Oh, that's pretty much any time I'm working on any motorcycle most days. Getting older and grumpier :) If it's a Harley, it just tends to be a few times worse!
YES!!!! There you go! How many comments received on 'Do it Right The First Time', 'Contacts Need Cleaned', etc.....as if I didn't already try all of that. The RIGHT way I suppose to fix this issue would be to replace the entire turn signal unit. However, with it being a minor issue and infrequent occurrence, I'll save the couple hundred bucks (last I checked) from getting a new one and spend that money elsewhere. If it was a more serious issues (CDI box for instance) - then yes, I'd replace it. Glad to see this helped someone out!!!
Give it a try, can't hurt! Some have suggested the plug is the culprit, but I don't think so as I've checked. Something on the inside gets messed up - the angle bank sensor I'm guessing. I don't have to do this THAT often. Maybe a couple times per year. Check back if it works 🤣
I’m having this issue on a 2007 Road King converted to Street Glide. Right switch won’t turn on. Left blinks fine. Checked fuses and all good. I might try this before I replace the switches
@@retro_grade it didn’t work unfortunately! I checked the codes on the bike. It gave me b1124. Also, it’s offering a part number 68924-07 which ended up being the signal module. Maybe it’s time to replace? Left signal works fine. Running lights work fine. Both signal buttons work fine. Just the right blinker won’t engage
@@mobkinq yeah if it were me going through it, that'd probably be my next move :( I'm actually surprised I haven't had to replace mine yet and that my "fix" continues to work on my end.
From what I recall, I think I did that the first time that I had this issue, along with cleaning the ignition switch as well with no luck. Somehow I found that wrapping on it fixed it. Although, I may try again to make sure. It happens every now and then when the bike sits for awhile - I'm thinking that something gets stuck on the inside of the module (since it detects when the bike leans over and back to shut the turn signals off automatically). Wrapping on it always fixes it - many times, it will also fix itself with the natural vibration from riding. Once it's fixed, the issue doesn't return until the bike sits for some time again (several months at least). Surprisingly, I have not had any dirty contacts on this particular Harley yet!
@@retro_grade Obviously a bad connection. My Sportster had the same issue. I cleaned both sides and put a slight bend on the male prong. This is more for anyone reading this, seeing as you’ve figured yours out.
I can't recall, it came on the bike. I think it's just a standard sportster seat with the slim passenger pillion built in? Maybe the part number is underneath?
“Oh god ****** ******* Harley!!”
Sounds like me working on my bike 😂😂😂

... This actually fixed it... Spent several weeks narrowing down the problem and it came down to just cave maning that dang thing till it worked...

Damn. Just saved me taking it to the shop. Did exactly as you showed. Worked like a charm....awesome
Ha, glad to hear it worked out!!!
It actually worked for me 😂
That's awesome to know I'm not the only one LOL. I think the bank sensor on the inside probably sticks.
Glad this helped!
Lol. Ah yes, a little friendly persuasion. 👍🏻
Works every time 🤣
It’s 4am right now. Walking to my motorcycle.. I swear.. if this fixes my lights..
It's fixed several others so far, let us know if it works 🤣
@@retro_gradeI tip my hat to you 😂 a couple good smacks, my brake & signals started working. Thank you for this video ✅
@@HodgyArms nice, chalk another one up repaired!!! Glad we could help 😂😂
My 2000 heritage is doing the exact same thing!! Hopefully that fixes it 😂

I've had several comments thanking me for the tip so far, as crazy as it may seem! Let me know if it works! Fingers crossed.

Unplug and spray with contact cleaner. First thing I do when buying an older HD.

Ha, hopefully that wasn't the only reason you traded your Harley in?!
What model is that seat?

🏍🏍🏍🎸🎸🤘🎶🎶🎶💀💀💀Thank you for help
Did it actually work? Nice!! Glad to help!
Start it up and rev it that’ll do it too
Yes, the engine vibration after riding a bit I've found will clear it up too!
Instructions unclear. Ended up buying a honda
I mean, pretty much bang on it until it works.
You're alot better off 😂
300 years and they still can't figure out how to get them things to work simple and easy😂😂😂
There are actually some things that Harley managed to do right, but for whatever reason the bank angle sensor in the turn signal unit not so much!
😂😂😂
Ha, glad you found it entertaining! As funny as it is, it's worked many times for me!
Now what if that dont work? Then what
Likely replace turn signal module would be my next move
You should talk nicer to your bike, she might perform better for you then 😂
@ Wilcox Garage - Harley Davidson's actually run better when they're spoken dirty to.....
