To those of you who are saying this isn't a Samsung Galaxy S2, really needs to go online and look at the different models.... I had one just like this one I bought it through boost mobile its a SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 D710.! THERE IS ANOTHER MODEL THAT HAS THE HOME BUTTON BUT IS THROUGH A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER.... Before you start saying that this is fake do some research, seriously you guys. That's why when you go to buy phone cases make sure you have the right model number of it. Usually if you go into about phone on your device it will show the make and model number..... As far as putting the liquid on (the glue) it's not necessary but if it does crack again it helps it from shattering all apart. I have done some without but I do prefer the glue. I have a s4 now and luckily I haven't had to replace anything only on the s2. It's a tedious process but worth it other than buying a brand new phone......
The double side sticker is for binding the glass to the frame. The LOCA glue is for binding the glass to the digitizer. For professional repair, you need both.
Great video! Looks like A LOT of work considering these phones are now under $100 but I will definitely go take a look at your ebay store and maybe check out some more of your videos while I contemplate doing this job for a friend of mine.
Hey Mr? I reaaly like your video. I have all I need to installed one. a new screen, UV glue, UV glue and adhesive remover, microfiber cloth, mini boxcutters, and UV light also... is that white cloth u used a papermtowel to dry please help... also was tatbyellow cloth that microfiber? and for taking old screen off did u use a wood burner? or can I use a hair dryer
My concern is as you push the glue around the edges it can run into the buttons and then when cured it will seize them. In fact on the s4 their seems to be two tiny holes on the frame that would allow the glue to run into the power button. I notice you placed the uv lamp on the edges first. Is that to prevent the glue running into unwanted areas? Would welcome your opinion on whether this is something we need to be careful of.
Thank you for this video. I checked out your ebay account. Will definitely get my replacement glass from you. But i just want to know if i really need the octopus glue.
Really good - thanks. I'm still wondering if I can do it without wrecking the screen, but even if I did, I could send it to Auckland (2hrs flight away) for professionals to redo it for NZ$150 they say. Thanks for taking the trouble to produce this excellent movie. Bruce Thomson in New Zealand.
How does the glue keep from getting through to the camera, motherboard & all the other components? Ive heard you have to remove all that stuff to keep from damaging them.
The uv glue is cured by UV light. You can use bright sun light for 1 hour. Or you may find a cheap UV flashlight under $10 on eBay. Spot curing first with the flash light, then put it under sunlight for one hour.
where do you get the adhesive remover. it was kind of just a fun project for me to try it did not end up so well the first time around. I got the glass of just fine but when it came time to get the rest of the off of the glass I tried to scrub it off with different solvents until it finally shattered in my hand. I'm going to try it again on my second one while my replacement phone is coming in the mail.
I used turpentine (some solvent) for removing rest of the glass & glue... It worked well, but I broke the lcd-screen when removing the frontglass, I noticed that when I turned the phone on. :(
thanks for this video.. you have proven that I MYSELF should not attempt this. I have the Tmobile skyrocket s2 and my outer screen glass is broken only. many I have called said it would be about 160 because they have to replace to whole assembly because of the way the glass, digitizer and lcd are bonded together. From the looks of it, it can be done without the whole assembly. One guy is asking me to leave my phone with him for a few days... how long does this process typically take overall?
i was told my lcd on my galaxy s2 is broken, would i be able to use this method to repair that too? also how much does it cost for new lcd screen typically?
Why glue the screen to the digitizer? I have an S3 and replaced the glass myself, I only used adhesive for the outside edges. Is there a reason it needs to be glued?
id suggest you use the glue, it makes it much more sturdy and durable once the two come together for good, plus, you avoid leaving any room for air or dust to get into, and assures sure the two are in contact at all times as that might also effect the sensitivity of the touch screen, however if you decide to try it without the glue, let us know what the results are.
I already did it with out the glue on the digitizer. My phone seems to work just as it did before I broke the original glass. So it seems to be working good at the moment but im wondering if I could have problems down the road from dust possibly getting in between it like you said. Ahhh time will tell.
A hair dryer might work, but is less effective than a heat gun (since you cannot control the temperature as well) You need the glue, without it the new screen won't stick. Even if it sticks, the digitizer might not make proper contact meaning your touchscreen won't work.
I tried to do this today. It worked out fine, but when i tried to put on my Phone it didn't give a screen anymore. Do you have any suggestion? I really hope so. thx
it world be nice if you could fix my phoee for me and I have the Gray Front Outer Screen Lens Glass for Samsung Galaxy S 2 Epic 4G D710 TOOL Part if you could how mouch will it cost me to fix it thank you bruce
chef, könntest du zeigen wie ich auf einem galaxy s2 den grossen knopf unten und lautsprecher reparieren (wechseln) kann, habe kein einzige video zum thema gefunden, danke
This process is not 100% guaranteed, the digitizer is so thin that you can break it even if you breath on it....great skill dude! The heat gun can also melt contacts easely.Anyways shame on Samsung... Other phones have the digitizer fused into the glass...this is a pretty fucked up marketing strategy....
I'm lazy, can I just send my phone to you and have you do it :D What would you charge if someone was to have you do it for an AT&T Galaxy S2 II SGH-I777?
So i dropped my galaxy s2 and the screen is black but when i press the homebutton the lights comes on so im wondering do i only need to get a new screen or?
got it fixed last month, the images were being saved in internal space which is why I got delete file connected usb and removed files, working fine now
+22Uzbekistan because if you watch other videos of people doing the same thing, the touch sreen works. the touch part is on the display itself, not the glass
digitiser will brake if you breed on it ..so stupid, i have a s2 9100 i m using it for a week now without the glass straight on the digitiser before i buy the glass.my glass was 80% shattered pieces everywere ,took it off piece by piece with a hair dryier ,a razor blade and gaming cards.digitizer has deep scratches all over because of the pieses of glass.the glue will fill them, but still works fine.conclusion its not that brittle as it looks
Hair dryer does not work sadly, i found out the hard way, i heated it up so much the whole thing came away lcd screen and all and cracked the the lcd in the process which was fine until my so called repair :-(
damn mine got worse it was doing fine screen was perfect I had it charging near me in bed when I noticed a cracking sound my elbow broke the screen and it turned black, seems it wont turn on anymore
Hello, I dropped my S2 accidently and the display is not working. But phone powers on and off, touch keys are working, and even i can answer calls (sliding the answer key by guessing) . The only problem is that the screen is black. so if I replace the screen glass only, will it fix the problem ? What part exactly do i need to replace ? Anyone that can help?

