One thing that might help with the "It was..." problem of quickly adding cards from another class to your hand is changing the starting card a bit.
My idea was to make it along the lines of "Discover a minion that killed another minion this game. Add "With the..." to your hand." I believe that this would not harm the flavor in any way (you are discovering a murderer after all) and would probably discourage very early usage of the card since your opponent might not have killed any minions on turn one or two (meaning you waste one mana on starting turns and the starting card itself) and if you kill any minions yourself, you are adding a minion from your own class to your hand which negates the problem as well.
Maybe if that would still not be enough, the starting card could be kept at 2 mana and the rest at 1 mana, or the follow up cards could be added to your hand at the end of the turn.

That's still 6 mana for 3 cards, way too much, meanwhile thoughtsteal is 2 mana for 2 cards, there's also 2 mana add two spells in rogue too.
It's generally accepted that discovering a card can only be 1 mana effect, anything ever that was printed for 2 mana, like paladin's 2 mana ''Discover a minion, give it +1/+1'' was always unplayable, even with added small benefits.
And if getting 3 cards proves to be just too much for 3 mana, put it at 4, have it be 1/1/2 and be done with it, there's really no reason to insist on 1/2/3, 3/2/1, 1/1/1 or 2/2/2 for flavor reasons. Flavor should be in the card itself, not in the cost you pay for it, that's just it, cost that should balance it for game purposes.

I think inept fortune teller has a major problem is that it doesn’t have a downside if you have a deck tracker. Because the use would be able to see what cards were removed from their deck. I don’t know what blizzard’s stance on trackers are, but considering many streamers use them I doubt they care. But a card that says “battle cry: become utterly overpowered if you have a deck tracker” shouldn’t be printed so long as deck trackers are a thing.

I think that last card is SO in flavor they should have made it a neutral spell. I know there isn't neutral spells, but there is a first time for everything like the first neutral weapon. You can also make it a 3 mana card that discover all 3 options to avoid 1 man spell shenanigans and avoid curve shenanigans. Also, if you want to nerf it a bit more you could make it to where the opponent sees the card. It's in flavor since you are announcing the culprit.

I feel like Deathly Touch isn't even THAT egregious. It is quite a bit better than Shiver Their Timbers! in Pirate Warrior when it is ACTIVE, but it takes A LOT more work to get there.
It's a card you pretty much HAVE to open with for it to be live at a decent time which means you are effectively down a card several turns which could make activating it that much more difficult. If this is in your hand that means it isn't another minion that could be used to Infuse it which is the problem I feel A LOT of Infuse cards will have similar to Corrupt.

I don't remember where I posted it, maybe in last weeks custom hearthstone video, but I had a very similar idea to the "It was....." card here except I said just make it a Questline for Rogue. They've brought hero cards back for singular classes so I didn't see an issue with only Rogue getting a Questline.
I didn't exactly say what the "tasks" would be, but my idea would've been first reward is "It was...." where you discover a legendary minion from another class (Dragon's Hoard pretty much). The next part would've been "In the...." where you simply discover a location from another class. The final reward would've obviously been "With the....", but since it was a Questline I felt it to be fair that instead of a weapon something more powerful like a Kazakusan treasure would've been an appropriate enough reward compared to a random weapon from another class as doing ALL that work to get a 7 mana Gorehowl is just....terrible.
Obviously it could be something else on that power level or if it WAS a treasure you'd "omit" options that don't make sense flavor wise such as Wax Rager falling more into murder"er" territory than murder "weapon".

  • @m0002856
    @m0002856 2 года назад +1

The Inept Fortuneteller card might be too strong at 2 mana, but I like the idea of drawing more than 1 card.
I think drawing 1 card would be too weak especially because I imagine the cards would be visible to your opponent while flipped over. If you’re holding a powerful board clear, they will get that information and can play around the cards in hand.
The card is definitely too strong at 2 manna, so maybe it just needs to be upped in mana and stats. It’s a 2/2 for 2 so why not a 3/3 for 3? Or a 4/4 for 4? Tweak it until it’s appropriate for its cost. The effect is really cool though.

I was hesitant too but considering card draw isn't too strong on priest (albeit out of flavour) and we already have 2 mana draw two, the first change I'd be inclined to make would be turn it into a 1/2.

If you draw Rock Bottom in your mulligan, it would get yoinked from your hand at the start of the game, right? Meaning 1 in 15 games or so, you would start with one less card. That by itself makes the card not worth playing IMO, it more than offsets the increased consistency of playing a 29 card deck.

4:00 I feel like that at 5 mana wouldn't be busted as a 9/9 as it would basically have to be in hand turn 1 and still have token combo things for the turn 5 play but also warlock has the 4 mana summon a demon with stats equal to your hand and that really isn't busted despite often being on curve and just a 4 mana 9/9

Droplet of Madness doesn't seem completely out of line to me. We have combos that can kill you before 10, and this seems unlikely to come down by 10 all that often (you need to draw both and then get five things to die after doing that). A 10-mana combo that requires some lucky draws and setup has been allowed to OTK you in the past, so I don't really see why one being able to generate a massive threat that will kill you next turn if not deal with isn't okay.

Denathrius also has a huge issue that it makes the mirrors even MORE volatile than they already are. Aggro mirrors already are super coin flippy and snowball out of control by whoever secures the board first and this just exacerbates the problem.
Rogue MIGHT be able to maybe win back a board right now by drawing Gnoll or whatever and playing it on turn 3 or 4, but if both players are at 20 the Rogue might have already taken 6 damage (30% of their health) by JUST a 1 mana 2/2 by that point and be on death's door no matter what they do.
In a Denathrius Mirror (heh) I would almost guarantee the stats are UNBELIEVABLY skewed towards the winner of the coin toss at like 70-30 or better. You are pretty much always going to be able to win in a race especially since your deck will be consistent enough to find some amount of reach over the top. DH for example probably just wins most games on turn 5 after playing for board/burn turns 1-4 to get you into Arcanite Reaper range.

The one thing i think is that the starting health being 20 was kinda glossed over unfairly, since it means an aggro deck that doesn't run it most likely wins that matchup, and you have less wiggle room if you do miss the cards you need. personally, as someone who plays a renathal control mage, i think it'd be neat to see a 20/20 opponent, since i will most likely outlast them. but the consistency that 20 cards brings is strangulating. I played Duel Links, players pretty much always had the cards they wanted in their starting hands. comparing to a third card game, for magic the gathering, there is a major difference in consistency between a 60 card deck and an 80 card deck. before i understood the concept of deck consistency i played an 80 card mono-red deck. it was abysmal. once i shaved down to 60 it actually performed semi-reasonably. i also just sucked at deck building at the time, which certainly didn't help.
the "It Was" "With the" "in the" i think the first part should be discover a legendary minion from another class, so you don't get instances of "it was the wisp", which just feels bizzare to me. If you really want to get deep with that, you could make it the other 9 suspects this set has. So my example would be "it was Kryxis the Voracious, With the Warglaives of Azinoth, in the Hedge maze". I don't think that is necessary strictly speaking, but could be a neat little tweak.

Deathly Touch might be more interesting as "Infuse (X): Deal X damage to a minion"
Excited Visitor could just read "Battlecry: Apply the effect of all enemy Locations" (it'd be allowed to target one thing when cast)
