- Starting off with the Blues feed, scary look in Holloway's eyes when the camera initially panz toward the bench

The look in his eyes around 0:34 is terrifying
When you get hit in that area of the neck it can cause a change in blood pressure causing Somone to pass out or be extremely lightheaded witch I assume is what he’s feeling in that exact moment because it looks like he’s about to faint.
Just happy he was on the bench by the medical team and the update that he was in stable condition 🙏
lifeless
@@MlNlclips you mean low blood pressure?
@@Riv3r69 No, even a shock of high pressure can knock you out after a couple seconds.
From being unfazed to being strechered off ice is in a way much scarier than blood.
He was fazed to be honest, if you listen to his interview today. He knew something wasn’t quite right when he got hit, then started to feel light headed as he went to the bench.
Don’t care for that traitor go oilers

After ten years in EMS, I'm 95% sure the shot stimulated his vagus nerve and caused him to vagal out on the bench. Stimulating the vagus nerve would cause delayed symptoms just like this. I think the trainer holding c-spine was a precaution, but I doubt he has an actual neck injury beyond soft tissue.
Great post. Absolutely with ya on this.
The response can be immediate, but can also take time to manifest.
Yep, I 100% agree. The delay makes me think ur exactly right. Such a bizarre thing but if you see where the puck actually hit him it’s literally exactly where the Vegas nerve is
@@jackg2630There’s a sports doctor who does breakdowns of injuries in various pro sports (Dr. Brian Sutterer) and he came to similar conclusions in video on this incident. He shows the structures of the neck to highlight where it most likely hit him and it was all the nerves/arteries like you mentioned. It’s a really fascinating insight into sports medicine as a whole.
Had this happen to me or at least similar, was a goaltender, took a puck to the neck during practice, didn't even feel it till about a minute later and then everything all got fuzzy ... and felt like i turned into a brick. had ems show up since i collapsed on the ice, and a couple minutes into my taxi ride felt fine, cant say the same for my chest protector as those guys cut it off me. i had a neck guard which prolly makes my experience different, but idk for him, hope he's all good. its in my top three for worst injuries playing for sure.
edit: this happened almost 15 years ago and when i did go down, it was black.
Is this similar to how people get knocked out by getting a kick to the neck?
Dylan met with the Blues media today, about 30m ago. Said he hopes to play tomorrow and so far all tests came back good.
thank you for the update
good to hear, close call
What adrenaline can do is mindbogglingly though. He managed to scare for several seconds, finish his shift and head to the bench though a rubber puck hit him in a sensitive area on his neck. I ain't a doctor, but that's impressive.
just the vagal nerve
Vulcanized rubber
Really glad his parents were at the game and able to be with him at the hospital. Wish him the best
Wishing Dylan a speedy recovery. Glad to see that, no matter what the battles are on the ice, the players still recognize when a fellow player is having a health and/or injury issue, and can put that aside for a few minutes.
Wish not go oilers
""Holloway's parents were in town for the game and are with him at hospital.""
Ugh... imagine seeing that in person, and it's your (adult) son... ick, ick, ick... 😲🙁💩
Wow, man, best of luck. Neck injuries are always scary
"From what I’ve been told, the puck hit the vagus nerve in my neck and as soon as I got hit I knew something was a little off, but then I saw we got a two-on-one so I couldn’t pass up that opportunity. As soon as I got to the bench I was feeling a little woozy. I don’t really remember much from there until I was on the stretcher close to the ambulance. Holloway says he immediately knew something wasn’t quite right but initially only felt ‘lightheaded’ before blacking out. "As soon as the puck hit my neck I knew something was a little off. As soon as I started skating I felt a little lightheaded," he added. "When I was going to the bench it kind of felt like when you stand up too fast, it felt like that head rush but it just kept coming on and then I was out." Asked whether he was aware of what was happening, Holloway replied: ‘No, I don’t know what I thought was going on but I didn’t even know that they stopped the game. "I got told by our head trainer that I just felt weird on the bench and then the next thing I knew I was awake on the stretcher close to the ambulance." "I didn’t realize that they stopped the game, I didn’t realize it was actually that big of a deal but I’m just thankful that everybody and all the medical staff were so hands-on and were able to get me to hospital safely. I left the hospital last night at about 11pm. They had to run some tests and stuff because I guess when you get hit in the neck it’s obviously a scary area and it could have been a lot worse."
