That is a great question in the event of crushing ore if the ore that you are crushing contains very large specimens I would definitely suggest doing a different method than pulverizing with a machine but if you're just doing it for the recovery of the gold anything works.. in my situation because I only have a handheld that's my way of crushing the ore
@kano5307 doing it this way gives you an idea of the or you're collecting so you know what you can expect to get from it if you're doing it on a large scale

Get yourself some " gold classifiers" pans ...1/2 , 1/4 and a 1/8 inch to start with...will save you alot of time.
