Of all the Hollywood greats and there were a few, Miss Barabara Stanwyck was my very favourite. I absolutely adored this woman's personality, character, enormous talent, and her beautiful face. What is a woman?.........Barbara Stanwyck. Thank you for this video.
As an eight and nine-year-old little girl watching the reruns she was my idol. Coming from a very abusive home can we once were on every day at 4 o’clock. And I just love Barbara Stanwyck. I know this will sound silly and kind of stupid but she taught me so much. Her character taught me to have a voice for myself. In the big valley taught me that there is love in the family. Along with the Waltons. Coming from a home where there was no love these two shows did so much for me. I wish I was a writer and could put it in a better way. But the Waltons in the big valley taught me to be a decent human being.I am so so grateful for these shows
In an odd way, I think Miss Stanwyck achieved an even greater beauty in her maturity, than she did when she was a leading lady of the 30's and 40's. She positively radiant here. Lovely tribute.
Favorite actress by far. If I would have been in that show, would be in awe of her! So many great movies. If she was in a movie, she made it worth watching. Thanks for the tribute.
In a genre of bigger-than-life fathers, this western had a bigger-than-life mother who was the main reason that I watched the show as a kid. Barbara Stanwyck was awesome!
Simply the best actress ever. She will always be my number one favorite of all time. No one else had a career as long as hers. She worked up until the very end. Loved her in the Big Valley as well as my personal hunk Lee Majors. Barbara helped Lee a lot in the Big Valley and I'm sure he owes much of his success as an actor because of her.
Oh MISSY! The world was a better place with you in it. There never was, nor will there ever be another like Barbara Stanwyck!! This tribute is wonderful!
There can never be another performer of the caliber of Stanwyck, there can be no question of that. The fact that we have her display her sheer professionalism in this series and in all her work before and after demonstrates for all time that this is what drive and talent produces. It has nothing to do with a fleeting hit record or a few appearances in Harry Potter, it is pure stardom whichever way you look at it. Stanwyck was a great star and always will be.
In Fireball with Gary Cooper she simply breaks hearts...on the Big Valley we all want a mother like her.....wise, elegant, beautiful, sense of humor, proud!!!!
This was a great show, and it deserved to go a lot longer than it did. Barbara's role started out with her often indoors in fancy gowns coming down the stairs, but she wanted more from it and later she became in essence the female "Ben Cartwright". A great actress and first class woman all the way.
Boy, does this tribute take me back to the days of my youth! It evokes such deeply personal memories for me. What a wonderful program this was! It's hard to believe that Barbara Stanwyck was only 58 when they started filming The Big Valley. She had such a commanding presence about her. Such class, such dignity, such poise.
So glad you enjoyed. Yes indeed Barbara was the greatest among the greats. I discovered her at the young age of 15 and have been a fan since 1971. I have seen 95% of all her work on film and television. This was my humble tribute to her Big Valley days, but it doesn't come close to showcasing her talent, greatness and her commanding presence.
WOW ! This gave me chills ! Thank you for sharing ! I loved The Big Valley and the entire cast ! Loved Barbra personality and acting skills . Of course she is stunningly beautiful !
perhaps, the most beautiful lady in films. Never a knock-down georgious lady, but a women with style, grace, and manners. Ill never stop watching the big valley
This is a wonderful tribute! I loved anything Barbara Stanwyck was in. Growing up, The Big Valley was my favorite show and I absolutely loved the theme song. This brings back so many wonderful memories. Thank you for posting.
great video, thank you so much! The first time I saw barbara acting was as victoria in The big valley and I loved her for her greatness as an actrees and depth as a person."There is such an amazing tragic stillness about her. She never steps out of it and she never put it on but it is always there She is more expressive and resonant than any other actress.." the queen, again nd for ever!
Love her! Thornbirds, Big Valley, and have recently watching her in older movies. No Man Of Her Own and a 1932 movie...can't remember the title but she great in all of them. We lost a good one. She would be 105 today if she were still living
LOVED this show when I was little... 8,9,10... The first summer my brother and I got to stay home by ourselves... Big Valley came on at 9am.... I would watch... an finally worked up the courage to take my horse for a stroll... ALTHOUGH this was STRICTLY forbidden! Could NOT begin to life the saddle on so I did the old bare back thing with little beach tennies. I would get into my role as another cast member as I cast my vivid imaginations accross the 'plains' of our 20ish acres GOOD memories.
Thanks so much! This was my all time favorite prime time TV show growing up. Loved the Victoria Barkley character and Jarrod was another favorite. Glad you enjoyed, STANWYCK was the BEST !!!
Great tribute,BV is one of the best western shows I've seen, all wonderful characters, well written stories,i agree it should have lasted longer,so bad they dont do great shows like this any more.thanks jonrose44
I'm a new fan to this show and therefore haven't seen a whole lot of episodes, but I have seen a lot to be completely amazed and/or blown away by miss Barbara Stanwyck, who was incredibly beautiful (both inside & out), and an amazingly tough old lady! XD Out of all the Victoria scenes I've seen so far, the catfight she has in "Empire of Rice" where there's fire, fireworks, swords, whips, falling debre, etc, is my favorite. :D:D:D
@HollyGoLightly1978 thank you for your comments.....she was beautiful and classy and one-of-a-kind......her like will NEVER be seen again in Hollywood.....long may she reign as "Queen Babs".....
@TheTweeter53 ....Thank you....your comments are heartfelt.... so glad you enjoyed my humble tribute to this great TV Classic.......still an underrated and under-appreciated TV classic from the great days of '60's TV.....
I wish they had shown the clip where she stands up to Charles Bronson. She really put the macho man in his place. What a beautiful lady and one of the greatest actors in history.
B. Stanwyck's character's name was Victoria Barkley....big powerful name Victoria for a big powerful character....Stanwyck was pretty powerful name too!
the episode in which she shined the best was danger road, show casing beauty toughness in that black attire.also the challenge where she brawls with the black mailer and manhandles him
Thank you for your very nice comments. The music is actually from the original album soundtrack of "The Big Valley" TV series from the mid-sixties. Was able to find a great copy off ebay a few years back. Two-sided album of all Big Valley music. The album was recorded in the first season of the series, 1965, so the music from the 3rd & 4th season which had a more "westernly" feel is not on the album, but nonetheless it is priceless.
@scotnick59 You get no argument here. The single greatest American film actress I have ever seen. With apologies to the other greats, who we know. But after 55 years of doing this, who else could have rubbed down a naked Richard Chamberland in THE THORN BIRDS, and convinced us about it?
Interesting trivia here....Barbara Stanwyck insisted on doing her own stunts on this show. Pretty brave! And Lee Majors worked for the Parks Department when he landed the role of "Heath Barkley" on The Big Valley. He thought it would not make it and he would go back to his old job!
According to her biographies, she reigned surpreme on the Big Valley set. Was very much a part of the entire filming process and was just one of the guys on the set, the crews always loved her. I think she had issues with the sorry writing and scripts on "The Colbys" and she had issues with the younger prima donnas on the show. She had a very low tolerance for unprofessionalism and prestigousness.
Stanwyck had a humanity about her that was second to none. Crawford, Davis and Hepburn wreaked havoc on their sets. Not so with Missy. Everyone adored her because she never played the prima Donna. That’s why she acted rings around the other three and the reason why she’s the most underrated of classic movie actresses and the other three are overrated.
@klropft "Night of the Wolf"....where Nick was bitten by a wolf and thought he was going to die within 30 days....little Ronnie Howard played in this show and so did Nancy Olsen.
Check out that footage at 1:44..What a sexy image, a beautiful woman dressed in black with a rifle. She's usually protecting her kids....I'm enjoying this show on METV.
MRS. BARKLEY GOT MAD SHE BIT HER WAY OUT OF TROUBLE. WHEN MRS. BARKLEY GOT TO MAD SHE HAD A BIG BITE. WHICH IS GOOD NO ONE SHOULD PUT UP WITH A BUNCH OF BULL CORRALLING NONESENSE.
Such a lovely tribute to the late, GREAT Miss Barbara Stanwyck!
Of all the Hollywood greats and there were a few, Miss Barabara Stanwyck was my very favourite. I absolutely adored this woman's personality, character, enormous talent, and her beautiful face. What is a woman?.........Barbara Stanwyck.
Thank you for this video.