That's a hockey player for you. Dang I'm feeling weird oh 2 on 1 I'm good..ish
For anyone wondering, he is completely fine.
Ya I am. Thabks haha
Props to Hedman and Hagel for interrupting the ref during the replay announcement
What’s crazy is it showed Saad being hit, but I was the prior shift when Holloway was hit with the puck, confused me at first I was like huh
I was lost for a minute to. Glad everyone is ok.😂
lol you see his dive after his own team mater high sticked him? Head snaps back like it was just hit by a truck...funny stuff
In no way a Bolts fan, but good on them for stopping the ref. A lot of respect for them.
True hockey player holding on to his stick like his life depended on it.
I thought the same thing. The emotional support stick. My kid is ridiculous about it. 😂
Prayers for him and hopefully he will be back on the ice soon. 🙏 Sounds like things so far are going well, based on the comments section, and wishing him a speedy recovery. 👍
Praying that he will make a full and speedy recovery. It appears that they took full protective measures as precautions. I hope!
I don’t ……. Go oilers
You tried 3 times on 3 different comments...poor guy trying to get attention @yomamma376
@@yomamma376wtf is wrong with you?
Broken vertebrae or neck injury? Just how the trainer is holding the neck/back plus the stretcher for a fully conscious player its the only thing I can think of.
I agree, maybe he felt fine at first from adrenaline but once he sat down it wore off. The way he was leaning made me think he might have had some loss of feeling from something nerve related, which is why he was being held up
Let's just hope that it isn't a serious injury that ends his season or career. Hopefully it's something that he will recover from fairly quickly.
Doubt it, the impact was not forcefull enough. There a lot of crucial stuff in that area that seriously rock you, artery wind pipe. The stabilizibg is a precautionarry measure that is applied a lot. Just to be sure.
There's a sport doctor channel that explains it. Something to do with a sudden hit to the jugular
Thankfully it seems to be none of those
Im going to guess he's extremely lucky he didnt get crushed into the boards at 3:18
What an incredible demonstration of how deeply ingrained their training and in-game instinct is- he's becoming hypoxic but he still continues the play and deftly avoids a check (which you're absolutely right would've WRECKED him)
I was just horrified when i heard the announcers saying "theres something going on on the bench", because my mind immediately went to what happened with Bouwmeester collapsing
All the shit talking and beating each other up on the ice, it's still a brotherhood. Sending prayers to Holloway!
Please be okay! :(
Im crying.. that is scary, i played junior A, was hit in the jugular..carried on for rest of shift, then ..i remember nothing, just my nerves burning and dizziness and loss of mobility.
I hope Dylan is o.k.
Blues fans. Really bad flashbacks with this
Pronger taking that slapshot from Mirinov in the chest in '98. As a Red Wings fan, I watched that game live.
At least he was moving his arms on the bench before the stretcher, but yikes I hope it's not serious.
Reminds me of when I played goalie back when I was 15 -16 and took a puck to the throat. They were worried my throat would swell and cut my breathing off
I love when you do the dual feeds! Could you put which feed is for each team? 😂 I always try to figure it out but cant!
@@anagriffith7489 I usually put it in the description 🥰
@ 🤦🏼♀️of course its hahaha
@anagriffith7489 To be fair, I'm assuming you're watching from your phone so the description doesn't show unless you click on it 😊
thanks for the video. surprising that more players dont wear neck protectors (even if in this case it probably wouldnt have made a big difference but who knows ... may have softened the hit a little bit.) glad it sounds like he ll be ok though. :)
At least the hospital updates are encouraging. But damn...
thats terrifying
Is there an update? is he okay?
I believe I read that he is in stable condition now.
He just had a media interview.
These guys are tough as nails!
Johnny hockey💨💨💨💨
Watched it live
Last I heard he's already back to at the rink ready to skate.
You should show what happened to Ehlers last night! Got double teamed by 96 and 62 From Colorado in front of their net! Not a respectable move by Mikko given the whistle didn’t blow yet and the puck was still lose! Should’ve been a roughing call on 96 or 62 for sure! Because it was a 2v1. Happens in most cases
Wondering if it hit a artery or vein and slowed/cut off the supply of blood to the brain?
