I agree with Chairman Dimon. China has lots of problems, both short and long, that needs to be solved. China is not monolithic (even in imperial days) as people thinks. China is a very diverse and complex country in every respect, even perhaps more so than Europe with their language diversity. This diversity needs diverse advices and inputs from all that are willing. Jamie Dimon, being who he is, sees that and went onto the spot to see what he and his firm can help. An exceptional business strategist and statesman.

Let me add on a bit to my previous comment. Not many people nowadays ( even Chinese meaning those born within the last generation) know or even understand the main stream thinking of China throughout its history, which is 「大同」, and achieving which has been the reigning gauge of rising and falling of dynasties throughout Chinese history. This is how complex to pull and rule China's diverse ethnicities and cultures can be. KMT under Dr. Sun and Chiang couldn't do it. CPC under Mao and Deng had barely achieved it with lots of help from US starting with Nixon. In my opinion, China still has a long way to go to achieve 「大同」. So that's the background and I think Jamie Dimon may have sensed the opportunities going forward. My view.

How much of his investors money does he have tied up in China? Think about that for a second. He can’t just pull out because that would be devastating to his company. He will say whatever CCP tells him to say. I’m sure his PR team ran his speech by the communist leadership!

@@ericshang7744 You do realize that there is Quantitative Tightening happening at this moment and liquidity is evaporating? What I meant to say is that if he tries to unload his Chinese assets he will get cents on the dollar. Dollar for short term is great in this QT, Chinese Yuan can’t be trusted because it’s run by CCP and they don’t have a great track record. Gold is the only other possibility but it’s price will drop as the value of the dollar goes up. Long term gold for sure to keep your purchasing power. China is not looking good, with their aging population, housing collapse, and corruption being rampant throughout the country. Also not to mention their unemployment is way too high at the moment and will only get worse as the western countries diversify away from China to India, Vietnam, South Korea, Philippines, and so on. If the Chinese factory sector take a 50% drop that will be catastrophic for China as a hole, that’s a fact!

Lol, Chinese growth is all fake. Everyone that follows China knows this. China building ghost cities and bridges to nowhere using debt to pump up their GDP isn't helping anyone, especially not the Chinese people. The only thing China contributed is debt. Regardless of anything they do economically, they have been aggressive towards every country on earth. They have border disputes with every country they share a border with. They have maritime disputes with every country in the South China sea. They have promised to start WW3. A lot of countries traded with Germany before they started WW2. They contributed to the world economy right up until the point where they destroyed it.

Mr. Dimon was compelled to partake due to China's lack of capacity in opening and running large tech companies. Wall Street bankers, including JP Morgan, were invited to participate and profited greatly in the initial years. However, Chairman Xi's decision to curtail the tech industry has forced Mr. Dimon to reverse his gains. Now, he is desperate and needs to face them directly to show that even the largest US banker can humble himself if necessary.
