XG is just incredible. They just had a comeback but everything they've released so far, which isn't much, has all been fire. They are such a well rounded group that every member is unique and under leader Jurin (amazing bone structure). Their comeback was just a couple days ago and I've had their B side Left Right on replay since release. Their covers and mixtapes are bomb as well. Rappers are hella talented!

danielle was portrayed as hyein's prince. she was holding hyein's glass slipper and when hyein went to sleep after eating the apple danielle went to her rescue riding a motorcycle but eventually died (im assuming the bear killed her as you can see her lying next to hyein's grave). also at the end credits, there is a guy riding a motorcycle with a crown on his head symbolizing danille (the prince). she was also seen in a fairytale book with hyein. (hyein has a princess complex btw.)
as for minji, i think she is suffering from a messiah complex.
haerin seems to be dealing with delusions and child-like tendencies, even believing to be a cat herself. cats are mischievous, which is probably why she was the witch that gave hyein the poisonous apple.
lastly, the dialogue hanni had at the beginning was most likely referring to the parasocial relationship between fans and idols. "I say what they want to hear, and sing for them" etc etc. (kinda a continuation for ditto)
as for the random guy that popped up, i think they were trying to imply that newjeans had multiple imaginary versions of themselves (?). which is (i think) why danielle suddenly broke the 4th wall.

To explain the NWJNS OMG MV in the most concise way I can:
-The MV before (Ditto) was about the fan perspective on idols and parasocialism, growing up, losing interest, but also being able to rekindle that interest as an adult
-This MV in contrast to Ditto is about the idol's perspective and them losing their identity as they follow all the fan's wants, whims, and expectations
-Each member shows a different aspect of the confusion over their identity
-The doctor becoming a patient and also the teddy bear is overprotective fans imo. They want to help their idols and want to "fix" them. They want to protect idols from the "prince" or boy (i.e. keep them from dating and having normal romanctic lives) and in turn their idol dies because they can't be saved by the prince charming. She starts to even fade away because she can't be a person without love and romance. This is where the doctor becomes the teddy bear and also a patient. He also loses track of who he is and his identity.
-Minji is both a patient and a doctor. She's the leader so it's her "role" and "job" to take care of the other members and help them.
-The fans (bunnies) can also be seen as a patient in the background. They remain even when all the lights are out and the members are no longer performing
-The Attention MV plays and at the part where it says "You got me looking for Attention~~" is where Minji tells us "let's stop that's enough now" i.e. There's a line of TOO much attention and y'all are sick for crossing it.
-The haters at the end are also taken away by Minji to the mental ward too because they also don't know who they really are. They need mental help.
*there is WAY WAY WAY more to this MV but this is the sparknotes version.

