A studio apartment in my town, which is about an hour and a half drive outside of downtown New York costs anywhere from $1200 to $1500 dollars a month. And she pays $600? She's lucky.
really depends on where you rent and what your willing to live in. I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment thats surprisingly all inclusive for 725 in a converted basement of someone else's house.
If Korone is living in the city, that's a good price. I am a little curious how big her place is though, I heard Japanese apartments can be quite small. I actually pay somewhat similar rent for a one-bedroom however I am from somewhere a little more rural.
I thought she lived with (at least) her grandmother. Splitting rent would certainly make a place cheaper. Where I live even a studio apartment goes for over $2000/mo.
That used to be true but nowadays they're about the same size as apartments in NYC. And while NY apartments continue to shrink Tokyo apartments are actually trending larger.
80000 Yen is around 800 SGD. Assuming her place has two rooms, one soundproof for gaming and one bedroom. Yeah a place like that would cost 1.5k here. Feels bad man.
Yeah, at least 1.5k. You'll know her unit layout if you watched her older streams. Her unit type would be around 2 to 2.5k/month in HDB central area (around redhill - lavender, up to toa payoh) and maybe 1.7k in areas further out. Or 3k~4k for condos with equivalent area (not just number of rooms, since condo rooms are small in SG).
@@qfeuille3 Considering the amenities that usually come with rented places in Japan, comparing to condos would actually make more sense. so yeah 3-4k lmao SG is so fucked.
If she really doesn't want to pay, she could win a rock-off with the devil. Or she uses those combat yubis And why is everybody so exited about what seems like fairly decent costs for a big city?
Because that's an absolute steal of a deal when compared to rent in the states, which has been rising explosively. A 1-bed, 1-bath apartment in my area costs over twice that much. Apartments in the state capital (Salt Lake), and nearby state capitals run you at least $1,500. This wasn't nearly this bad a few years ago. My parents got a contract for renting a 3,500 sq ft house (big family, so all that space is used lol) a few years back and fixed the rent at ~1,800 per month. Nowadays that's about the price of a two-bedroom apartment in the area. It's absolutely insane. The reason, as far as I'm aware, is that people from big cities are moving out to more rural areas due to increased prevalence of work from home, which, in turn, raises prices there. It's a bad situation all-around, because people in those areas who weren't relatively well-off suddenly find themselves struggling to pay rent, and the best solution is...you guessed it, move elsewhere in the country where rent isn't as expensive, which becomes a vicious cycle. And there just isn't enough housing to go around, so prices stay high. So, people are elated to hear that things aren't this bad everywhere, I would guess. It gives some hope to a bleak situation.
been seeing comments saying that the average income for Japanese people is around 50% of what people in America make, so it would be around $1500 for you and I.
80k yen a month must be in Japan's current housing cost economy and her Holojob and Secondary income (if applicable). $3400 for my mortgage in AX side lol. Not including other bills insurance, water electric gas, car insurance, gas and groceries at inflation prices.
I remember we had this game Kuru Kuru Kururin on the computer when I was a young child. I really loved the aesthetics of it but I wasn't very good at the game.
Heck, 80k Yen sounds like a bargain, depending on square footage and amenities. I was paying close to 126K Yen in local currency for my previous apartment, which was a small studio in a 100+ year-old building with a leaky ceiling.
The trick is to buy a property, then you're going to pay for the loan instead of rent. Instant zero rent. With added benefit that the loan will eventually be paid off.
@@VieKrohtiel I don't know how things are where you live. Where I live you have to jump through some legal hoops and extra costs like transferring the deed for the property, paying some made up taxes so the government is happy etc. but it's a one time thing and nothin too bad. Let a lawyer handle the formalities and you're golden. In hindsight it's something I should have done earlier in life - the longer you pay rent, the longer you lose money for no good reason.
@@durian111 Don't know the situation in Japan, but in my experience there are so many banks these days, it's likely one of them is going to give you a loan unless you are already in debt or have a bad history with paying back loans. If Korone is living in the city, that's a good price. I am a little curious how big her place is though, I heard Japanese apartments can be quite small.
I actually pay somewhat similar rent for a one-bedroom however I am from somewhere a little more rural.
Probably studio apartment size.
For that price, if she found a good realtor she might have a good deal in metropolitan area, some luck really plays a role in getting good places
A lot has to do with how close you are to the station. 10 mins less walking is easily an extra ten thousand or two.
I'm in like a suburb and it's $1,600 for a one bed apartment ☠️
Either way it's not a lot of money for what she earns. Sounds pretty frugal. Good doggo!
The 3 most important things we need I'm life: money, family, and our cute doggo
I thought she lived with (at least) her grandmother. Splitting rent would certainly make a place cheaper. Where I live even a studio apartment goes for over $2000/mo.
Last time I heard her grandmother was in ICU. So maybe she need move to Tokyo live closed with Hospital.
Man I'd love to pay that much for rent.
As far as rent goes that's pretty cheap, until you consider a Japanese apartment is TINY.
That used to be true but nowadays they're about the same size as apartments in NYC. And while NY apartments continue to shrink Tokyo apartments are actually trending larger.
@@brooks6295 I feel bad for NYC then.
"What would you wish for?"
"Eh, immortality without growing old"

That's $1691.20 US in superchats not including taxes.
When your beloved streamer summons the overeager hacker squad by accident....
Or she uses those combat yubis
And why is everybody so exited about what seems like fairly decent costs for a big city?
C'mon Kage, it's time to blow doors DOWN!
