maybe because of the open air filters, that its getting too much air, to test it you can tape them of and leave a tiny gap, if that doesnt make a diffrence you can take the filters of and look if the vacuumslider for the gasneedle works if you give it throttle, maybe you should do that first and then the tape thing ^^, the old carbs probally had bigger jets in them for the open filters.
Thanks for your advice however the carbs have already been set for cone air filters and I know there in good working order. It's more likely to be an electrical fault/problem as the bike ran to begin with but I haven't ruled the carbs out completely. Some further investigation is required.. :)
@@Ratqueenbikes hey Queenie!.. Great stuff as always!. Have to give a shout out about the petcocks on these bikes.. Not to belive if not tried out,.. But get a petcock on a loan to try out, and see how it works.. Your time will eventually pay off.. - and you're having a great bike there!.. :-)
i opend the main jets on my old GS550 rat using a micro drill bit. you can get them off fleabay. dont see thew point of fitting pod filters only to tape them up to reduce air flow!! get bigger jets to compensate extra air flow and get more power from your engine.
@@stephenczyrt5995 if youre searching for the problem you can use tape, for long terms you can replace the jets, a micro drill bit? good change you will damage your jets and make some bigger, i always used brake cleaner and iron wire wich fitted trough the hole in the jet ^^
For me, the spark of the new bobbin was weaker than the weakest spark of the old one. New is sometimes China junk, and sell them as original in some stores. So you will have to check everything from electrical. And carburettors, synchronization, air, quality gasoline. You can also try with Scotch whiskey. Promises and ultimately threats :-)
Thanks hun, very well said and I completely agree. I have to check everything and you could be right about the spark plug. The bike is testing my knowledge and skills to the max! ;-)
@@duncanrae7504 Hi hun hope your doing fine? It's not the same this year and I miss the laughs we had at the rallies. Time will tell with regards to the bike! Take care and stay safe! :)
P.S. Given that the bike was running well in the house, and now not in the garage. Could you have a moisture or corrosion problem. I've only had twice that. The 1st time was water in the petrol, refueling at an almost empty petrol stantion. 2nd time, new nozzles in the carburettors = In the 2 cases the engine starts but has no power.
Good suggestions thanks hun but I can't see it being moisture. Your right about it running well in the house. It's more than likely electrical but with some further investigation hopefully we'll find out soon. I haven't ruled out the carbs but plan to..
Four bowls with four floats on four levels? - far better for Squint if they match, four slides all reliant on vac pipes, now free & with nowhere to catch? Four needles, four jets & ten swearwords, for threads that just want to go wonky, they're small & they're brass & they're fiddly, not easy for human or donkey . . . (hooves & that? - so sue me) But worrieth not, for Squint has a maiden, a fair lady to nurse all his ills, she'll measure & check out his suction, for progression, with no sudden thrills. The thought of all of this happening, has made me forget where I was, oh yeah, - Bangs with farts & stoppages - fair problem, a quest to be found, but I bet you a quid when you find it, the 'fix' will cost less than a pound. Good hunting (pun intended : ) x
You brought tears of laughter to my face! Thanks hun an awesome comment and brilliant poetry as always! You could write a book called the tales of Squint MacHaywire! Lol :)
Logic :-) You had soldered that old bobbin, and then the engine worked well. The wire is broken The engine block does not go well with new bobbins. Or the bobbins are connected incorrectly? Conclusion, repair the old bobbins, and try again. If then goes well ....
Thanks for trying to help hun. When you say bobbin I presume you mean the coils. Unfortunately the old broken coil is beyond repair and one of the leads was burnt out. As for the new coils I tested them before connecting them to the bike and all was good. Yes they are connected correctly. I suspect it's something else electrical? I'm still investigating and should have an answer for the next video..
Thanks for your comment but unfortunately I can't. The bike was chopped and modified before I got it and there is no room to put an original air box on.
Such a loveley voice. And a biker.
Hi and thanks for watching :)
Great job! Once again the queen has come through with her trouble shooting skills without even having to break out the WD-40.
Great comment thanks hun. No wd-40 makes a change! lol. I think the bike is beyond that at present and the cause of the problem needs to be found!?
Hope you get it sorted without to much more trouble RQ. You better than me with the ol electrics
Sweet comment, thanks hun and I'm always learning more. From every challenge skills can evolve! Best wishes and stay safe :)
Damn girl I even mute the TV to watch your vids lol
So sweet thanks and it's just a set back. Once I find the problem I'll fix it! :)

Its always a drag when you've replaced all the ignition things and its still not wanting to run right.
Your doing a great job process of elimination that's all
Thanks for believing in me, that means a lot. Some problem solving next time! ;)
Every time I watch one of your videos, I swear I can smell, WD-40.
Lovely to hear from you thanks hun. It's blowing in the wind to you! Wd-40, grease and motorbikes.. smell like sweet perfume! :)

Just had a new spark plug fail too . I think the issue is in the carbs ,the vacuum for the diaphragms .

Leva em uma oficina mecânica.. tem que fazer a equalização dos carburadores..
Thanks for your comment however I will fix it myself..

I would get rid of those tiny air filters

Ratqueenbikes id recommend trying to start the bike with them removed. Ive used similar filters and they choke out the bike 👍
Won’t be long now before it’s up and running..
Thanks for your positivity! I won't give up and I hope so! :)
