    Hubby and I discovered this little gem in the PAX East library this year. Fell in love and bought it that week.

    Weird that with 8 greens and 1 orange you can make a painting that has a totally different colour palette... would've been nice if they matched a bit more.

    What about Bob Ross?

  • @amoscaliuc

    It looks like fresco is much more interesting. :) though the colors are more simple. A simpler fresco game?

    So both of Tom's reviews today are "Color" games. Was that intentional? ;)

    Perhaps a few additions in an expansion is in order. More paintings, add female artists, etc. Looks interesting. It will look good next to my copies of Fresco and Bob Ross - The Art of Chill

    I almost won without painting anything! The game is awesome and fun!

    Looks awesome! It does need an expansion with women and more paintings and art genre's. Otherwise, great mechanisms.

    I hate that some people still insist that the primary colors are yellow, blue and red! aaaaargh! This designer clearly hasn't done his homework!

    • @scuba92186
      @scuba92186 5 лет назад +3

      In pigment (as in with paint), the primary colors are red, blue, and yellow

    • @galahads
      @galahads 5 лет назад +3

      @@scuba92186 No, they are not. That is a misconception. Even using paints, Magenta, Cyan and Yellow are primary. I'm a painter, I should know: if you mix 1 part magenta and 1 part yellow, you make red. If you mix 1 part magenta and 2 parts cyan, you get blue. That means neither blue, nor red are primary - as primary means you cannot mix colors and reach it.

      @@galahads semantics

    • @galahads
      @galahads 5 лет назад

      @@alcovitch well, if you don't care about the effort made to reproduce the original theme, everything is semantics... I'm just saying that shows there was no effort to do a deeper research over the topic. There are other matters other people pointed out bellow, such as the lack of female painters and the need to only use impressionist art throughout the game. All negative points, in my opinion.

      Nothing personal, but that's like saying Ticket to Ride is a terrible game because they put Duluth where Minneapolis is and they put Chicago in Indiana. Yes, these are glaring mistakes, but it doesn't make the game any less fun. The average person probably ended their art education when they stopped having to take art classes in elementary school and the designer wanted to use names and paintings the majority of people would either recagnize or at least agree are good.

    Why only male painters?
    Also... Makes game about art... With cubes... but not about cubism... Hmmm?

    • @WolfGratz
      @WolfGratz 5 лет назад +1

      It looks to me as if its restricted to the Impressionists. I guess they could have included say Morisot but it would have been a bit tokenistic. Let's face it with a limited number of slots the designers are going to go with the box office names.

      As per the comment earlier - it's pretty realistic. Were it a modern art game or, ironically, a slightly earlier period you would have a better case in my opinion. A nice Vigee Le Brun or Kauffman would be very welcome on my table.
