One thing I've noticed with Dirk: he's the only drummer I've heard so far who hasn't been afraid to listen out for, or even allow for, opportunities for space. Everyone else has tried to fill everything, but he's good with stopping for a moment when it's needed. Very cool, and an underrated skill musically!
Another G.O.A.T Drummer. Not the fastest. Not the most powerful. But a so well rounded total package. Our generation is blessed havin so many great Drummers.
I never heard this song until Dirk did this song!! I have heard of Paramore but I slept on them and wished I hadn't done that!! Good news is that I have tons of their material to listen to and it will seem all new to me while the youngsters at work were very surprised I never listened to their music hahaha!! they said "their music are as old as dirt....just like you" hahahaha!! I am 54 years old BTW!!
Dirk is one of the best metal session drummers out there, maybe the best. For those who don't listen too much metal and might not know he does lot's of session stuff besides Megadeth, many of these being complicated music. He demonstrated in two videos how he can listen a track with no drums just once, make up his own drum parts and at the same time try to serve the song and not fill everything with unnecessary fills etc then give it one go that would pass as final cut for many drummers out there. If anyone b*tches that he didn't sound exactly like the original, then they are miserable, missed the whole point of this exercise and should leave the drums to the rest of us who appreciate it and enjoy it.
Meinl cymbals channel has a bunch of videos of him playing songs from his own band Scarve if you want to hear Dirk with zero restraints :) Would recommend "Irradiant" and "Asphyxiate"
Wow… a very interesting take It’s really not bad, and I think had he added a little more double bass drums he would have KILLED IT. For a one listen and one take never hearing this version, I think he absolutely did a SICK job, kudos to him without a doubt I do love the half time, he didn’t do bad, seriously Dirk job well done man 🔥
@@joelyjamz I gotta say, Dirk's playing is so tasteful. Also, we noticed the china sounded sick at the same time which I thought was funny! Nice reaction!!!
Just for musicality, personalty and creativity I'd hire Dirk in a heartbeat for any project outside of Jazz that requires live drums... Then again - maybe even jazz 🤔
Loved this playthrough!!!
What shall I react to next!!!
I could watch him drum all day every day. Dirk is not only a world class drummer but a world class human. Such a genuinely great and modest guy.

Mate your face around 5:30 was my exact reaction 😂 he’s so awesome!
😂😂😂
The reason why is he is right to the rhythms because he not only plays the drums, he has a musical ear, he is really a musician.
❤️❤️
Dirk's performance was good enough for the studio recording!!

Wouldn’t say that personally. Toured the world and currently on a huge world tour with Taylor Swift 😂
