Here, have a story: I've discovered The emperor's new groove a few years ago when I was looking for disney movies that I haven't seen yet and after watching a few youtube clips and having some of the best laughs I've had in ages, I fell in love with it. Then I decided to check out the songs as well, but I didn't really expect much from them since the style of the movie was so silly and I couldn't really imagine the characters singing. So when I clicked on this song, I thought it was gonna blow. I thought it was gonna be stupid and kinda painful to listen to. But I started listening anyways. I still remember that I was wearing a sweater in which I wiped my tears, while also laughing at the same time. This song was nothing what I expected it to be, it was absolutely beautiful, touching, with a gorgeous melody and great lyrics and I was so unprepared for this that I was crying my eyes out by the time the chorus started. It became one of my favourite Disney songs EVER and I listened to it all the time, until I slowly started forgetting about it. Now, around two years later, I've stumbled upon it again. I started listening and thought to myself: "ok, this is good...it's just like I remember it, I suppose..." But then the chorus came on and I suddenly almost felt tears in the corners of my eyes and remembered why I loved it so much. Because it's just damn beautiful. Good God, I love this song.

The disparity is because the movie was originally meant to be serious and Sting got involved early on in the process. This song is before the big 180 switch to comedy. Sting wasn't pleased.

But it's still not the same. I'm sorry, but I simply did not like Moana. Like, at all. I could not understand why Moana got a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes yet this film only got 85%, when this film has much more original characters, beautiful animation, and a well thought out story. The Emperor's New Groove > Moana.
Well, let's put it this way. Disney really wants 2D animation back as much as you do. And through Moana, they're really showing they want to do a 2D film again. The problem is the modern Hollywood system is so obsessed with money that it's preventing them from doing the field they love and helped popularize.
this song is really lovely and I can't imagine it as the ending song of the emperor's new groove, because I laughed so hard in the movie and the song made me quiet and think. it sort of gives me a break from all the drama but also is a good picture of the comedy.
It doesn't really gel well with the final product that the fact that it got nominated for an Oscar is a bit surprising (that may also be due to Sting's star power). I will admit that this does bare some resemblance to Madonna's "This Used To Be My Playground".
This song is so so so so SO touching to me. I went to see this film over fourteen years ago with my mother and sister and had not heard this until almost fifteen years later five after her passing and I finally find the song that ultimately describes having the best and most wonderful friend in your life. I cannot express how happy I feel hearing this creation. Done in my home state too!!!!!
This brings back so many memories. I really loved this film when I was in 4th Grade at the end I would replay and replay this song again cause It really captivated me. How I miss life back then I do not worry about anything just enjoying the young life and not having to worry about anything else everything was much more simpler than It is now 😓

The movie was on the final process of animation but disney executives decided to abandon the production fearing low incomes. The producers then change the whole plot and the movie we all love came out. I'm still waiting to see that movie 🍿

One of Disney's "lost"movies. Didn't get much hype. It was wonderful and one of my favorites. Very funny. Kronk's (Patrick Warburton) kids went to school with my son. Great family.

This song was going sung by Kuzco to Pacha in Kingdom of the Sun, early version of Emperor's New Groove. Kingdom of the Sun was going to be an adaptation of the Prince and the Pauper. Pacha was going to be fisically equal to Manco (later renamed Kuzco, a reference to Cusco City, who was the main city of Incan Empire) and Yzma was a vain sorceress and her sidekick was a talking talisman called Hucua.
Hmm...I think this song is from Kuzco's point of view in this film I never heard of this song was originally written for the early version of this film I think this song was written in this final version of the film since Sing's songs were removed from the early version and had to rewrite 3 songs for the final version ( which PISSED him off) I though this song was mostly like Kuzco and Pacha singing to each other or when Kuzco was alone in the jungle and still in his llama form sadly singing about their adventure and friendship between him and Pacha and how kind Pacha was to him and he's not the guy he used to be because of Pacha's kindness and him showing Kuzco that there are goodness and kindness deep deep down in Kuzco's heart I love this song though It's a great song for Kuzco's point of view Sting did a great job and he should've won an Oscar after everything he been through during the film's production It's so sad

This is Sting's best work! Message to Disney, please use that Meander technique for a feature film. The way that technique is able to seamlessly blend 2D and 3D animation is totally cool, and it could bring back 2D animation at the studio.

I like this song. Emperors New Groove was funny though I love how self centered Kusco was [kinda reminded me of Eugene Fitzherbert from Tangled]and he changes in the end. Probably my 12th favourite Disney movie.

I respect this song and the film because of everything the creators of this film been through during the making of this wonderful and very funny film

This is Sting's best work! Message to Disney, please use that Meander technique for a feature film. The way that technique is able to seamlessly blend 2D and 3D animation is totally cool, and it could bring back 2D animation at the studio.
it could. in fact, Moana was supposed to be animated entirely with the Paperman Technique or Meander as you guys like to call it. but, John Musker and Ron Clements didnt think the audience was ready for a full length feature with the Paperman Technique.
During 2020 my family has always stayed!!!! Even when everything is canceled, sickens comes, my funny friends (cousins and family) and me made it through!!
I used to watch this movie with my dad every weekend when i was a little kid... Well a couple years ago he passed away. listening to this almost makes me wanna cry

I like this song. Emperors New Groove was funny though I love how self centered Kusco was [kinda reminded me of Eugene Fitzherbert from Tangled]and he changes in the end. Probably my 12th favourite Disney movie.
