This seems to be just a temporary workaround. Once bent, the piston will never be straight again. The methods used here for straightening or measuring flatness are far from accurate so it seems to be just a way to extend its life just a few months.
Those poor kids having to dunk for them a very heavy piece of steel into an acid bath to strip the chrome plating off with not even gloves or any sort of protective gear at all. Imagine getting that acid onto your bare toes or ankles. I know life is cheap, but that's ridiculous. The oldest one there looked no older than 25 apart from the guy running the chrome plating. Perhaps they all die young because of the dangerous working practices.