Our Doog is radicalized and I'm all for it
Rent is expensive
Jeez... That's a lot less than what I pay for my 1br apartment, and _my_ rent is considered cheap!
rent/housing in general is surprisingly cheap in japan, even in tokyo you can get a decent place for under 1000$/month
The same counts for most of europe.
apartment prices in all countries depends on the average income. lower income means cheaper apartments
Be practical like Korone. Instead of wishing for a friend to play violin again, wish for free rent.
So you're telling me rent in JAPAN costs about as much as in my 3rd world hellhole? Interesting
Even in a small city in Alabama rent is at least 1200 for a single bedroom, like twice what she pays in a major city. Wtf X.x
And somehow Kyubey would still find a way to turn you into a Witch. 😂
damn her rent is so cheap, I wish I could live in Japan. I got a one bedroom in Canada and I am paying twice that almost
been seeing comments saying that the average income for Japanese people is around 50% of what people in America make, so it would be around $1500 for you and I.
mine's $1300 (¥177000 yen) per month in Arlington, VA with 2 roomates and many places nearby are more expensive than that. Rent is crazy.
Korone's magical girl outfit would be her outfit from "Saikyo Tensai Wonderful World"!
1,200.00 usd rent here. One bed room apartment. Dangerous location.
Actually it's pretty cheap 80k Yen if it's in Tokyo, well depends on which area and the condition of apartment she lives in
80k yen a month must be in Japan's current housing cost economy and her Holojob and Secondary income (if applicable). $3400 for my mortgage in AX side lol. Not including other bills insurance, water electric gas, car insurance, gas and groceries at inflation prices.
_Nervous Ontario laughter of $2,500_
thats so cheap. It's $800 here just for a floor in sec 8.
Dam I live in Cali and this would be a heck of a dream Price to pay
I remember we had this game Kuru Kuru Kururin on the computer when I was a young child. I really loved the aesthetics of it but I wasn't very good at the game.
I love her.
Buying property isn't that simple th, complicated stuffs are needed to buy one
Would love to buy one for my self but i really hope it was that simple
Well most banking dont view vtuber or youtuber as a risk free stable job, so i doubt they gonna offer housing loan.
Being able to provide a sizeable lump sum up front yourself is usually a plus too. I suspect Korone can do that - she's been working hard, participating in sponsorship deals etc.
*D.O.G. Tries It™: Bugged PERSEC Mechanics*
Man . . . I'd love to pay that much . . .
Wish for an uncorruptible soul gem.
Not that it's any of our business but I gotta wonder how big her current place is then. Back when I first moved out I lived in a smol one room apartment that cost me about 700 dollars a month. Though I guess that wasn't in a big ass city like Tokyo so there's that lol
My flat with 3 rooms, 1.5 bath and garden is about 760€ a month and that in a rather expensive area lol..
That’s a price for rent and it’s similar to some of the rent around where I live.
600 hundred is a steal since rent where I live is 2k for a single room apartment
I did not realize the US dollar was so strong against the Japanese Yen right now ($1 == 135 Yen). Last time I visited Japan it was more like 1 to 110.
omg you can rent rooms here in my country with complete kitchen only for 50 usd and it looks nice already.
Wow, that's like one-bedroom Upstate New York / Bayside Virginia rent
Ok but this game is adorable and looks really fun.
wow, I didn't think that kuru kuru kururin was popular enough to be on hololive
last 6months 2.5k per day
but now 2.6 to 2.7k per day
I feel like this kind of wish just ends up with you owning a property that you need to pay more of for the mortgage/property taxes.
It's what I pay living way out here in the country. Though I suspect my house is a lot bigger than her apartment.
600? that's a steal!
that is true, went you add up all monthly rent pay in a year, it is a lot
That's why I refuse to live off rent. I either own the place or I don't live there.
That being said, buying your own place is borderline impossible nowadays as well...
That’s about how much my mortgage is.
Only 600 a month, that sounds like Heaven
$600 is expensive for rent!? Man I live in a 1 bedroom apartment that's about to fall down and I'm paying $900.
In Singapore, I rent a 2 bedroom unit for 2,200 sgd (213,000 yen) & similar range for the past 10+ years. I completely know the pain. Rental doesn't add up to your asset like paying lease/mortgage. 🥲
korone has a siren laugh
Dang converting that to my currency and that's crazy incredibly cheap, especially in covid times
Honestly im more concerned about that 12 second record. Like how?!
Skill
600 USD...Dang...And that's expensive for them...
$600 is expensive?! Oh Koone you sweet summer child...
That's a decent price. if she gets more than ~60 m² it's even a better deal than what I pay.
Jeeze, what a steal! Cherish what you have, little puppy girl, I'm almost up to 900 a month.
80,000 sounds like a 1LDK unit , my aunt rents there a 2LDK for roughly around ¥150 a month, maybe she's living in a similar area
I pay 800 for rent and thats my portion that I share with my mom for a two bedroom apartment where the lights in my room don't work. 600 USD for a one bedroom apartment sounds like a dream 😭
Where I live I'd have to pay five times what korone does to live in a shipping crate with a hole in the floor as a toilet
holy shit thats a really good price even for a small studio apartment
“Dog-Pog-Bouta-Get-Called-Poor-Pog”
The sad thing is… ~600 USD is extremely cheap for my area in the US. You can’t find a decent place for under 1000 USD here.
Less than 600 a month I wish that was here in Hawaii
Damn, that's literally half what a 1 room studio apartment costs at a dump apartment in the US. It's a tiny fraction of a studio dump in a city. She has no reason to complain.
$2,300 for my 350sqf studio in San Francisco…
God I wish rent in the US was that low. I could buy a decent condo in Japan with the amount of money I pay yearly in Rent.
"Living in luxury" Depends on where you live. In my city, you can barely get such a cheap rent for a small studio.
I would literally do *anything* for my rent to be that cheap.
