I was always under the impression that they took down the illumination right after Christmas. Glad to see they keep them up. Winter illumination is important to the human psyche, and helps us get through the dark, cold months.

I know nagano is a snowy region. But nagano city doesn't always get snow as its not in the hilly mountains. It's a dream to see zenkoji in heavy snow