Leigh Bradford this is the same exact Galaxy S2 I have

Thank You. I think it may be time for me to try a glass repair. I've had several people ask me to do glass repairs to their phones.

what tool did you use to fix the screen thank you bruce

can you tell me what type of heatgun you are using and at what temperature please. Thanks
What adhesive remover do you use?

Is that a kit with glas, glue and ready cutted 3m tape? And wehre i can buy it?
Sorry for my english^^
Greetings from germany
U R THE MASTER I LIKE UR SYSTEM
what Glue do you use before u use the Octopus UV Glue thank you
Wonderful work I loved it
Do you need the adhesive remover??? If i buy all the supplies on ebay it is the same as buying a full lcd replacement?!?!?!
It is a heat gun air station. But you can use a hair dryer.
It will work for spot curing. Place the flashlight on the each corner for 30 seconds, then place the phone under bright sun light for one hour.
We don't offer repair service by mail, but may offer in the future because there are a lot of demand.
Fluorescent lamp is suitable or need UV?
Set the temperature around 80C or 180F. Do not hold the gun on the same spot more than 5 seconds.
Hi how much Glue have you added?? 1,5ml or more ?? Thanks
Where can you find the adhesive glue remover?
send me the link to buy those tiny stickers
so do i need the adhesive?? i have been looking and im not sure if its worth it to do it this way if i do need it.. ps: just check your ebay
Where can I buy the adhesive and glass please send a link for galaxy s2 4 buttons on bottom
Good video Ty but one thing becarefull not to pull or break the LCD behind the screen
Did you sell the glue?
i was told my lcd on my galaxy s2 is broken, would i be able to use this method to repair that too? also how much does it cost for new lcd screen typically?
Will this process work with AT&T SII SGH-i777.
Does this also apply to an Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket?
do you sell any grey screens for the tmobile galaxy s2
what kind of material are the card used for separate the lcd? do you have them for sale?
I found that the best one is a think poker playing card.
thank you very much!!!
will this work without the uv light?..if i don't have one what could i do to imitate the effect of the uv?
leave it out in the sun
This is for the i777??
is that a heat gun?
This video is for D710, but the concept is same for most of galaxy phones.
Aprox how much glue are you puting out there?
Why glue the screen to the digitizer? I have an S3 and replaced the glass myself, I only used adhesive for the outside edges. Is there a reason it needs to be glued?
that seems to be really the only thing keeping them toghether
Well I have adhesive all around the edges.
id suggest you use the glue, it makes it much more sturdy and durable once the two come together for good, plus, you avoid leaving any room for air or dust to get into, and assures sure the two are in contact at all times as that might also effect the sensitivity of the touch screen, however if you decide to try it without the glue, let us know what the results are.

