@@PopalongRC i sure am, but only got a 2wd place so far, 94-98 and only have one car ready to go for it 😂 but will load a few 4wd cars just incase there are any no shows on the day 🤞
I have a 28th scale carpet drifter. I run it at 30% as its in my basement. That motor will cook sending that little car like 15 mph! Its just no fun and not worth the damage! I think dialing in specifics between remote motor esc and battery is the most fun you can have experimenting on an rc. I aleays start on 50% and work my way up. The temp check every couple runs till i can run a whole batt with no issues before i feel comfortable with the setup
Tell you what fellas. Good job you mentioned Kev Talbot, you said his name three times and low and behold, look who is below me. The one and only KT! Don't say his name three times in the mirror! Great to see Popalong and Mr Talbot on the same page here. 2 of my regular and favorite crew.
Great video. I am glad you guys don't give into the hype of overpowering and destroying RC for view ratings. Great channel Great content. Race oriented may be a smaller crowd but we are true subscribers
🤣🤣🤣 great video guys👍👍... I bought a few cheap motor esc combos years ago (skyrc cheetah 8.5t and leopard 17.5t and i still use them 6 years on and they still run fantastically and very fast especially the 17.5t with a 43tooth pinion and 78tooth spur on 3s😁😁, only thing is now there £80 odd I paid £40ish, so the buy cheap buy twice doesn't always apply😁. Speed test it lol👍👍
There is a channel called Mx acres who took on sponsored drivers from associated with a Traxxas bandit. We don’t have FTX over here. Winning certainly can be done with budget buggy’s!!!
Great vid once again. In fact popalong vids are the only ones i look forward to at the moment. I saw you race the ftx at gatwick raceway. I thought it look nice and stable and was impressed with how well it handle. Great job on the buggy and the vid😊
I really love your content, it shows how fun grassroots club racing can be on a budget, and since finding your videos I have renewed my club membership and my first race back will be on the 26th! I'll be racing a 200$ VBC D10 from 2017 against Xray X4's, Awesomatix, Mugen Seiki's, so it will be fun to see how well I can do with the older gear. Have you 2 ever considered doing coverage (doesn't have to be live) for one of the bigger national races? It would be really awesome to see you two doing pit walks, post race interviews, explaining the format, having a chat with the manufacturers and top drivers etc. Take a look at some of the "raywoodrcvideos" and some of the older RC-Racing episodes where they cover worlds events, something like that with the "Popalong RC" spin on it with the banter, and the nice dnb tunes could be really fun, and could teach people a lot about the jump from club to national level racing!
My vantage is also a animal I’ve added the carnage front and back arms to make it wider and I absolutely love it but get slick tyres from new in less than 2 full battery pmsl
I've recently got myself a brushless Vantage, it's brilliant but the stock ESC keeps bogging it down. If I spin out in a corner, sometimes it takes a few seconds for the car to respond to my input and occasionally stutters. How can this be stopped?? A new ESC?? Great Video thanks for putting videos up with the budget friendly in mind!!
Had great racing against the mighty FTX at Popalong GP, the only thing letting it down was tyres....which is the same for anything, my Xray would've struggled just as much without appropriate race rubber. 4wd on carpet is a whole different thing to grass track and the plastic chassis would allow too much flex, resulting in too much grip and traction rolls on every corner.
I have an original brushed vantage and a 2.0. Love 'em both. I am going to be upgrading my original Vantage to brushless sometime soon. I also have a FTX Tracer brushless and the new FTX Apache. Am I a FTX fanboy or do I just refuse to spend oodles of money on more expensive RC cars? Hmmmmm. 🤔
3.5??? most mod buggies run 8.5 - 6.5 max..... 3.5 is mostly for drag and speed runs I thought? I would think a nice 10.5 or 8.5 would be way more than you'd need for those buggies.
There’s only 1 point in rc…fun!! If you have a smile on your face you’re doing it right!!
Absolutely Kev👍
Exactly.
Cheers🍻
I want to see the ftx on carpet 😁 the gauntlet had been thrown down 👍
Sounds like a plan!! Are you at revival in September?

