I was there. I finally was able to drink non-tap water, and just one bottle of Dasani of all things managed to hydrate me more than multiple tall cups of water. Now when I go there, I go to a store and immediately buy enough water to last me for my whole time there, because my last experience was genuinely frightening. There's also something about the taste of the Denver tap water that feels dead in a way. Like it just tastes kind of empty and devoid of any kind of sustenance. It's very odd, but only a couple of my friends have actually noticed it. Maybe it's because I never lived in a city growing up. I always lived in places with either a water station that drew water from underground or a small town with an excellent water supply. Regardless, city water really messes me up
Idk ab hose water bc I don’t drink that often, but I could def tell the difference between tap, Dasani, and Brita filtered water. Tap tastes like metal, dasani tastes like plastic, and brita tastes like charcoal. Dasani is the worst by far.
Beef farms typically have calf’s on milk and grain. Most try to introduce grain into the calf’s life as soon as possible so they start getting bigger as soon as possible. Some farms transition onto silage for the final fattening months.
The thing about food marketing vs tech marketing is that not everybody is interested in tech. Not everybody is into the gaming hobby, no matter how big it is. The market is finite. But food? _Everybody_ eats.
Whenever I see that a product is "organic", I just think "Well yes, it's *food*. Of course it contains carbon!". When I see that a product is free from GMOs...well I don't mind GMO crops anyway, so I don't see a problem. Water contains electrolytes? How does that affect it? So...I'm not sure the marketing works on me, since I usually assume whatever selling point they advertise is the norm anyway. As for tasting the difference in water, I can taste the difference between tap water from different parts of my house, and generally prefer both to bottled water. I'd totally fall for any Burgzy related advertising though.
The marketing doesn’t work on you because it seems like you paid attention in science class. Whenever I hear the nonsense claims about GM food, I don’t know whether to roll my eyes or laugh. Nearly all food is genetically modified other than animals that are “wild-caught” aka hunted or fished. If people grow it or people raised it, then it has, at one point or another, been genetically modified. But most people are so scientifically inept that they buy into the organic/gmo scare without knowing or understanding what that actually means. Yeah all those people in your school that would make fun of how boring biology and chemistry is and how they don’t care? They’re the same ones lapping up all this marketing nonsense because they don’t know better.
I love Atrioc, but I have to say, Taco Bell 100% DO change the ingredients the stores have to buy. Every month at my store, we would have to deal with 1 or 2 new ingredients. It was stressful to learn the new prep, the new food safety, the new technique, but I can assure you, Taco Bell definitely does NOT just recycle the same 5 things. Still ily big A
Lobster is my favorite somewhat recent in history success in rebranding. Lobsters used to be so common and cheap that rich people denounced it as commoner food and it was used in prison meals.
I think one recent example of renamings is also Clitoria Ternatea - nowadays being sold as "Butterfly Pea". It used to be named as "Asian Pigeonwings" (in plant journals and on wikipedia you still would find that as the real name, but I assume it will be phased out for the sake of selling blue butterfly tea to people).
I swear to god, Atrioc's email notifications will give me a heart attack, I have to rewind to make sure it is in the video and not my college email telling me I'm getting kicked out
Dude got a lot of things wrong about fda regulation in food. Glyphosate/roundup is used on GMO crops, it stays in the food. All GMO foods must be labeled, it says "contains bioengineered ingredients." Buying organic foods avoids this.
My family tried to pull the blind taste with me on different waters, sodas, and few other drinks. Dasani is fucking gross, coke and pepsi do not taste the same and apple juice tastes like how pee smells. Thank you, I’ll be here all week.
On the pop tart one and in general, the most important thing is to look at the ingredients. Half of Pop Tarts you can't even pronounce, the organic one was probably. a lot more straightforward. Another example - Patagonian Toothfish was rebranded as Chilean Seabass. Tell me even though you KNOW it’s the exact same thing, that your brain is still assuming the Chilean Seabass is just better and you wouldn’t even touch the Patagonian Toothfish.
I live in an area with a pretty heavy Amish population and people are willing to spend twice the money on the exact same product because it says Amish on it, totally blows my mind.
All I gotta say is some water actually tastes different, I personally don't like water and don't tend to drink it too often and when I do have it, it tastes like garbage. But I once went to France and had their tap water, and that made me appreciate the water where I live much more. The tap water in France was Thiccc, like I mean that sh!t was viscous and tasted absolutely awful. I don't really know if it could be counted as tap water, that's more like Tap Goop™. There are for sure no ads that play into the taste of that, it's just straight mineral sauce compared to actual water while being referred to as the same thing.
The first part of the video is pretty exaggerated. Many types of rockfish are frequently called "red snapper," and it's legal to call them that in some west coast states, but there is a real red snapper that's a particular type of rockfish native to the Gulf of Mexico, and in many states labeling other types of rockfish as "red snapper" is fraudulent (even though fraudulent red snapper represents a majority of the market now lol), and that's why they sell for different prices. High Fructose Corn Syrup must be 50/50 or 45/55 glucose and fructose depending on the jurisdiction, but fructose isolate and crystalline fructose are 100% fructose; this is a different tactic and it allows companies to claim fewer grams of sugars are in their products for the same amount of sweetness because fructose is significantly sweeter than glucose (though far less healthy). I'm not as informed on "sky prawns," but I think the name was more of a joke and it's akin to the Americans that try to fish various invasive species out of their rivers more out of civic duty than taste. The dolphinfish bit is true, though to be fair this was partially because people were confused that they were eating actual relatives of dolphins. The second part about photography is very true though. Hope this helped from a fellow Sigma male, but obviously I don't need anyone and just wrote this because I felt like it.
Hmmm this will be good content for me to watch at 2:21am now that I have just finished my economics essay which is due tomorrow and will proceed to eat pop tarts in my kitchen. Thank you Big A.
I always figured the taste of water from water bottles came from the different types of plastics, and maybe the smell of the label and the glue. I personally believe that the biggest factor for determining the taste of water is the temperature and the container (plastic, aluminum, glass, clay, etc). I always figured the reason people thought they can taste the difference in water was because the were comparing the taste of the plastic they drank from, and formed brand affinity with the plasticcy taste they grew the most comfortable with
Burger king is such a wildcard in food marketing. I, and everyone I know shits on it whenever we get the chance; but still end up eating there because its 1/16th the price of any other fast food. We're all broke

The collab of the century
The water thing is because water actually tastes different depending on mineral content, distillation and where the water is sourced from
Saying that all food is essentially the same except for marketing is the kind of insane thing that only a marketer could believe
Atrioc throwing the depression card shade is nice
Hmmm this will be good content for me to watch at 2:21am now that I have just finished my economics essay which is due tomorrow and will proceed to eat pop tarts in my kitchen.
Thank you Big A.
I always figured the taste of water from water bottles came from the different types of plastics, and maybe the smell of the label and the glue. I personally believe that the biggest factor for determining the taste of water is the temperature and the container (plastic, aluminum, glass, clay, etc). I always figured the reason people thought they can taste the difference in water was because the were comparing the taste of the plastic they drank from, and formed brand affinity with the plasticcy taste they grew the most comfortable with
Guessing your bus to school was a lil shorter than everyone else’s huh

Burger king is such a wildcard in food marketing. I, and everyone I know shits on it whenever we get the chance; but still end up eating there because its 1/16th the price of any other fast food. We're all broke
