I haven’t been engrossed by a tv series in a long while. Well done Slow Horses cast and crew! Here’s to many more seasons to come. Absolutely engaging.
Thank you, now I'm going to watch it, after watching Mr Robot and a couple other series that kept me entertained, and then they end and I'm searching again, this seals the deal, the search is over, thanx😊
I've had to stop drinking any fluids whilst watching it. I'm fed up with ending up with coffee, water, etc coming out of my nose as I try to not choke on it whilst laughing lol
This British series is CRAZY!!!! The 4 seasons are impressive and the actors are all excellent, especially the incredible and unforgettable character of Jackson Lamb played by the talented Gary Oldman, whom I love!!!!
Loved the show, having just finished watching all 4 seasons over Christmas, honestly the writer of this is a genius. As for the actors, well done! Not many can hold a series together like this and Gary Oldman can still have you on the edge of your seat. And wanting you to send him some soap & socks? I got so engrossed in this series after I'd finished season 4 that I started to read the books and that's saying something, in this day & age. If you haven't seen it yet, then you are in for a real treat, as this was amazing.
Didn't know anything about this show, until the road was blocked blocked off for 5 minutes, while i was trying to get to Barbican station......about 10 minutes ago. So we stood there and watched the filming. Asked a marshal what they were filming, she told me, and that's why i googled it 😀. Looks interesting, might give it a watch 👍
I started watching this last night after a ton of recommendations. Two episodes in and I'm loving it. I'm also going to try integrating "...like explaining Norway to a dog" into my lexicon!
I read the book Slough House first and it was awesome. Was so excited when I saw this on AppleTV. Have seen S1-S3. S3 was extra epic. Love all the characters. Can’t wait to see S4 and I must read the other books. There’s at least 8 books I think. Recommend the book, it’s a tad darker with a slightly different path and an excellent opening chapter
The name of theTV series is Slow Horses, but they make the connection to mispronouncing Slough House. The book series is entitled. Slough House. I assume the British pronunciation is the root of the pun as American pronunciation of the term “slow horses” would sound nothing like “slough house”.
@@janeshartzer7720the books are called Slough House but the first novel is called Slow Horses. The first TV series is based on that. Each of the next series is titled after another book, in order.

Give Kristen Scott Thomas a better role than just another Judy-Dench/Bond or Joan Allen/Bourne or Kisten Scott Thomas/MI Ethan kind of role staring at computer screens. She deserves better.

Actually lots of nods to cultural shifts in the dialogue, with no clear agenda that I could make out other than being funny. Eg. There's lots of un-pc comments as well as lots of challenging the un-pc comments, but the characters managing to collaborate despite their differences. Fun for all the family 😛
@@somewhatprivatetimely reply; I've watched the whole thing and the "white man is always the liability" thread runs through the entire thing. It's very awkward. The first season is about the IRL non-existent threat of that same demographic. In the most recent season the head white guy ("main chair") is seen as a bumbling bureaucrat who can't do as well as the old lady with the meagan rapinoe haircut. Literally the only thing that makes this remotely watchable is Oldman and that's probably because he's the only real actual actor in the whole thing. The writers made the same mistake they always do with this medium: people side with the Archie Bunker, Homer Simpson, Al Bundy, etc. archetype and _not_ with what's acceptable in Current Year despite the opposite wishes of the writers. *3.4 / 10* will only watch now due to sunk cost fallacy 👌
Very well acted by Oldman. Very poorly written. You can tell this is a British-scripted Hollywood script just by the absurd storyline that challenges your believability at every step. Thoroughly implausible dialogue and scenes. It's totally ridiculous. But, Gary Oldman's acting is quite well done and worth watching. I'm still on Season 1 and a number of comments say the storyline doesn't improve until Season 2, so I'll give it a go until then, to see if it's true.
Gary Oldman is great but I could barely make it through the first episode of the first season. Seems to be completely written by people who have never set one foot outside their own ultra left-wing bubble.
I agree that many of the scenes are implausible if not downright contradictory. It's very poorly thought out, actually. But, as you note, Oldman gives an excellent performance.
Was honestly not too sure about Oldman in the past, but he is just brilliant in this show. I'm not familiar with the books, but I intend to be. Hate to say it, maybe it's just me, but Jagger's song and singing is just awful 😞
But, Jagger's song in the intro is the highlight of the series. Although, you're right that Oldman's performance is excellent. But, many of the scenes are remarkably implausible.
Only here to celebrate that I’ve got my skip intro game down. That godawful, tedious jagger track is the only bad thing about this show, but it’s a doozie. The audio equivalent of trying to flush a clingy octopus down a toilet.
Great Series. Series 2 was far better than series 1(a bit too satirical/ludicrous). But series 2 much better. And Gary Oldman is superb, channelling an even more scruffy Columbo😂. Can't wait to finish it and see next series. Hope Oldman signs up to do 'Smiley's People' too. The time is certainly right for more le Carre.
Hopefully, you are right. I'm still watching Season 1, and much of it is hard to believe, if not entirely implausible. But based on what you say, I may give it to the 2nd Season to see if the scenarios and the writing become more believable.
I agree in many respects. The plausibility of the scenes, especially in the beginning episodes, are difficult to accept. But Oldman gives a good performance.
