It’s a shame that these supermen figures never have a smiling head alternative. Superman is generally light hearted, not emotionless or angry that all the Superman figures make him. Otherwise, pretty epic figure
Feel like Clark is absolutely walking around with a more stoic face than he is smiling. I do think his regular face looks a bit too serious though. The emotion could be a bit more neutral or earnest
@@jjboy157 Thank you! For some reason people keep describing Superman as someone that he is just smiling around. But most of the time he is actually quiet serious. Only time when he was super smiley was decades ago when basically all superheroes were like that.

It's kinda insulting that Batman comes with 3 heads, with the bruce wayne head being (kinda) smiling while Supes only gets 2 angry heads and an accessory for Batman...

It's just in this instance they've made a perfect Superman body and we all want the perfect Superman figure so a smiling head would be the icing on the cake, but he never smiled in Hush. Even when he shows up in Gotham a few issues after Poison Ivy manipulated him he only frowns. Blame Jim Lee I guess?

@@KatlikeRider They might not have plans to reuse the mold. Even before the Blue and Grey costume was released they had already announced the Black version of the Lee costume. That means they could spread the cost of the mold across two figures whereas here, unless they do something later on, they have to pay for the mold with just the one release. That might explain part of it.

Funny thing is Medicom had the license for awhile. They released 4 characters through their RAH 12" line years ago. They only realized their should release these characters through their Mafex line, which I'm in for

This figure looks as good as I expected him to be- so pretty dang good. Definitely would have loved a smiling face but I’m not even sure he smiles in the Batman Hush story. Definitely want this one to go with Batman, but with the MAFEX Peter B Parker coming out soon as well, these Mafex figures are burning cash really quickly
I just really hate how all the Mafex figure are coming out at once. when they kept getting delayed. I just got a notification from AmiAmi that my Black Version Batman was ready. I paid that. Then this week Superman Came out. I really hope their not doing this all on purpose my wallet is hurting from it lol.

You can tell Mafex is learning along the way, like how they changed the cut on the foot so the same thing that happens on the JL supes won’t happen with this one. Also, I miss GCSirens so much too, March is one of my favorite artists and he deserves all the credit he gets

Wow, looks a lot better than what I would have thought. I'm a sucker for the lighter blue Superman. One of the best head sculpts out of any Superman figure as well, next to the NECA and DCSH versions. Can't wait to pick him up.

This figure looks incredible, the only two more items this guy could have used to have made him THE Superman figure would have been a laser vision effect and a Superman trade mark smile face. I understand this is based on his Hush appearance but still, this figure looks so gorgeous, hell they went the extra mile in adding on his Superman symbol on the back of his cape! It looks great overall and can't wait to have him to form DC's Worlds Finest! 😍 Looking forward to your Mezco Christopher Reeves Superman review! Thanks for the shock oil trick. I had a couple mafex figures that have really tight hips and they made me nervous to move them but I put the shock oil on and they work great now. Great review as always
I would very much like to see them tackle a Michael Turner (R.I.P. you will be forever missed good brother) designed/stylized Superman figure. No company has gotten it right to this day and that would be such an absolute TRUE treasure to have and own. I wholeheartedly believe that hands down w/o any shadow of a doubt.
When you put the mafex Superman next to the Neca Superman you'll notice that their torsos are similar in size and then when you see the head sculps it makes the mafex headsculp look so tiny like it's disproportionate

Thanks as always D Amazing. I got mine from HLJ yesterday. Yes..the QC issues are annoying but overall this is my favorite version of a Lee styled Superman by far. I do wish they gave him a more posable butterfly joint on his arms and shoulders, just to give him a more folded arms motion that looks more natural 🤔 but other than that , Mafex did Superman justice
16:15 I put a custom cloth cape on the DC Essentials Superman, and it looks like that made all the difference. The plastic cape seemed to have pulled in down.
Thank you for the review! This Superman looks like the (almost)perfect 1/12 Superman I've been craving all my life. Sure, It's missing a smiling face, but after the Mezco ended up being a dissapointment, Mcfarlane being nothing but batman statues and everything else being movie related or just plain crap, I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. Really hope Mafex makes another Comic Superman superman, I'd LOVE to see them adapt Gurihiru's art from Superman Smashes the Klan in figure form, or hell I'd love to see more DC characters period.
I wonder if they are constrained to do only some storyline version and not a more generic Superman because of the licensing rights or it is a choice...Same thing happen with their Magneto.
Been waiting forever for this guy it seems. And for me this figure can pass as the definitive Superman cause I don’t think there is one better than this one as of yet

I don't think I have seen anyone comparing him to McFarlane's Devastator yet, lol. I like how this figure looks, but something about the torso doesn't feel right to me... The lower part seems to be a bit small for the upper one. Also, yeah, some hands look way too big for the scale of the figure, Batman had the same problem.

A lil nail polish remover on a Q-tip(press or squeeze out excess) can rub off scuffs without damaging paint job

If MAFEX is going for the definitive versions of the most popular superheroes in the world, they're damn close to doing it.
The yellow "S-shield" at the back is missing the small triangle that makes up the upper serif of the "S". Hpw can Mafex miss that detail?
Im guessing it caused a problem in manufacturing, thats really weak imo because if you already bought it your forced to live with it!

Figured out that there is a bit of extra plastic left over under the chest piece that will scrape/scratch on the torso unless you take it off.

Yeah, he’s pretty great. This is my first Mafex figure and I’m not disappointed. The neck ball post on mine was correct in the box.
