@ijokerdu4902 Let me know if it's not and I can try to make something new. Haven't used Roll20 in several years but should be able to do some troubleshooting.
Hi there. I just tried to create your smite macro. I copied and pasted in the correct damage area, took off strength and made it radiant. Unchecked the attack box and named it divine smite. When I execute the macro, when it asks me the level, there are semi colons before each number. As long as I do not select the yes option under undead/fiend, the macro works. If I select yes for undead/fiend... It will say I rolled ie: 8d8 ; ; = 8, but it doesn't have the rolling symbol when you hover over the resulting number. I have spent hours trying to fix it, what am I missing. I'm literally just copying and pasting.
Good morning. Sorry to heat you're having trouble. The macro should be good and functioning but I can double check in a bit to verify. The first step Id do is to copy paste the text in again but I assume you've probably tried that. You could also try just starting a new attack any putting the text into it, then if it works go back and address the damage type etc. Let me know if you try those and ill try to figure out what else might be wrong
@@OneCritWonder I'm having the same issue, also something to note is in the chat box there is a breakpoint during the selection of spell slot level and while confirming if its undead/fiend. Example for how it appears: spell slot level ; One ; Two ; Three ; Four. Perhaps there is a breakpoint somewhere unneeded?
@@racerbx2 Just tested it and the macro works. Its something to do with how RUclips is displaying/formating the text. I just re-edited it in, try that or jump on my discord really quick.
Hi, the macro doesn't seem to work anymore when targeting fiends/undead. Like it does the number, but doesn't actually make the roll, is there an updated version?
@chfern5620 Been a few years so Roll20 may have updated some stuff on their end. I can give a look and see what needs modifying but at work at the moment.
I had one in the traits & abilities that i declared before posting & it rolled [[2d8]] & the upcasts [[3d8]]etc into chat, and i was about to make a pink push button menu in a chat template but this one works great - didnt realize i could put macros in weapon attack damage box, did know i could in the description though, did u guys know you can put macros (links) in handouts & even in your character sheet bio
Hey, so I've got a question about the creature bonus part of the macro Our DM has a thing that let's us choose what we're Super Effective against to give more options for what a Paladin stands against (Such as Monstrosities and Abberations), to change the Fiend and Undead Text, I assume you would change the Fiend and Undead parts of the macro to whatever, right?
You would simply change the text in the "Fiend or Undead" prompts to whatever your favored enemy was. Remember that there are multiple iterations of the question.
So I am trying to get this macro into a template on a weapon attack so that I can click it when that attack roll is made. Any idea how I would go about that?
A Divine Smite macro could be placed in the DAMAGE 2 field of the weapon to trigger any time an attack is made with the weapon. Keep in mind that this would roll the macro every time you attack with that weapon whether you choose to Smite or not (unless you make a new nested query at the front) and that if you ever use a different weapon there would be no Smite roll
@@OneCritWonder I was looking at trying to add the macro to the attributes & abilities page and then reference it with a template via the weapon attack descriptions, but it appears to be breaking.
@@OneCritWonder Admittedly it is an aesthetics choice. I just thought it would be neat to figure out how to have divine smite and booming blade macro links in the weapon attack description. That way when ever I attack with the weapon and it shows up in chat I can run the macros from the attack in chat.
Thanks a lot for making this though Instead of adding this to the attacks I instead added this macro to the global damage modifier and it worked out the same.
So you get the damage and critical hit as the first and then still count critical for the divine smite? We have not played it that way as we deal the damage from the weapon and then before the damage is rolled the paladin declares what spell slot for the divine smite and add that to total as additional radiant damage. Is counting both like having two bites?
I think I need some clarification on what you're saying. The Smite Macro works independently of the attack and damage rolls tied to the weapon itself so if you're playing where the Paladin rolls attack but must declare smite before seeing their damage roll, you just disable rolling attack and damage at the same time on their character sheet. You can: 1. Roll Attack only 2. Declare Smite 3a. Roll Damage then Smite OR 3b. Roll Smite then Damage If you have the sheet set to roll both Attack and Damage at the same time you just 1. Roll Attack + Damage 2. Declare Smite 3. Roll smite If you clarify what you're asking I'll do my best to explain better.
