Every time i see this clip i am always amazed why Odegaard did not pass directly to Trossard. Instead of a 1-2 it became a 1-2-3-4-5
Glad you asked. Well, Odegaard is left footed and Trossard is right side of him and behind his eye line, so he’d have to twist his body shape to make that pass and that is risky/Stupid for two reasons: injury and an inaccurate pass maybe from a touch too heavy or touch too light or just not getting the direction right.
Alternatively, Odegaard could take an extra touch so that he can adjust his body frame and make that pass but it’s very likely a defender is already behind Trossard and will intercept because Odegaard took the extra touch and made the pass predictable as a result. And on the matter of predictability, the goalie would also be better prepared for the strike from Trossard in that position but Odegaard’s pass actually stretches the keeper to protect his goalpost at the left side, leaving the space open for Trossard to tap in.
Either way, the obvious pass is not always the best pass. That is why Odegaard is the Midfield maestro, while we are here in social media comments sections making shallow, not that well thought through observations.

Odegard deciding not to take the direct pass to trossard but shift it out wide is why I’m preferring Eze at the moment. Cool it was a goal but against tougher teams that would be snapped out. It’s 2 additional folks who could get tackled or miss pass

And you’re right, Eze would probably have made the obvious pass and we 💯 wouldn’t have scored as a result. That is why Eze’s chance creation is low. He is unfortunately dumb and basic. Remember, there is more going on in the pitch than is shown in this frame, there are bodies behind Trossard that you can’t see. Now watch the goal again closely with my observations in mind this time, does it make sense?
