You're a very clever guy. Even the stuff you don't explain I learn from...such as tilting the work piece when you cut it on the band saw so it cuts at an angle and doesn't bog down the blade. Keep making good stuff!

Jeremy - Your videography, lighting, framing, and editing is legitimately world-class on RUclips. Not just good. Not just good for an amateur. No exaggeration, you might literally be the best in the world at this. I can't think of a single DIY-ish channel that does it better than you. Everyone else I always keep thinking "I wish they showed X", "I wish they explained Y", "This is getting boring, I wish they'd cut and compress it", etc. But you just seem to get it. You get what good content is, you get how to show it to someone else. You have a great head for both educating and entertaining, all the little 2 second things that might take a half hour to describe why you would want to film it a certain way that you just get. I never wish you'd spend more or less time on a section. I never wish you'd explain it a different way. There's always something both interesting to see and listen to at every moment. I know you get a lot of positive feedback on your projects themselves, but, if it's anything for you like it is for me, it's 2x-10x the time and effort to film something the right way and I figure you should know that it's valued and appreciated. I think you not only have a rare talent (most people wouldn't know how to do this well), but you have a rare work ethic (even if it was common to know how to shoot it right, most would not bother to do what it takes to make it happen). If you enjoy making content I hope you continue to do so and find success in it.
Matt...you nailed it with you're comment. This is what's lacking in doing a trade course...as I said though...visually the welding is crap...but that can be improved by...dare I say it...Do a welding course. Not everything needs to be mig welded. I have a Laser Welding Business. My welds may be 1mm wide or a fillet weld. Or a gusset. But all my angles are from Tig welding certificates gained. J's videos can wet the appetites of young people considering a trade. Just a thought.

With even an old Bridgeport you'd see the speed and precision of your builds raise exponentially. Great work and it's critically important to keep your "old school" skills honed. It's also important to honor them. CNC technology is incredibly awesome, but using too much of it will atrophy your ability to problem solve with our predecessor's ability and ingenuity. I work with Haas VMCs every day, but I don't use a CAM system to program unless absolutely necessary. I try to get onto a Bridgeport as much as possible. I've found that if I don't do these things, my overall skillset begins to wither.

Not only do I now know how to make a table design that will work well for the belt grinder I am building, but I leaned about not making welds too long and warping the metal and beveling the edges to allow room for the weld to set. And I have wondered how in the world to make a curved slot in metal for quite some time. Your method is ingenious. I also thank for for explaining things clearly and easily to follow. Great video!!! Holy shit man, every metal worker would kill to have one of these in their shop, its modular, adjustable on so many levels, no space wasted, imo its genius engineering. Built like a tank and its gonna last forever, good work.
I used to watch loads of these kinds of videos, especially woodworking ones. After a while it dropped off and I stopped watching most of the channels i followed. You are the exception, because i still watch and rewatch all your videos since they're so good. Keep it up.
You give a boot to the "near enough is good enough" theory when accuracy is critical. Video quality and instruction, warts and all, is really great and shows that even the best of us can make a blue, and correct it. For a young bloke, you've shown us old folk, that art and skill doesn't always give way to higher technology and teach the old hands, like me, quality and planning skills will "keep on, keeping on". You're a credit to your workshop and trade.
wow now that is heavy duty. You are certainly a credit to your craft. Precision workmanship at its best. As I was watching though i got to thinking. For someone setting up their workshop for the first time you really have to be strategic with which piece of equipment is key to make/purchase so you can set the rest up. Just recently made a stand for my port a band and had a bunch of other things already...soon as it was created it was the key to making pieces and tool stands for the rest of my gear.

Jeremy, your design and fabrication skills are impressive. The degree of precision and attention to detail makes for an impressive well built quality product. I hope your career plans are progressing. Fabrication and design in a custom shop is an essential skill set toward eventually landing your dream job if you will consider that goals are achieved not all at once but in a series of decisions. BTW, your dad is having his dream shop custom built in all of this. I hope he pays you well for the tools you've built or you get to keep it all.
Per your suggestion, Jeremy, I have extended the slot to allow for a little over travel in each direction. Because of this, when it comes time for the locking tab to be welded in, I won't be putting it at the end of the slot, but will leave a little gap. And I'm using adjustable zinc locking handles all over, instead of making my own or using a nut/bolt lockdown. Making my own didn't turn out quite as nicely as planned... 😳
You should make precut kits available. I think you would do very well. You have e a very nice design but most people don't have the patience or time to cut everything out. You have a bright future no matter what you do.

