Yessss, I can confirm about "Oliver at Large" in VHS and know some of the lines by heart 😂. And I am all the way in Costa Rica in the Caribbean side . Thats how big they are as actors. I am just watching this episode of The CUT and being somebody who is close to 70 years old it is interesting to me that many of our younger people, including Wayne, appear to not truly understand the influence that Miss Louise Bennett, Leone Forbes and Oliver Samuels had on our Jamaican culture at home and abroad, and how they influenced how the world sees Jamaicans. Wayne seemed so surprised to understand that Miss Lou used to do pantomimes and plays. Those of us who are my age knows that that’s what she used to do, long, long, long before the addition of VHF’s & other things came along. We had the amazing benefit of growing up with Miss Lou doing pantomimes and plays and then going on to JBC TV and doing … I think it was called ‘Ring Ding’? Those who know, please help me out, add your memories, please!! we need to educate our younger people because they don’t understand the legacy that we Jamaicans have in theatre, and in Pantomimes and in plays. Does no one have our Jamaican entertainment history (other than Reggae and Bob Marley) recorded somewhere? BTW: Trevor Rhône is worth more than a passing mention. He was extremely involved in assisting high schools to be part of the theatre narrative.

I was one of those children who left the UK to Jamaica on a ship in the 60's. It took 3 weeks. It was alot of fun. So Glen's story is very true.

This was a refreshing watch. I love my Jamaican culture so much, It is great to hear parts of the story that isn't shown on screen.
I am just watching this episode of The CUT and being somebody who is close to 70 years old it is interesting to me that many of our younger people, including Wayne, appear to not truly understand the influence that Miss Louise Bennett, Leone Forbes and Oliver Samuels had on our Jamaican culture at home and abroad, and how they influenced how the world sees Jamaicans. Wayne seemed so surprised to understand that Miss Lou used to do pantomimes and plays. Those of us who are my age knows that that’s what she used to do, long, long, long before the addition of VHF’s & other things came along.
We had the amazing benefit of growing up with Miss Lou doing pantomimes and plays and then going on to JBC TV and doing … I think it was called ‘Ring Ding’?
Those who know, please help me out, add your memories, please!! we need to educate our younger people because they don’t understand the legacy that we Jamaicans have in theatre, and in Pantomimes and in plays.
Does no one have our Jamaican entertainment history (other than Reggae and Bob Marley) recorded somewhere?
BTW: Trevor Rhône is worth more than a passing mention. He was extremely involved in assisting high schools to be part of the theatre narrative.
Great job Wayne👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 So enjoyed this and shocked to reveal that I danced on Ring Ding with Miss Lou (I was horrible an my poor mother was horrified and this resulted Ina beaten) but looking back so proud to be alive during this genre. Love the legends Oliver & Titus❤❤❤❤
