- in today's video we go to Strasburg Railroad to visit the steam locomotive Norfolk & Western 475 but unfortunately received bad news when we arrived. We also get to see the Civil War Day event that the rail road put on called "summer of 63".

Shouldn't be too long or hard of a fix, broken staybolts were a common incident back in the steam era, and Strasburg has the expertise in order to fix it. Great video dude!
Yep hopefully a quick fix! Thanks gor for watching!
To quote (or at least paraphrase) the one employee at a museum near me - "From the time they roll out the door at the factory, steam locomotives are always trying to shake themselves apart." It's just the nature of these beasts.
Very true statement
With 475 down and 90 entered in her 1472 inspection, 89’s gonna have a busy season. Great video.
For sure. Hopefully 475 will be a quick repair
@@Highrollers_Roads_N_Rails 475 has a few broken staybolts and a few leaks, so 475 won’t be back for probably a couple of weeks or so. It’s gonna need repairs to get fixed.
Ummmm sounds like they need to bring back 611 but unfortunately she is also needing work done
@user-tp7bl6dt2c I can't imagine we will ever see 611 in strasburg again but hopefully it will return to the buckingham branch's Virginia Scenic Railway in 2025
@Highrollers_Roads_N_Rails I was told that 611 wasn't gonna be running at Buckingham cuz she needed work done
I'm very love Strasbourg RR. Beautiful place and wonderful Locomotives. Thank You very much Sir for this Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That’s a good sign that 7312 is in the engine house for her return to operation
Not anytime soon, though, I was there in September when she was still in the backshop, they hadn't even started on her replacement tender and I also expect she still needs hydrostatic tests or whatever on her boiler.
Yeah unfortunately with 90 in her 1472 day inspection and 475 needing repairs I'm sure 7312 in on the back burner
4312 is so on the back burner it won't be seen in the foreseeable future.
Does that mean 89 is the only operable locomotive right now? How do they handle two train operation if only 1 steam locomotive is operational? Would they dare to use the black diesel switcher on one train?
@@robkrasinski6217 Dare? 8168 is Mavis during the Thomas days events, the only days they do two train ops, and is their daily freight workhorse otherwise.
Well at least this time with 475 it isn’t because 475 got her face caved tf in
Agreed thank god for that
First 475 smashed a Excavator back in November of 2022 but now this.
Yup 475 can't catch a break
475s been though worse. Literally, been through.
It most definitely has
Considering how 475 got into an accident that shattered it's smokebox door after crashing into an excavator its been through a lot worse
Thank you for letting me know why 475 was not in operation 👍
Your welcome. Glad I could figure it out myself
I wonder what will become of #7312.
Hard to say. I know it will steam again just a question of when
@@Highrollers_Roads_N_Rails I guess we’ll just have to wait and see
Jeez, at this rate, is 7312 ever coming back?
Seems like it's definitely gonna be on the back burner especially with 90 and 475 down
nice vid and 475 is 4-8-0 mastodon
Yep I mis spoke on the wheel arrangement. Thanks for watching!!
I think you miss spoke at 2:50
She is indeed a 4-8-0 in fact.
@@Scag1522 I know but I was just pointing it out
I definitely did. Good catch