You do amazing work !!!! I bought the plans from you and I am going to build this grinder. The next project I recommend for you is to improve your welding table. I can not afford a Acorn table so I simply took my welding table that is 1/4 thick and drilled holes in a 3" X 3" pattern. Then welded 1" long pipe under each hole so my table is now 1 1/4 inch thick where the holes are for me to use custom made clamping tools. All of these clamps from welding shops are for to expensive, that is why I made my own. Just a thought.......keep up the great work.....you are the best !!!
I feel like the tables could use a T-slot, or something that you could put a miter gauge or a fence into, that way you can make sure that you're keeping everything square as you grind. Just a thought! Awesome video as always

We cannot create an angle of more than 45 degrees with this angle table. For example, we cannot create a knife sharpening angle. Is it adjustable 30 degrees.?
Jeremy, might be fun to go old school. Put your ideas down on paper (detailed schematics and lists of material, for laymen) and see about getting published. Might be nice to do a video on picking up steel and other materials as well. Just a suggestion. A lot of people may not even know where the best place would be to buy it.

One table you need to build, is about a 20° angle in the horizontal position. When your belt sander is in the horizontal position the table should be in an angle so you don’t wear out one section of your belt. I love the videos and plan on making this belt grinder soon. Maybe a surface grinder adapter would be an idea for another modification?? Keep up the good work.
I always just lock the grinder at ~20° angle if I don’t want to wear a strip in the belt. It doesn’t have to be horizontal or vertical, it can be anywhere in between.
i hope that: a) you patented your design. b) you make and sell them. and.. c) i win the lottery:) nicest grinder I've seen so far. outstanding work, young man.

You should eventually make this into a weld-it-yourself kit, like Troy does at SWAG Off Road. I'm good at machine designing components for output (like to laser or plasma etc)
your locking handle for the pinch-bolt can be a thick walled tube welded to a nut to get your handle away so as not to hit the table, and then drill a hole in the end of the tube and have a rod with balls on the end (like a bench vise) so if the handle ends up pointing the wrong way it doesnt interfere with your flat surface..........

I can not afford a Acorn table so I simply took my welding table that is 1/4 thick and drilled holes in a 3" X 3" pattern. Then welded 1" long pipe under each hole so my table is now 1 1/4 inch thick where the holes are for me to use custom made clamping tools. All of these clamps from welding shops are for to expensive, that is why I made my own. Just a thought.......keep up the great work.....you are the best !!!
I feel like the tables could use a T-slot, or something that you could put a miter gauge or a fence into, that way you can make sure that you're keeping everything square as you grind. Just a thought! Awesome video as always
Good idea... I don’t like the idea of breaking up a smooth surface with a slot, but it should really have at least true reference edges.
@@Jer_Schmidt True, you could also put something on the edges of the plate (might need thicker tables then though) that could have something like a tablesaw fence fit into

We cannot create an angle of more than 45 degrees with this angle table. For example, we cannot create a knife sharpening angle. Is it adjustable 30 degrees.?

Jeremy, might be fun to go old school. Put your ideas down on paper (detailed schematics and lists of material, for laymen) and see about getting published. Might be nice to do a video on picking up steel and other materials as well. Just a suggestion. A lot of people may not even know where the best place would be to buy it.

One table you need to build, is about a 20° angle in the horizontal position. When your belt sander is in the horizontal position the table should be in an angle so you don’t wear out one section of your belt. I love the videos and plan on making this belt grinder soon. Maybe a surface grinder adapter would be an idea for another modification?? Keep up the good work.
I always just lock the grinder at ~20° angle if I don’t want to wear a strip in the belt. It doesn’t have to be horizontal or vertical, it can be anywhere in between.
i hope that:
a) you patented your design.
b) you make and sell them. and..
c) i win the lottery:) nicest grinder I've seen so far.

To what I see you can install a lock handle. It would not interfere with the table unlocking or locking it somewhat as you showed us with the wrench.

You should eventually make this into a weld-it-yourself kit, like Troy does at SWAG Off Road. I'm good at machine designing components for output (like to laser or plasma etc)

your locking handle for the pinch-bolt can be a thick walled tube welded to a nut to get your handle away so as not to hit the table, and then drill a hole in the end of the tube and have a rod with balls on the end (like a bench vise) so if the handle ends up pointing the wrong way it doesnt interfere with your flat surface..........
