If you're wondering how to sign up for Medicare online, it's a relatively straightforward process. You can visit the official Medicare website or utilize the services of reputable agencies like ABT Insurance Agency, which specializes in Medicare and can guide you through the enrollment process. When considering your options for 2024, it's essential to explore the best Medicare supplement plans, such as Medicare Plan G and Medigap Plan N, to ensure comprehensive coverage. It's like attending a "Medicare school" to educate yourself on the various plans available. Ultimately, with the convenience of online enrollment, you can make informed decisions about your Medicare coverage and secure the best plan to meet your healthcare needs.Do Not get a Medicare supplement PLAN G before you watch this video. Medigap Plan G can be more expensive than Plan N and HDG (High Deductible Plan G). This is because Plan G provides more comprehensive coverage than Plan N and HDG.
Plan G offers the same benefits as Plan N, and additionally, it covers excess charges that may arise if a healthcare provider doesn't accept Medicare's approved amount as full payment.
Although Plan HDG may come with lower monthly premiums, it does necessitate a higher deductible payment before the plan's benefits become active. After meeting the deductible, Plan HDG provides coverage similar to that of Plan G.
Many companies like AARP have medicare supplement plan G or a part d prescription drug plan that you can use at CVS which now owns Aetna. If you want a Medigap plan n definitely try Cigna for their boomer benefits to seniors. Keep in mind whether you are in New York, Florida or California, the Medigap part g is the same. I could name major cities such as Houston Texas and Philadelphia Pennsylvania and a supplemental plan from United Healthcare will have the same hospital and doctor benefits.
Ultimately, the ideal Medicare supplement plan for an individual hinges on their unique healthcare requirements and financial considerations. It's crucial to thoroughly evaluate all the available options, comparing costs and benefits, before arriving at a decision.

Times two for my wife and I is $600 per month or $7200 per year for premiums whether we need medical care or not. If we go 10 years with no major health problems we be out $72,000. Brian, first off, thanks for one of the best layer out summaries of what you most likely will pay, and including part B into the spreadsheet. I have been watching these videos for 5 months now and this has been the most comprehensive and concise as to what you probably are going to pay yearly for the most common medi-gap NG plans.
When I talk to seniors that have been on Medicare for years they typically do not include the 174 dollars a month for plan B. Why? Because it is typically withdrawn automatically from their Social Security. Nevertheless it is still coming out of their pockets.
OK, so one thing I would add to this video, and please correct me if I am wrong, plan G allows you to come into at anytime without health pre-certification. So, theoretically you could start with plan N and if you wanted or needed to, in the future you could always switch to a plan G without health ‘penalties’?
One more personal question. If I am on VA healthcare (level 6 with a copay), would you recommend a different strategy then this video presents? I am sure there are many veterans watching this video with the same question, because VA is not credible coverage in terms of Medicare, accept for Part D.
Another personal question, although again pertinent to many of your viewers. What if we are covered by our spouses plan as we are approaching 65? Specifically if it is a plan with greater then 20 employees, and thus, deemed credible coverage. Should we delay Medicare?
I ask these additional questions with the outstanding spreadsheet presented in this video, as I am sharing with my friends. Thanks again!!!

Minnesota doesn’t have excess charges either. However, if you come to MN for treatment from outside the state you can be charged excess charges. I personally know seven people who have gone to Mayo Clinic for treatment which does charge excess if you’re from out of the state.

Unfortunately overuse of the system will raise premiums on Plan G. Additional tests will not cost more on Plan N but a copay will be involved up to $20. So people on plan N are not going to go running around to unnecessary doctors offices paying $20. Plan N rates stay more stable because of that fact. • @thx1138guy

There are two instances when underwriting to return to original medicare with a medigap policy is not required. One is when you move your primary residence to a new zip code. The second is if your MA provider drops out of your area. In these cases, you have guaranteed issue rights of getting a medigap policy without underwriting. This is great for renters as it's much easier for them to move than homeowners.

I've done the math a thousand times. Unless you enter medicare with a pre-existing condition that you know will cost major $$$ every year or wind up with one soon after turning 65, the G plan is not worth the premiums. The insurance company will win for sure. I start medicare in November and will not even consider a G plan.

Half of our calls want Plan N. No complaints about the plan this year.

I wonder if, in the future, the affordable care act will cover everyone's supplement plan G. Or, maybe, partially cover it so it is more affordable to more people. Wishful thinking?

There are tons of plan D companies and plans… that question is too generic.

@ John..Plan D is a Medigap supplement plan. PART D is the Prescription Program for Medicare. You are confusing the 2.

monthly? I’m on SSDI and Medicare A&B will be effective for me 3-1-24, I currently on long term disability with my employer and have health insurance through them, they told me my employer health insurance is primary and medicate is secondary. I have an active autoimmune disease and need infusion therapy and I need surgery to open my airway, so I’m wondering if I should get a g plan so I don’t incur too much out of pocket costs.

You can change a Medigap plan anytime during the year as long as the new company you choose excepts you.

If a person gets a supplement plan, "attained age" based, how much does it go up each year?

    • @greenwil

I've heard 2-3 percent a year on average.

Unless Medicare is different, this is a totally bogus definition of MOOP. MOOP in the health ins industry is the most you pay before insurance pays 100%.