So it seems to be working good at the moment but im wondering if I could have problems down the road from dust possibly getting in between it like you said. Ahhh time will tell.
haha nice one, well in that case, you do have a pretty easy disassembly if you decide to take it apart again. good work.
Why are u using the UV-lamp? Is it necessary?
what the hot gun temperature ? will it damage the lcd ?
also like bruce said .... will a 9 UV flashlight work??
It is a sprint version by the looks of it that's what my old s2 looked exactly like D710
Which temperature is should be used for this?
140°C?
150-180°F
I usually aim for around 160° to err on the side of caution.
JayRay00 EDIT: 160 to 200F. Especially for the S3, you need 200F
What is Loca Glue Lamp UV for? I dont understand what it does. Cant you just take the loca glue and replace the screen without taking that blue light?
I guess the glue reacts to the UV light and hardens faster. Think it should be possible to do it without an UV lamp.
Sandro von Matterhorn I used the sun, it worked perfectly.
Genial le screan vraiment cool
Can you put a detailed walk through up pleaseeeeeee!
We are working on a complete glass repair kit for more affordable price. Please visit our ebay store a few days later.
I am trying to reach my headphone jack and I am totally lost I took 6 screw out not sure what should pull apart? I have same one you have white s2
Does it work on Samsung galaxy s2 i9100?
How I turn into an uv-light? Is it really necessary?
If LOCA gets in to the phone can it short something out? Is it conductive to electricity?
You should not use too much glue. With Octopus glue, it needs only 1 to 1.2 mm only. The glue is not conductive though.
bro can I use UV loca glue on j7 prime for changing glass.its have TFT screen
Before using octopus glue, we tried some generic UV glues and found that it is not easy to remove air bubbles.
do i need the glue and can i use a normal hair dryer ?
A hair dryer might work, but is less effective than a heat gun (since you cannot control the temperature as well)
You need the glue, without it the new screen won't stick. Even if it sticks, the digitizer might not make proper contact meaning your touchscreen won't work.
This is also different type of S2... 4 soft keys at the bottom
I tried to do this today. It worked out fine, but when i tried to put on my Phone it didn't give a screen anymore. Do you have any suggestion? I really hope so. thx
There is more than one model of galaxy s2. This is a D710, like mine.
will you see stuff on the screen after it cracks and starts turning black
Do i need to have the UV Blue Light? or it doesn't really matter?
What's the purpose of the blue light?
It will harden the Glue
what is the point of the sticker things yo put around the edge? i dont understand that... it would be nice if you told me :)
it world be nice if you could fix my phoee for me and I have the Gray Front Outer Screen Lens Glass for Samsung Galaxy S 2 Epic 4G D710 TOOL Part if you could how mouch will it cost me to fix it thank you bruce
chef, könntest du zeigen wie ich auf einem galaxy s2 den grossen knopf

