Sperm production is unlimited in the human body, while the number of eggs a woman has is limited.
A fertile man can produce between 40 million and 1,800 million sperm cells in his lifetime. The average number of sperm cells produced per ejaculation is between 80 and 300 million.
A female is born with all the eggs she will have in her lifetime, which is typically around 1-2 million. However, only a small percentage of these eggs will mature into ova, or mature eggs. A woman's egg supply decreases throughout her life, and she will release about 400 eggs during her reproductive years:
    1) Birth
A female fetus has about 7 million eggs in her ovaries by the fifth month of pregnancy. At birth, she has about 1-2 million eggs.
    2) Puberty
By the time a girl reaches puberty, she has about 300,000 eggs remaining, which is enough for a lifetime of fertility.
    3) Reproductive years
During a woman's reproductive years, she will release about 400 eggs, usually one during each menstrual cycle.
    4) Menopause
By the time a woman reaches menopause, she will have virtually no eggs remaining.
