My onions did not do so well this season but yours look amazing. Great job. Also i heard that onion powder is hard to fine in some states. I have plenty of store bought on hand but would like to try this one day. However my okra, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapenos and squash are all doing well. Thanks for video. 👍
If they haven’t flowered, cure them and they will store fine. It’s the ones that have bolted that won’t last. Caramelized and frozen or pickled and refrigerated are great uses for those.
I did onion powder with one that went to seed a bit early, but I wanted it to so I could get seeds. Cut it as it just started to die back, dried the top and got my seeds, which germinated this year, the stalk was still green, dehydrated it, processed it to powder ❤
You can caramelize the onions, then dehydrate them turn them into a powder suck all the air out of a mason jar put an oxygen absorber in there and they’ll keep for years.
Celery powder would be great too!
I love celery powder!

Absolutely 💚 I’m enjoying the homemade powder. It seems more potent than the store stuff

Caramelized sounds so good!

That’s a great way not to waste a thing. Great job!

Great tip
Flash freeze before freeze dryer to shorten drier time
Good suggestion
Can we use sun dried onions if we don't have freeze dryer or dehydrater?
I’ve never tried that. It’s humid where I live so that doesn’t normally work but if you are in a more dry climate you should give it a try
@HomegrownFloridaZ9a alrighty! I shall try it soon. I live in the tropics, so it might work (I hope it will 🥹)
Don’t forget garlic as well. Keep all ends and peels for bone broth!!
Great recipe! Thanks!!
My pleasure 😊
For those who have both freeze dryer and dehydrator what do you find more helpful? If I could only buy one at a time which is the first purchase?
Can you tell me the thing you’re using on top of your jar?? Please
It’s a jar vacuum sealer that I got on Amazon. Here’s the link - amzn.to/3R9xPOQ
@@HomegrownFloridaZ9a Thank you!!
Dang TT freeze dryer are like very expensive wanted to process stuff with it. Very nice video though!
They are but you could also dehydrate if you don’t have a freeze dryer. It works well too.
What is that gadget at the end? Does it seal the canning jar?
Yes it’s a jar vacuum sealer. I have a link to it in the video description if you are interested
@@HomegrownFloridaZ9a Thank you! That's really neat.
