i absolutely love that you agree that CARDS DONT NEED TO BE BLACK/SPORTS RELATED TO BE FOR MEN!!! Some men like flowers and pink too!! and any real man would be very pleased to get such lovely cards!!
Haha! Any time I even say 'masculine' cards, I get people reminding me of that! I think it's really about knowing your recipient and what they like, regardless of gender. Thanks for watching!
So cool you used pics of men/clothes for inspiration. It really does add a ton of interest😍gel plates are so cool, thanks for using it, I need to get out mine again, lol Thanks so much for collab-ing once more, it's such a joy to work together with you😘💕
I learned all sorts of techniques from you! I need to get out the gel plate and all my inks! Thank you so much! I make lots of masculine cards for my family!
This video is a keeper for sure. Use of gel plate one ink at a time fabulous, I always inked entirely.. Then the double embossing of little flowers is just gorgeous .love, love that card. Thanks Ardyth!
Stunning plaid and stencil ghost print. All of these cards were absolutely some of the best I’ve ever seen. Non gender cards. Suitable for anyone who appreciates great cards. Fantabulous!!!
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create those stunning cards. And I really really love ❤️ the clever use of the ink blending. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
What lovely cards. Thank you for showing all of your process, including things that did not work as planned. End results are very different in a positive way!
Thank you for this tutorial. It's come at just the right time for me, as I have a fair amount of male relatives with birthdays on the horizon, and always struggle for ideas. None of them fit the sport/booze/cars mould, and I don't always think about abstracts in time. These ideas are perfect!
I started to write a comment and decided to wait until the end of the video, glad I did because I agree with you. I think we over complicate the idea of “masculine’ cards. Most men not only appreciate beautiful flowers but they (especially family members) would most certainly would appreciate some thing you hand made no matter what the subject matter was, even the most frilly of flowers. Every man In my family I would consider “manly” men and not a single one would be offended by a floral card even if it had pink flowers all over the front. But you made some lovely examples for anyone who feels flowers would be over the top for their male recipient.
And it goes the other way too - I have girlfriends who are into golf, cars, cycling (no fishers, though.... lol!) so those 'masculine' themes can work for them. As you say, it's about thinking about the person you're making the card for - that's the most important part. Thanks for your kind words and for watching!
Thanks Ardyth for sharing such great ideas with us. When you were adding the blue to the floral tie piece I noticed that your fingers were getting ink on them while you were holding the cardstock down to add the blue. Take a piece of low tack tape and stick it to your fingertips (This is not my idea I have seen it done and it’s worth sharing). This way you can press down on the wet ink and when done, just peel the tape off and your fingertips will be clean. It will save time and also save the risk of getting it on your card by accident. I hope that helps. I’m sure you can come up with a more permanent tool maybe using a strip of acetate with the tow tack tape attached to one side, then it can be cleaned off and used over and over. Thanks again for the beautiful cards and ideas. You are an inspiration to me and a great teacher. Love and hugs from Australia ❤️❤️🐨❤️❤️
I have seen that idea as well and never really bothered with it, because I don't mind my fingers getting inky. Except, as you point out, when I smudge the card I'm working on! I should give it a try! Thanks for sharing! (I've had Australia on my mind lately as I've been bingeing Offspring on Netflix! lol!)
I was so excited when a new Ardyth video popped up in my feed. And this video did not disappoint. I learned a new technique-- inking with acetate--so cool! I really liked the panel where you layered a stenciled design using the same inks you used on your gel plate. That technique is right in my wheelhouse. I do this all the time with paint, I’m going to have to try it with inks.
Haha! I am still working up to paint on my gel press, so you're way ahead of me there! I do love it as a tool though - so many things you can do with it! Thanks so much for watching!
Love the cards! 🥰Your inking using the acetate is marvelous! It saves me using post its which can get expensive!! The cards were all great and I can’t pick a favorite!! Thank you for always sharing your talent! 🤗
The only issue with using acetate is you really have to hold onto it because it can slip, which post-it notes don't do. But once you get used to it, it works really well! Thanks so much for watching!
Love these cards so much! Your inspiration pictures are a great idea to use when composing colors. I'll need these ideas for some upcoming birthday and holiday cards! Thanks for sharing another great tutorial. 👍💖
Very nicely done, Ardyth! I love that plaid card with the embossing folder. Thanks for sharing! I'm going to save this video for inspiration down the road.
I loved how you used the acetate mask and your Work Station to do the plaid. Great idea. The floral resist with navy background was my fav and reminded me a lot of Japanese chiyogami patterns with that dot of white in the centre. I rarely use the mini stamps in my sets and this would be a perfect way to apply them. Thanks for the inspiration.
I don’t know why we think men don’t like flowers or cute or sparkly things! I hope eventually we stop worrying so much about gender so men can enjoy all the colors and patterns freely :) Your cards are gorgeous and you have so many good ideas here. My wallet always screams when I watch your videos but I appreciate that you use the same things in many different ways so we can get great value out of the supplies we invest in.
I agree! It's definitely easier when we are making cards for people we know well, to reflect their interests and favourite colours and themes, regardless of gender! Thanks so much for watching, Jo!
The dynamic duo strikes again! I love your colorful masculine designs, and have already enjoyed Gerry's ideas as well. Now to stop watching videos and go make something! Thanks :-)
Haha! That made me laugh - I have days like that too. Cheaper to watch videos than online shop, though, which is my other 'hobby'! lol! Thanks for watching!
I like your take on "masculine" cards. I typically aim for gender neutral, and I will use elements most people think of as feminine, but generally only one per card and in combination with more gender neutral elements-bronze embossed lace on navy blue, for example.
8:52 it’s amazing how the white dots are so tiny but add so much to the design! They totally bring the white band on top into the rest of the design!
I agree! I love white space on my cards, and also was surprised how the dots added just enough! Thanks for watching!
Love the use of acetate with taped edges ! Wonderful idea.
Thanks so much! I got that one from Erica - much more economical than using masking paper all the time. Thanks for watching!
i absolutely love that you agree that CARDS DONT NEED TO BE BLACK/SPORTS RELATED TO BE FOR MEN!!! Some men like flowers and pink too!! and any real man would be very pleased to get such lovely cards!!

Wow. I love how you kept your mistake in, and how you fixed it.
Thank you! Gotta keep it real, right? Seriously, there's almost never a mistake that can't be fixed, covered or cut off. Thanks so much for watching!

I love that we managed to come up with different ideas for dealing with this difficult topic!
Taking inspiration from men's clothing is genius 👏
Haha! If they'll wear it, then they'll like it on a card. Who can argue with logic like that, right?! Thanks so much for watching!
I am in a bit of crafty funk right now. This has given me a lot of inspiration. Thank you very much for sharing.
That is a wonderful compliment! I'm glad you feel inspired! Thanks for watching!

Brilliant ideas for making cards.
Thanks so much 😊
Great idea to look to men's fashion for trendy colourways. I sometimes make masculine cards using a generic theme like coffee or wine.
That's a great idea! Thanks for watching!
Genius! Yes, masculine cards are HARD but sticking with geometric shapes and simple design helps.
Totally! Thanks so much for watching!
