    Hi Mynda. Great Custom Number Formatting tips. Too bad the native emoji colors are not possible to display. Worth noting that you can still put standard colors on them, as in: [Green][>80]"🙌";[Yellow][>50]"👌";[Red]"👎". Not as good as native, but maybe better than gray scale. Thanks for the video and good learning. Thumbs up!!

      @@MyOnlineTrainingHub oh, hi :)... YT channels such as yours are invaluable. Love it.
      Speaking about formatting... Is there any way to display correctly a negative time value? For example time worked - time due... Let's say someone needs to work 8 hours but only worked 7 there is a -1 hr to catch up. If someone works 9 hrs instead, there's a 1 hr overtime. The simple formula =(worked-due) doesn't seem to work in both cases. Thank you.

    You are my Excel Master.
    I am wondering only one thing. If someone knows the possibilities of custom formatting, the same icons can be used in conditional formatting.
    The advantage of this approach is that the syntax for these conditions is a bit easier, and you can add more conditions (I heard you can insert 64 conditions ;-).
    Best regards

    Does it mean, that the custom format with [] criteria beats the default "positive;negative;zero;text" custom format logic?

  • @overdraftracing
    @overdraftracing 4 года назад

    stupid question I'm sure, but once you've created a custom format, how do you make it available throughout Excel? I built a specific number format I wanted to reuse but I couldn't get it to stick in Excel. Every time I created a new worksheet I had to start building the format from scratch as it wasn't in the custom list anymore... Thanks for any help!

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  4 года назад

      You need to save the custom format in your default workbook: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/customize-default-excel-workbook

    Hello. I have a problem with a spreadsheet that contains a very large number of custom cell formats which prevents me from copying a tab from this file to another spreadsheet. I have tried to remove all the custom formats manually but the "too many custom formats" message persists. I have the 2013 version of Excel. Do you know how to fix this?
    Thanks you for your tips and advices.

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  2 года назад

      You'll probably need some VBA to clean the custom formats from the file. If you do a Google search on it, I'm sure you'll find some code.

    Hi Mynda. why i can not do that format [>=1000000]$#.0,,"M"; in my excel 365. When I do this the commas appear and the number does not format

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  3 года назад

      Hi Antonio, I suspect you are on a European number format where dots are commas and vice versa. Try [>=1000000]$#,0.."M"; and see if that works.

    One thing to keep in mind when colour coding numbers, is that you might have a colour blind colleague. I constantly have to remind not to use red for negative numbers. 😕
