@sirenfan97 No, the P-15 got a brand new motor. We were thinking of stealing this Screamer's motor to fix the Howler though, because they're both technically the same siren (only one is on its side and rotates and one is upright and omni), but we haven't done too much of anything with the Howler yet. Probably just going to leave this guy alone and get another brand new motor for the Howler if a town ever decides they want it.
@douro20 Oh yeah, those knife-edge stator ports and the directional vanes in the rotor definitely help to increase sound output. You can definitely tell a difference right away when one's running backwards.
@MrSciencetificsasuke Same port ratio, only ACA sirens with the same 9/12 ratio have the 12 port side closest to the intake, which is why it's more dominant over the 9 port side (pulls in more air). The Federal 9/12 sirens are just the opposite; 9 port side is closest to the intake, which is why they have a deeper sound.
@murrfarms - yes, but if its rotating the other direction, its like the chopper is moving faster, making it louder. not by alot, or even a little, but Louder.
@TboltHurricane Not necessarily, but they very well could end up that way. I'm not so sure those universal motors that the Thunderbolt choppers/Model 2s use have a specific rotation direction, but then again I've never really paid much attention lol. It also doesn't matter with those types of rotors anyway, since they're bi-directional and move/chop the same amount of air either way they turn.
@2001scoop If you know of a town with one and they're going to be replacing their old sirens soon, that's your best bet. That and sometimes on a rare occasion, another collector may have one that they're selling, which is how we got this one.
@stlchevy95 They are about the same, my Grandpa bought that snapper riding mower and a snapper push mower in the early 80's. I still cut grass with them.
@Blue10AEMia That Snapper is gonna outlast any other mower you buy I swear. I mean y'all have already gone through like what, 3 or 4 other riding mowers while having that Snapper? lol
Can_Of_Beans It really depends on where you live as to what you can get away with and what you can't. In this case, his house is way out in the rural county area with few neighbors and everybody around there knows he runs a siren business, so they're used to hearing the occasional brief siren run-ups during the daytime. It would be a whole different story if this was in the middle of an urban area, where obviously there are going to be some repercussions if you randomly do this in such a densely-populated area.
+murrfarms I don't know why... Very few fire companies even have sirens anymore. Everyone has cell phones now. I'd imagine the only places it would cause concern are in areas where they have sirens for tornadoes.
Hey Man! Thank you for keeping this on your property and making sure you save the lives of others!

We bought it from another siren collector, not sure where he got it from though. I think it was about $350.
You; Aw yeah this is sweet!!!
Neighbor: WTF RUNN INTO THE BASEMENT KIDS
I noticed he has a vintage Snapper lawn mower.
+Andrew Carlstedt Yup, and a matching self-propelled push mower too. They are some awesome old mowers, can't beat 'em!
+murrfarms My grandfather has one just like it!

@murrfarms Yeah the Snapper has outlasted two MTD's, a John Deere, and a Cub Cadet. Probably because I'm the only one who uses it.
@ACAcyclone638 Um, no it isn't. It's a 10hp ACA Screamer, 9/12 port. If you listen closer, it sounds absolutely nothing like a Cyclone.

I thought Jeb took this siren apart to get the P-15 working.
Exactly like the sd-10
Marlon Vasquez oh yeah it is
yeah thats what i said
What about the aca howler
Except the 12 port portion is on the top, so it it heard over the 9 port
@hi91023 Sure tried to!
does the chopper on a Tbolt move the same direction the rotator moves the whole thing? like do both the chopper and the rotator spin right?
@Blue10AEMia Yup, it's all in the user! haha
@Blue10AEMia That Snapper is gonna outlast any other mower you buy I swear. I mean y'all have already gone through like what, 3 or 4 other riding mowers while having that Snapper? lol
wow does that take a long time to stop!
Lot's of momentum!
2 minutes and 30 seconds
Work at the factory in... 30 years ago.
It's definitely going to be louder because it has curved ports.
nice! what is the db rating of the Screamer?
is this for sale ??
what do your neighbors think of you
i just watched a video where someone made one out of wood for most likely less then 50$. But i love the idea with the lawn mower :)
where are you sounding this?? is it legal? just wondering because my cousin has one.
Good job
Chip wood with it :D
@2001scoop At every street corner in large cities
I think the snapper is as old as the siren itself lol
You GD right ACA wins over Federal! ASC just keeps improving while Federal fucks up worse.
Sounds just like an Allertor
DOSENT THE WORD "Screamer" get you there?
Free spinning like a jet engine...Takes forever to coast to a stop...
Yes it's legal, and since we have a business that involves sirens my neighbors are used to it.
It has a bit sick but still loud so i slowed down the volume
Are there laws against this?

@amtrak3501 114 @ 100 feet
sounds like a formula-1 car :D
It's easy to build your own siren from wood, check some video tutorials thera ere hundreds of them.
wtf