➡ Minji is both a patient and a doctor. She's the leader so it's her "role" and "job" to take care of the other members and help them. She finds herself alone and crounched down seemingly lost and not knowing what to do with herself. This is because without her identity as the leader and caretaker of the girls (i.e. wihtout the other members around her), she loses her identity.
➡ Hanni is the iphone/siri. She's even dressed as Steve Jobs haha. This is the most clear representation of all of them. She basically says that she has lost her identity and that she must only follow what fans want and be at their beck and call. She's just singing for them whenever they want. She recieves thousands of fanletters (the mail app) and has fans all around the world (weather app). It's doubly meaningful because of their communication app with fans "phoning". It implies that the fans expectations are that the members solely exist for them and illustrates the selfish one-dimensional relationship with many fans. When Minji finds her, she is talking to a wall. In other words, she has to speak and sing and listen to fans, but there's no one listening to her.
➡ Danielle is a NWJNS member. Danielle is seen watching a TV playing static, much like we saw in Ditto. The memories were erased by BHS, but she is in denial and acts like nothing happened. After all, she still remembers being New Jeans, even if everyone else has forgotten them and moved on. She continues to insist that their identity is New Jeans, but maybe this in itself is the problem - that they don't really have an identity outside of the group. On top of that, she plays the fairytale character of the "prince" who comes to rescue the princess, through she is struck down before she can actually make it there. The prince is also the main character of the song and the idea that he's a fictional character that will never actually show up is evident in the lyrics.
➡ Haerin's is also quite straight-forward. We saw the same exact cat in the Ditto MV in which BHS (bunnies) calls the cat "Kang Kitty" which is Haerin's nickname. Fans gave her this nickname for her cat-like physical features, but it becomes and identifier for her. Even if she doesn't want to be called that or wants to be known for something else, it's "Oh she's NWJN's cat! Kang Kitty!" above everything else. Thus she appears as the cat and is seen eating churu churu which is a famous cat treat.
➡Hyein has a book titled, "My Love Story". The stories listed are La Boum, Cinderella, Subway, Little Match Girl, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and the Revenant. Throughout this, we see her in scenes of these stories. The first song La Boum is about the fleeting nature of young love. Even though Matthieu was her dream boy, the end of the movie shows that she can have a new dream boy. This movie's soundtrack and the scene shown are very famous in Korea.
The song's title is Reality:
"Dreams are my reality
The only kind of real fantasy
Illusions are a common thing
I try to live in dreams
It seems as if it's meant to be"
In other words, it's about avoiding reality all together and immersing yourself in your imagination and fantasy.
We see La Boum and Cinderella references together in the black and white pages. As it becomes midnight, of course Cinderella must hurry home and we also see Danielle playing the role of dream boy/prince. Danielle also holds the glass slipper and searches for Hyein. Subway is another French movie, this time about a forbidden love and a women who is tired of feeling trapped in her "spoiled princess" life. Then, we get The Little Match Girl. She is supposed to see lovely images and comforting images when she lights the matches that no one buys as she freezes to death on the streets. However, instead she sees Haerin as the witch. Perhaps them dancing by the Christmas tree at the party is the equivalent of what happens to The Little Match Girl when she burns all of the matches at once. We know that Snow White eats the poisonous apple and falls into a deep sleep as does Sleeping Beauty. Both of them are princesses that can only be saved by a true love kiss of a prince. However, even though Danielle, the prince, rushes to Hyein's side, she appears to be dead on the ground wearing her leather jacket at the foot of Hyein's pedestal. To me, this is like the end of Subway where he is shot and lies down on the ground as he finishes the song. It's ambiguous as to whether he dies or not.
Hyein wakes as a ghost and we see the bear from Revenant. The mother bear attacks and nearly kills a man because it was protecting its babies. Everyone assumes him dead and he has to fight to survive. There is also a lot of betrayal, anger, and revenge involved. This bear is also likely the teddy we see and also the man who appeared as the doctor at first. This only further shows that even those who appear "sane" also have some mental suffering. On top of that, it may be a commentary about how even if the intent is to protect, it could cause real damage to others. The man is seen staring longingly and sadly at the members, perhaps implying that he now realizes the distance between them (similar in some ways to the deer scenes in Ditto). This overprotective/overbearing fan nature keeps idols dreaming of this fantasy love and never being able to experience normal teenage love like normal teenagers do. This is also reflected in the lyrics over and over again with, "They keep asking me, "who is he?"" The fans are obsessed with keeping their idols pure and to themselves and not getting hurt by nasty boys or girls, but at the same time they are likely the ones doing the most damage.
Conclusion:
No one is "sane" in this world. Everyone is a little sick. Everyone is going through at least a little bit of identity crisis. The members are clearly going through an identity crisis as we have seen them as various things, but also at the table they switch to little girls, teenagers, adults, the bear, soldiers, ghosts, business men and women, COVID 19 workers, construction workers, thieves, etc. To me this is all-inclusive. The girls could be anyone. They don't know who are yet and this world that places all these expectations and comments about them only confuses their identities more. Like mentioned previously, it also means that none of us really know who we are either. Like we are all on this journey with them, and even bunnies are part of this crazy party in the mental ward trying to figure it out. In the end, even in OMG world, BHS is left alone in the mental ward at night. The bunnies outfits on the girls seem to represent their stage presence and as it becomes night, the girls are no longer on stage but bunnies is seen sitting there in the background still -- completely alone. The girls are no longer there as we hear Danielle insist that they remember their identity as New Jeans. Then it switches to Attention where they ask not to be woken from their dream and Minji tells us to STOP just as they are asking for "Attention". Thus telling us, there's a limit to the attention that they want." The sound of the tape being stopped can be heard, everything freezes, and Doc Minji tells them all to go back to their rooms.
The doctor who sees Haerin's drawings is actually Lee Malnyeon who is a famous webtoon artist that basically rebranded his identity as a RUclipsr called "chimchakman". In other words, even he is a symbol of identity crisis and the idea of finding your own identity or moving on from an identity placed on you.
At the very end, we have "Every Person" typing about their distaste for the contents of the MV and stating they should just stop and show shallow things like only their face and singing and dancing. They are interrupted by Doc Minji who tells them "Let's go" or in the English translation "Time's up". As if they were giving them a set amount of time to cry, whine, complain, and write hate comments until the members got fed up with it and would shut them down. They don't want THIS kind of attention. Not only that, but it's a sign to say that haters are "sick" too and that they need help.