Hemel and carpet!! Id love to see both!
Watch this space
@@PopalongRC will do!
I love everything you guys put out. But the vantage bits are by far my favorites. Please race it on carpet! 😊
Great, there’s definitely more coming👍

Totally agree, always start lose and work upwards👍
Personally I'd love to see the FTX Vantage on a carpet track, it would defo be interesting! Awesome video, loving the content!!
Maybe it’s worth a try barry👍
I would love to see that car upgraded. Please do more videos. Love all your vids. Rewatching a lot of them while I’m in hospital
Hope you’re ok buddy, glad the vids are keeping you entertained👍 get well soon👍
Dislocated my shoulder awhile ago and having it all fixed up today. Nothing life-threatening. Thanks for the text.
ROTFL and that's how it all started. Superb!
Another great intro !!😂 this channel is way UNDERRATED!! You guys deserve many more subscribers!!!!!!
Many thanks for the kind words Jeremy👍👍
Hope I am there when you come to visit us at Hemel, bring the RB10, it runs well there 😁
We plan on getting down sometime Marco, hope you are well👍

Thanks for watching and those kind comments, we just wanna grow our great hobby💪💪
Fun vid as always. I'm sure you remember, but Hobbywing started out as cheap and cheerful esc combos.
Very true!
They still have cheap ones.
I would bet a front wing would help on that big track to give you more steering at high speed.
Now you might have a point there!! I look about fitting one, thanks for commenting👍
Love watching your vids keep up the good work learnt loads from watching you about rc cars as i am still new to the hobby
Nice one, thanks for commenting Jason, glad we are helping👍
RW has all the gearing you need for a tt02. All you need is the high speed gear set, 64dp gearing, and a YR motor mount.
Good to know
🤣🤣🤣 great video guys👍👍...

Yeah there are some great motors and esc combos from a few years back that are great
Nice, good initiative and inspiration!
will be interesting ,sounds like a good winter astro car
Maybe
Great video been following along with this one from the upgrade video looks a proper fun little car to drive
Cheers David
With my style the bandit I'm building, I use Schumacher carpet tires on dirt n have amazing grip
Sounds good
I’m going to try mine at silverstone tomorrow. I’ve arranged to have a visit
Nice, let us know how you get on, we will be poping along there soon👍

Like the idea of that
Haven't seen the RB10 in a while.
You know what, you can send it to me. I'll give it a great home on a classic dirt track where it belongs :)
Next "youtuber race" should be fast crawlers on a budget. Thatd be great to see
That’s different

Wow

Yes, a good sensored combo should sort out that issue👍
I love watching your vids - getting back into RC and your content is really helpful. What's with the transparent wings tho? I'd have to paint them :)
No real reason to be honest, I just tend to save the paint for the bodyshell 👍
Pretty cool!
Thanks

Tyres are a big equalizer

Vantage Zorro bl Dr8 and Apache
"Don't mention Kevin Talbot! I think I mentioned him once, but got away with it..."
kev Who?I went back to Gatwick raceway yesterday with the Radix 6.Great day of racing again.✌️
Awesome
Glad more people are getting down there
Why not get a good set of tyres for the vantage???😮😊
We have now ….
Not everyone can afford top shelf cars so the ftx is a good compromise for club level racing
Yes definitely, with a few mods here and there it is a great racer, we’ve proved it👍
It’s fun putting fsst. Motors in cheap cars 😅
What is cheap in USD for that? Meaning the exceed combo.
No idea mate
Maybe mention Kevin talbot here may help? Haha
I’m not sure mentioning Kevin Talbot makes a difference
@PopalongRC yes but what would Kevin talbot think about it?
3.5??? most mod buggies run 8.5 - 6.5 max..... 3.5 is mostly for drag and speed runs I thought? I would think a nice 10.5 or 8.5 would be way more than you'd need for those buggies.
You are right, a bit of an overkill for this model but does work quite well 👍
4.5t is a nice mod buggy size.
A buggy race with no jumps booo
I have never raced off road, if you chaps do another day a bit closer to Oxford, I think I might just get the same car and give it a go.
Not a bad car with a few upgrades Oxford isn’t too far👍
😂😂😂 brilliant! I do think you should run it at DMS can’t be any worse than Carls Losi! 🫣😂
True😂