Doesn't seem like a spot that would effect the spinal cord and there is an Artery that runs near there and across the collar bone i think.....scary as hell
Reminds me of back in the 90s when Pronger also playing for the Blues was KO'd by a puck tot he chest against Detroit. Pretty sure he fell off the stretcher as they lifted him into the ambo too
Don’t care go oilers
Similar to straining so hard on the toilet that you pass out.
Delayed Vagus nerve reaction? oof scary!
Good on hedman and hagel
Agreed- Blues fan
Yeah Hedman especially was making sure Wes knew what was going on. Excellent work.
Warmed my heart to see that.
Broken jugular?
"Oh moi" @5:23 lmao..
Broken neck, or maybe fractured larynx?
Reminds me of jiri fischer in detroit going into cardiac arrest on the bench back in 05.
Cracked his collar bone?
hit the vagus nerve
Broken collarbone?
Neck guard could have protected that, wish him a speedy recovery but man they need to be mandatory
Neck guards are more for lacerations. Might have softened the blow a little but not much
@Vagabor123 they also reduce impact. Not by a huge amount but by enough. I've been clipped by a puck in the neck whilst wearing one. It hurt like fuck. But not that bad I was needing to be stretched off the ice
shut the fuck up nerd. not everything needs to be mandatory after a rare incident
A neck guard isn’t protecting against a puck bro
@@thatoneguy9666 I'm living proof it did....
That’s why he should have stayed on the oilers
Why aren’t these guys wearing neck protection?
could the puck have hit Nd broke his collarbone?
Dylan just go a hat tirkc
How many covid shots did he take?
you are mentally ill
Did the vaccine make the puck hit his neck, retard?
Shut up
The impact may have caused a carotid artery dissection. Amongst other things this can cause the artery to swell at the impact point which then presses on nerves. Just speculation of course.
Another Springfield player called up maybe give Dvorsky a chance now.
Not that busy
can you do drop the avalance jets scrums
Keep getting your vaccines boys and girls!
Wtf are you talking about? You complete lunatic
This hit his vagus nerve and caused a reaction that causes a person to faint, nothing to do the vaccines. It's just like how a hard hitting puck or punch to the heart area can sometimes stop one's heart when it hits a nerve.
His interview the day after reflected as such. Are you that brainwashed to think every little medical thing is vaccine related? Use your brain
This happened because he was hit in the neck with a puck, retard. You would know that if you watched the video, of course, but you guys love being purposely ignorant so here we are.
Guys really need to wear those neck guards.
Not for traitors go oilers
My guess is a broken neck and he will be out of the season. Scary stuff, thankfully he is getting immediate medical support.
Broken neck💀 He would NOT have been able to move like he did
That would depend on the degree of the fracture and what soft tissue was damaged. Base case, the adrenaline kept him on his skates to the bench then wore off. Letting him feel have goofed his neck was. Just tissue damage and no facture. Worse case. Same with the adrenaline, however one or more of his spinal vertebrae are fractured. Meaning weeks of recovery or forced retirement from the league.
He may look fine. Those eyes, the way he was just before getting on the stretcher. Tells me something more serious is at play. Regardless of how he was just after the hit on the ice. Adrenaline can do amazing things for sure.
@@mechanicalelizabeth he is stable now they say, nothing life threatening, should be back like in 2 games
Pffffft 😂
Internal poll:
Did bolduc hurt saad on purpose?!?!
POLL: did Nick Paul intend to injure?
No. Look at the replay. As Paul shoots, the puck launches off Kyrou's stick and into Holloway's neck. Anyone that says Paul did that on purpose is an idiot.
You're already a leafs fan, don't be stupid twice
Are you slow?
Not even being a leafs fan is an excuse for this kind of idiocy.
You'd be surprised, I actually have to say that a LOT on this channel.
It's typical everything to most north Americans is a conspiracy @@derpdiggler7413
I was trying to separate frozen wieners with a serrated knife, it slipped and I can remember the vibration of the serrations when the knife stopped at the finger bone at one of my my knuckles, I said a few words that rhymed with duck then raised my hand to look at my wound and immediately vagaled out slumping to the floor. The delay was maybe 15 seconds between cutting and falling but after just a minute or so I came to and was fine. It’s definitely a weird feeling and a little scary.
