Doug, you always amaze me with your teaching ability. When you first mentioned you really liked a tape measure, I’m thinking why? Tell me more. Then you went home and sure enough, you told us more and more and more. Wow! I had no idea there were so many different types of tape measures. So cool. Thanks again for being you.

Belle’s love of bugs has rubbed off onto Maverick. I love it! He’s getting so big and intelligent! I love it when you find something. He’s so interested in it. And when he comments, he sounds like a wise old man. The wall frames were easy to install. You’re getting closer to walls which makes me happy and eager for the next faze. Have a restful weekend.💕

My husband loses a lot of tape measures. I think he usually forgets them at the hardware store. I remember both my dairy farmer grandpas had those wooden measuring things stuck in an overall pocket that were like a bunch of small rullers hooked together that would click into shape making longer ones. One had a round very skinny tape in a metal case that would pull out. It may have not been metal tape. I think it was only about a quarter inch wide if even that. I think it had to be reeled back in. Both grandpas also had a tin of Copenhagen snuff tucked into their Oskosh B'Gosh pockets, or some Black Jack gum. Precious memories of Grandpas who always let me "help" drive their Ford tractors, help feed cows, wash milkers, and even collect maple sap.

Nice tape collection. The black tape was a first for me. I knew a carpenter that had over 100 old manual hand planers. He kept them in a footlocker. They had all been used and well-loved. Measuring tapes and manual hand planers are 'tools of the trade'. Your mobile home is taking shape. I never once doubted or questioned your design but I admit this is the exciting part of the process. Actually seeing walls is proof you have created a sturdy and safe shell that is transitioning into what will be a well-designed and comfortable home. Well done Eevee and Doug!

I went to my local big box hardware store and extended every single tape measure in stock to see which had the longest "break point" before it bent/folded. The crescent Lufkin won by several feet. Helpful when you are measuring alone, with no one to hold the other end of the tape.

I’m am a nurse who is now trying DIY that requires some carpentry so I’m a beginner. Literally. I find the DeWalt tape measure to be the easiest in understanding all the fractions. Just makes things clearer. I have also learned that I’m doing chalk lines I prefer one that is 3:1 much more than the 6:1. Never before did I know any of this nor did I think I would need to. Would love to hear other beginners tips if u guys have any to share. NOTE: Great find Maverick. That dragon fly had very distinct and beautiful markings.

I keep these in the house & I have a little one that is a cheapie that I carry in my purse. The others are in the shed outside & since it is 1:35 am here in Oklahoma can’t tell what brand they are!! LOL. I know you are wondering what a 76 year old woman needs with all those tape measures, but I use those things a lot!! I also have a few cloth tape measures. Those are handy too. Something to think about - not nailing in the shower wall area of the wall - because if you decide to purchase a complete shower unit you might want the wall to be removed to slip it in more easily. But if your shower is in pieces - then it can more easily come through the door opening.
    Just a thought.

You must be buying that lumber at a local outfit. Lowe's nor HD ever has anything that straight. LOL Great to see the baño and "laundry lounge" getting framed in, that gets the non-kitcheny plumbing all in one place.
I've never seen tapes with markings on the backside, that is wild. I have a 15-20 yr old 25' Craftsman tape, it's got great reach before it "breaks". I like that Lufkin he's got, kinda has a fishing reel look to it, and cool dark mode it's got going on, and the numbers appear to be in DIYfferent font even, so you can't get mad at that. >>;=)

I saw a video where a guy takes an old tape measure with a bad tape pulls it all the way out and ties a string with a pencil on the end. Then he pulls the pencil to make a mark, let’s go and the pencil retract to his belt nave having to put it in his pocket ever again.
I had a Klein tape measure that I carried for years, a friend grabbed my tap and when he retracted it it cut him really deep, stitches deep, I never realized how sharp the edges had become.

Hmmmm, my hubby has a birthday coming up. I think he's getting a Klein tape measure. He's got Stanley brand and they flop and twist. He'd love a wider, heavier model that doesn't do that. Maybe if they're not too pricey, I'll get him two - one for work and one for home. thanks for showing off your collection! I didn't realize that their features could vary so much.

Forget the cake, buy him the tape! Very thoughtful of you, and will certainly give more incentive for all the honey-do projects :) win-win for both of you lol!

Lookin good! Doug that’s so cool that you “collect” tape measures!! I thought I was alone in that!! 😂 I have a tape measure everywhere I may need one. My truck, the kitchen, my workshop has 3, where I do my Etsy shop has 2 😂 Until now, Milwaukee has been the best I’ve used. I have a 25’ and a 35’ and they are my go-to tapes. I now want one of those Lufkin tapes like you showed!! That black tape w neon green is just what I need! Easy to SEE lol. Love y’all!