Again, is the UV lamp absolutely necessary?????
This process is not 100% guaranteed, the digitizer is so thin that you can break it even if you breath on it....great skill dude!
The heat gun can also melt contacts easely.Anyways shame on Samsung... Other phones have the digitizer fused into the glass...this is a pretty fucked up marketing strategy....
Special s2?
I wish we can find a good voice soon :)
How do you start to get the screen off?
what about the digitizer?
I'm lazy, can I just send my phone to you and have you do it :D What would you charge if someone was to have you do it for an AT&T Galaxy S2 II SGH-I777?
whould this 9 UV ULTRA VIOLET LED FLASHLIGHT BLACKLIGHT TORCH light i fiould on ebay work to work with the uv glue
We don't do repair by mail. But if you really need, please contact info@mintcell.com.
So i dropped my galaxy s2 and the screen is black but when i press the homebutton the lights comes on so im wondering do i only need to get a new screen or?
You should get and lcd, and digitizer to be sure because that might nor work. Its not the front glass just the lcd if it wont turn on.

I have a cracked Samsung Galaxy SII from Virgin Mobile. Anyone know where I may find a replacement screen?
eBay
Amozon ?
my galaxy s2 started say I must delete files before opening photo gallery do you know how to get around this??
delete files.... no joke. its happened to me.
got it fixed last month, the images were being saved in internal space which is why I got delete file connected usb and removed files, working fine now
ahh. Ive done that too. I hate that it downloads pictures from the internet like that. sorry for being so late :)
thank anyway! we need to help each other remember its us against them
What?! Why didn't you show whether the touchscreen worked in the end?!
+22Uzbekistan because if you watch other videos of people doing the same thing, the touch sreen works.
the touch part is on the display itself, not the glass
sir i have a problem sir that is i9100 in auto power on sir give solution please sir ..........................................
Why do ysou have 4 Buttons on your front screen??
at&t or sprint version
digitiser will brake if you breed on it ..so stupid, i have a s2 9100 i m using it for a week now without the glass straight on the digitiser before i buy the glass.my glass was 80% shattered pieces everywere ,took it off piece by piece with a hair dryier ,a razor blade and gaming cards.digitizer has deep scratches all over because of the pieses of glass.the glue will fill them, but still works fine.conclusion its not that brittle as it looks
Hair dryer does not work sadly, i found out the hard way, i heated it up so much the whole thing came away lcd screen and all and cracked the the lcd in the process which was fine until my so called repair :-(
Plot twist @ 13:44: Touch screen doesn't work.
Fail moment @ 7:37 :/
Otherwise, good job!
s2 ?
damn mine got worse it was doing fine screen was perfect I had it charging near me in bed when I noticed a cracking sound my elbow broke the screen and it turned black, seems it wont turn on anymore
i didt know S2 has new phone with 4G
It's not a galaxy s2, galaxy s2 have a button home.
There are several different models in Galaxy S2, i9100, D710, T989, I727, I777, and some other Asian only versions.
ich sehe da kein galaxy s2 xD
But this cant be a Galaxy S2, because the S2 has only 3 Buttons on the buttom...
Each company is different ..
I don't get your comment... the company is Samsung right?
Yes, but i meant like att, tmobile, verizon ..
The Galaxy S2 (Epic Touch 4G, D-710) which Sprint, Boost and Virgin use is what is in this video and it has 4 "buttons" at the bottom.
Was just wondering about it, can I replace a Epic lcd+digitizer on a classical S2 I9100?
Is that Pinky and Perky I can hear in the background?
sakın inanmayın
Hello, I dropped my S2 accidently and the display is not working. But phone powers on and off, touch keys are working, and even i can answer calls (sliding the answer key by guessing) . The only problem is that the screen is black. so if I replace the screen glass only, will it fix the problem ? What part exactly do i need to replace ? Anyone that can help?
Maxxa Martz Yes just go down to a local phone shop they'll replace it for like £30..
No. The glass is good but the LCD is dead. You need to replace the expensive part unfortunately.
Good video but how the hell do you start to do it? You start the video with it already coming off. Not very helpful
USING WRONG TIP ON HEAT GUN,, USE A WIDER TIP
+jose morales it doesn't matter, as long as you don't heat the lcd.
i'm considering just buy a new phone...
thats a samsung s3 not a s2..... this is the change of a s2 glass
nothing u say makes any sense javier.... go back to palmeque and run that soft shit