Beautiful you are for saying !
Listen: as a boy, the Brothers Barkley were my role models. Coming from a pretty dysfunctional upbringing, they eased my pain considerably!
As a kid growing up with 'The Big Valley' I feel in love with Barbara Stanwyck and am still a fan of her movies today. What an extraodinary actress!
There NEVER was or will be another Barbara Stanwyck. She was a classy, gutsy original whose performances will NEVER fade
In an odd way, I think Miss Stanwyck achieved an even greater beauty in her maturity, than she did when she was a leading lady of the 30's and 40's. She positively radiant here. Lovely tribute.
Agree 100%
The greatest of greatest Actresses of all time, and what an amazingly beautiful woman !!!!!

Thank you so much. This is a beautiful tribute to a great actress. Stanwyck was a class act all the way. They don't make them like her anymore.
And they never will again either!!!!!

Just read she was orphaned at age 4.
Foster homes and then her accomplishments !
This woman was AMAZING

beautiful what you said I was 13 in 1960 when I discovered her in a movie Golden Boy
I was only five when this came out so I watched reruns later and still today

Nicely put together. I remember watching The Big Valley every week with my parents.
I LOVED THE MUSIC THEME FOR THE BIG VALLEY AND OF COURSE BARBARA STANWCK! THANKS FOR THIS TRIBUTE! :)
Awesome lady. Emmy winner! Best part of The Big Valley. She worked the western runway in black. Starring Miss Stanwick 4ever.
Awesome show...I would not miss one of the
shows...loved it...and still do.
Me also . Couldn’t miss a show !
Queen of any medium any genre
She became more beautiful with age,
Absolutely!!!!!
Look at her in the 3rd and 4 th season of Big Valley with the second version of the theme and see how beautiful she looks in that stream!!!!!
You're right. And always really thrilling with her acting. I still don't understand why Hollywood cannot see that she was among the finest.
This is a wonderful tribute! I loved anything Barbara Stanwyck was in. Growing up, The Big Valley was my favorite show and I absolutely loved the theme song. This brings back so many wonderful memories. Thank you for posting.

I loved this vision of the west.
One tough lady 👑💪
Barbara was 58 when the show started and 62 when it ended..I agree she was a beautiful lady..
She was extraordinary on different levels, scared the s*** of me as a kid, and I loved her.
Love her! Thornbirds, Big Valley, and have recently watching her in older movies. No Man Of Her Own and a 1932 movie...can't remember the title but she great in all of them. We lost a good one. She would be 105 today if she were still living

She was a beautiful class act.

She looked pretty good for 58-60 years old.
Great work JONROSE
If her hair wasn't gray, she would not have looked like the mother! I loved this show back in the day and I was just a kid.

Ms.Stanswych watch the Big Valley. As the patriarch of the Barkley’s.
Weird watching a movie with her Christmas in Connecticut 1945 she looks about 25 and big valley premiered in 1965 but yet she looks in her 60s?
Amen!