- Don't know if you've seen Sixteen or not, but Jiwon from Fromis_9 was in the show.
- NewJeans is the first group by Min Hee Jin. She was a creative director at SM, she had a hand in a lot of Red Velvet concepts. She left SM to go to HYBE (BTS company), with her own sub-label Ador and she was given complete creative freedom.
They hit big with the Korean general public that mainly don't listen to kpop, dominating the Melon charts. They seriously have the potential to be the biggest Kpop act ever. You should check out the clip where Twice cheers them on after a music show win, and NewJeans are shocked.

i think the reason why I love new jeans so much is obviously bc each member all around is very talented but also bc their music videos are made so well its insane. the lore behind each music video (like in ditto and OMG) reminds me a lot of the loonaverse and I think that's y I love it sm. I also love how they did all different versions of hype boy. They are slowly filling the whole in my heart that loona left and I cant stop listening to their music. there whole discography has no skips.

XG is the next biggest thing!! They're a Japanese Hip-Hop/R&B group who trained in Korea and promote in the same way Kpop groups promote (they attend music shows as well). All their songs are in English in order to connect with a global audience and they just had a comeback with 'Shooting Star' and the b-side 'Left Right'.
Abt 3-4 months ago, the youngest member's rap verse in their "Galz Xypher" video went extremely viral on TikTok and it garnered them a lot of new attention (both the TikTok and RUclips video sit at 13 million views). The entire cypher video is really cool, it features XG's 4 rappers and they rap in 3 different languages English, Japanese, and Korean.
girls, nmixx really use spanish in their songs. in o.o the chorus say baila and im pretty sure that haewon and sullyoon are the most fluent members at spanish. they start study spanish even before their debut!

Loved your “first” time reactions to these groups. All have playlist worthy songs. OMG is pretty incredible with the mv and now I want to watch the performance videos. But DM always puts me in a good mood. DICE really was something fun and playful. XG, you just cracked the surface. Their rap line video was mind blowing with different styles of rap and I really liked their latest comeback.

in newjeans’ OMG i believe in this fan theory ive seen going around, it makes a lot more sense! they all basically represent different aspects of being an idol, mostly the bad ones i guess?
- hanni (iphone girl) represents them experiencing as much of a parasocial relationship as we do, always available, able to do everything for you, etc. so, a literal iphone.
- 12:47 here ur captions are off, but minji (the doctor) states that she’s not actually a patient like the others and is seen in every girls story, “helping” them get better. you see, minji is the unofficial leader (and the oldest) so thats the role she takes up on here.
- im not too sure on danielle’s role… she’s laughing hysterically at the tv in her first scenes but later or is the one that tries to “wake them up”, telling them theyre filming a music video, letting them now theyre, well, newjeans. maybe she represents another side to the parasocial relationship? where the idol can tell how it’s detrimental to live in that fantasy but is unable to stop?
- haerin (cat girl) is compared to a cat a lot irl, be it by fans or the members. this manifests in the video as her ending up believing she IS a cat (you can see her eating a cat treat). you know, becoming whats expected of you, yadda yadda.
- and finally hyein, the maknae, whose role to me presents as being seen as a princess! she lives in her own head in these fantasy filled stories often portraying her as the main character, the damsel in distress.. you name it (this one im also not too sure about, if anyone has anything to contribute i’ll happily take it).

Honestly I love all of these groups but Fromis won my heart! I don’t know if you guys watched sixteen which formed TWICE but I was a fan of Jiwon since I watched the show. Her voice is crazy!! And although Gyuri is no longer a member, she was also one of my faves 💙
