Yeh! Some people like formula. I personally don't, but I understand why some people would enjoy it. Keeps things just predictable and comfortable enough
I feel like you don't give Big Brother enough credit. Both shows blew up at the same time, both shows are reality shows. These shows together changed the face of TV. Also, as an American there is something you can't really appreciate. Big Brother had a lot of local productions in different countries. Big Brother Australia was a force of nature. It was everywhere you turned. There were radio stations providing updates. The show was on daily! They had weekly live events with large audiences when the people were voted off the show. I know Big Brother UK was massive, and so were a bunch of other local versions
Sorry that's a mistake. It was supposed to be for the decade, not for the year. Thanks for calling it out, I'll add a comment. Friends finale aired 2004 whereas Survivor aired 2000.
I went to school with one of the boom mic operaters on season 1 & 2. His dad was one of the producers. He shared with how fake it was. They ate at the same table with the crew and sometimes slept at the same hotel. Basically it was 100% fake.
@CitizenZero1 I don't know, probably went on a diet for realism, maybe makeup, maybe a bit of realism. Apparently, they were all well paid regardless of the game. But I can only say what I was told for seasons 1 and 2, he had photos so i dont doubt him.
I’m a fan of Survivor. It’s numbers have been going down since the beginning but it’s numbers were always big. But from the last best season (40) until now, they are low. They tried going woke, but that didn’t really help their ratings. In fact, there are many longtime fans who just won’t watch it now. Survivor was always diverse, but now it’s just diverse for diversity’s sake and the game has suffered. I’m not sure it can be rescued unless it goes back to how it was played in the earlier seasons (like 18, 28, 32).
As someone who loves Survivor I just want to say, I love Survivor
Survivor was interesting for a couple seasons in the early 2000s when it felt chaotic but for dozens of seasons it's so formulaic and bland

7:05 you said big brother started in 2000, but actually the original one from the Netherlands started in 1999
Wait I’m confused…. Are you saying that the Friends finale and the survivor season 1 finale aired during the same year? Cuz I don’t think they did

No way! What about all the insect bites and lost weight?

You’re a liar
A more appropriate title would be: The Show That Ruined TV.
Not Survivors fault. Survivor is good, I don't care about other trash.
@@waverlyking6045 Social media did that. Not reality shows, lol.

Personally I didn't watch after season 40, cuz I heard it's pure trash.
I prefer Australian Survivor now, longer episodes are so much better.
I have never seen an episode of Survivor. It has always just seemed like TV for the lowest common denominator.
How would you know if it's for the lowest common denominator if you've never watched an episode? Try being more open minded.
@@FunkyJeff22 because of the dumb people who watched it! 😂 Do I need to go to a Nascar race to know it is for morons? Absolutely not.
That's literally all reality TV.
@@purplegrapiest indeed it is.
Same
Personally never liked these type of shows or watched didn't even knew this existed , reality tv is trash to keep poeple dumb in my opinion !!!
Survivor is literally the only good reality show.
