- Germany’s 2014 World Cup Winning Starting XI: Where Are They Now?
In 2014, Germany won the World Cup in Brazil and became the first European nation to win the planet’s most coveted trophy on American soil. And they achieved that by beating one of the greatest national teams from the Americas.
Today, we want to look at that history-making Germany XI and where they are right now.

I would like to mention that Klose is the only player ever who played 4 consecutive World Cups and always made it at least to 3rd place. 2002: 2nd, 2006: 3rd, 2010: 3rd 2014: WC Winner. Thats a crazy record.😲 and btw Özil wasn't the only Premier League player in 2014. André Schürrle played for Chelsea and Lukas Podolski for Arsenal and the Arsenal legend himself: Per Mertesacker, okay they weren't first squad, but Schürrle was crucial for this team, 2 goals vs Brazil and assisted Mario Götzes decisive goal in the finals. Podolski was the locker room clown and Per a vocal leader veteran, they were important guys for team chemistry, anyway thumbs up for the video.

2014 was a year of amazing national teams. It was also the year where we saw these great teams disband due to aging players. Netherlands, Germany and Spain had legendary players and teams that pretty much all disbanded after 2014. 2014 and 2010 were the best World Cups ever
That World Cup was the end of the that generation of players and where a lot of players today in or past their prime were young

Germany in 2014 was a perfectly tuned machine, rare example of good technical of the players paired with very efficient teamwork chemistry. They played so neatly, conceding so few goals due to effective and confident defensive. Damn i miss them

Honestly it was surprising how fast many of the players “fell” off, maybe it’s because players like Messi and Ronaldo were so good after 30 for so long, but I expect most of these guys to play well into their 30s and not retire before 35.
Few players actually fell off. The problem is that the team as a whole fell off, and I honestly think Lahm was the one carrying the team all along. Kimmich is trying to fill the boots but the team isn't playing German Football as we know it. It's sad as a Germany fan it hurts to see the team crumble so much after 2014.

German guy here. Thanks for the great video, brought back some great memories. 😊👍
We take a lot of strength from people all over world coming to Germany and sending their kids to play football. Look how "mixed" our team was! I'm especially proud of that.
Actually, the German team in 2014 was not very mixed. Boeteng was the only non German. I believe Klose was born in Poland but he was an Aussiedler, so German. The mixing of the teams is a disgrace. Belgium and France are not European teams and shouldn't be considered Flemish, French or Dutch since most of the players are not. I've got more Flemish, Dutch and French ancestry (although it would be considered more than 500 year's ago) than most of the players on these teams.

One up for Bayern Munich winning the WC
Only Thomas Müller is a real Bayern player since youth on this squad. 6 other Bayern guys went to Bayern when they were already established. (In fact Hummels came from Bayern youth but they sold him to Dortmund early cause they didn't believe in his talent)
16 other guys were not playing for Bayern:
Kevin Grosskreutz, Borussia Dortmund
Matthias Ginter, Freiburg
Benedikt Höwedes, Schalke
Mats Hummels, Borussia Dortmund
Sami Khedira, Real Madrid
Mesut Özil, Arsenal
André Schürrle, Chelsea
Lukas Podolski, Arsenal
Miroslav Klose, Lazio
Ron-Robert Zieler, Hannover
Julian Draxler, Schalke
Erik Durm, Borussia Dortmund
Per Mertesacker, Arsenal
Shkodran Mustafi, Sampdoria
Roman Weidenfeller, Borussia Dortmund
Christoph Kramer, Borussia Mönchengladbach
Schweinsteiger, Kroos and Lahm were also fully developed by Bayern and came from the youth teams, and every match 6-7 Bayern players were in the starting 11. The nucleus and the best players were from Bayern Munich. So obviously it was mostly Bayern who won this trophy, except Hummels the Dortmund players were completely unimportant.
Great team, and what a great Bayern team. For a very long time Bayern was the backbone of Germany NT. I don't know what happened in the last years and why they changed the strategy, but I find both teams a lot weaker than those 2014 and it seems that Bayern lost it's identity as well.

@@schnitzelfilmmaker1130 no, Germany demographically has collapsed. What few German players are produced are weak, comfortable. 4:30 oh hahaha that was the legendary interview wasn't it?
I hate how much hate our teams after that one got. So much criticism unreasonable expectations and unfair criticism.
Yes this team was a great team, but what gave us the edge over the competition was not just the players skill level, it was the "munich core".
In that world cup, we had the complete engine of the team running on munich fuel.
Neuer, Boateng, Lahm is 3 of 5 from the defensive lineup. They have played tons of games together. Hummels and Boateng also had a long track record of playing in the national team together.
Then we have Schweinsteiger (an exceptional leading player) and toni kroos playing in the center. Both bayern. Both with a heck ton of experience together, and a heck ton of experience with the defenders right behind them.
And in the offense we have muller in the center, also a ton of experience with the midfield players right behind him. And Klose who also played 4 years in munich with a lot of those exact players from munich.
This was the key to success. You have a core of about 7 players who have played tons of games together for years. All of those players also happen to be exceptionally good players. And then you just add the best wingers you got access to and fill 2 more slots.
Not to talk down on the coaches influence, but 100% this would have not happened without the better part of the team already being a working team with a ton of experience.
That makes a huge difference. Other nations also have brilliant players, but usually in national teams they dont perform at their very best, because you get 7 star players from 7 different clubs with little game experience together. We had them from 1 team.
E.g. Schweinsteiger, who was a great player, will obviously be even better in a world cup team if 3 people behind him, the one right next to him, and the one in front of him are all players that he as captain has played A LOT of games with from "everyday bundesliga" up to finale of the championsleague.
Add to that that a lot of the rest played in Dortmund and in other bundesliga teams like goetze, schuerle, kramer etc. Its obviously not the same as playing in the same team, but it does mean that the other players have played against them a lot, have seen them a lot and have analyzed them a lot in game preperations for the bundesliga. Also giving a better feel for how these players act on the pitch. Its not like there is a good german player who always played in a league outside the country that noone of the rest of the team has ever been on the pitch with.
We have to understand that this was the stars lining up for germany and that its gonna be hard to ever get that solid of a team again, even if we can match the individual class of players.
*Not a bayern munich fan btw*
He is not a veteran, he is a legend
Pls do the croatia 2018 squad that lead then to their first final ever
