    Thank you so much for sharing this! I have a Harry Potter themed classroom and wanted to add potion bottles as decor, but couldn't figure out the best way to keep the glitter suspended (without using resin). This is perfect!

    Another idea I had was you could do Cinderella's lost slipper 👠 in a jar with a Beautiful Jewel 💎 on the lid, some sparkly or satiny material underneath the slipper with some little lights around it or a light inside the lid. Then maybe put a string of pearls around the top.
    Also, that darkest purple styling gel you put in your potion bottle looks like a Blueberry pie 🥧 filling or something grape 🍇 flavoured it looks almost good enough to eat !!

    I've got an idea for another potion bottle.
    You could have a triangle shaped bottle or jar and call it The Bermuda Triangle with all lost things in it, like a little ship, a plane,
    a surfboard with a bite out of it, a little bottle with a message in it, a beach ball, a shark, some ghosties, some little fish all made out of polymer clay or maybe you could find all those little things in shops or little things from Xmas crackers that you might have kept.

    This is really amazing, I had been looking for a good tutorial on making potions that actually looked like whimsical and magic potions haha. I do have a question though, if you don't mind :) I want to follow this tutorial and make not only a potion with this color, but also a red based and blue based potion. I'm curious as to how you would make those two colors look as nice as the purple one. Following the darker to lighter scale, and if other color glitters would be best when adding it. (sorry if the question is kinda all over the place)

    • @CookingandCraftChick
      @CookingandCraftChick  7 лет назад +4

      +Kofei i'm glad you like my potions! To make a red based one I would do the red food coloring in varying steps of darkness and then for the glitter I would use red, dark pink and maybe a gold glitter. It should give you a similar effect. For the blue based one I would use the blue food coloring in the varying darknesses and then I would use a navy blue glitter, a light blue glitter, and a regular blue glitter. hope that helps thanks for watching!

  • @dark0blade
    @dark0blade 2 года назад

    why make it out of styling gell. you could have made it out of water with a food dye and then use a pearl powder or something that shifts between pink and purple (add in one of those spinning magnets that they use for stirring solutions, and place it on a electric base that spins it and voila) it would then be more mystical and can actualy slosh around when picked up

    The Love Potion is supposed to be pearlescent, I think. But nice take on it, though! Is hair gel durable as a potion? Because I used to do mine with tap water, but that definitely goes bad after a while. I'm slowly replacing them with sanitising alcohol, but that's not the cheapest either in the long run and I haven't found any large quantities containers for sale in my area yet.
    As for suspension, I was told about glycerine, but since that is the same stuff as in snow balls, I'm not sure whether it is such a good alternative either...
