Although I was in primary school that year, I can still remember vividly when his campaign bus came to our street to campaign. We were group of young children just playing around the neighbourhood. We saw the bus packed on our street, without seeing anyone there, we began to sing "MKO is our man o" and all other jingles of his then. Suddenly, a young man appeared as the driver and gave us the highest currency then (20naira). We ate chocolates and drank lots of soft drinks from that money that day. That was one of the moments I never forgot while growing up. We were all heartbroken when we heard of his sudden demise. We were all waiting anxiously for his announcement as our new president then. Very unfortunate for Nigeria at that time.

the fact that this speech made some 28years ago or thereabout still resonates today, is a testament that nigeria is still being played by the same handbook by same players. anyone with an interest to lead nigeria would do well to get m.k.o's manifesto albeit very little changes and implement. Nigeria shall be great again
This was the campaign speech that got him ‘taken care of’. How dare this civilian promise and surely would do what his predecessors couldn’t do in all of the wasted years to solve Nigeria? How dare him…. That was the mindset of his eliminators… Rest On, MKO!
His core aspiration was meritorious and indigenous control of the state affairs. He really embodied independence. Would have been nice to see him in power.
Wow...he was truely a man of vision. He had seen Nigeria in and out. He wanted a Nigeria for Nigerians and so sad can anyone point out someone like him today..? This was the kind of man who would have groomed future leaders in Nigeria. We as Nigerians have truely lost.
