It's a wonderful documentary coverage of 17th-century scientist's who loved nature..truthful & he studied nature phenomena simply, scientific out look & accurate evaluating ...thanks for sharing .Get.factual channel always sharing informative, enjoyable documentaries
An excellent documentary which was spoiled by the incessant, unnecessary music. The drama of the story did not need it and, in part, it drowned out the dialogue.
@@zohlandt The battle ship that wasn't named the "Von Bismarck" but just named "Bismarck".... I agree that when speaking of a name, at least the name should be pronounced correctly. But unfortunately humans like to keep things easy and short (when it suits them.)
If it comes to Von Humboldt and Bonpland - it is often said nowadays that Their relations were of homosexual nature. And that is not correct. There is not hard proof to support this view. It is very probable that the bond between Von Humboldt and Bonpland was of HOMOSOCIAL nature - like it was many times at those times between educated men belonging to High Society. Here is more about HOMOSOCIALITY: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosociality
Spot on. The documentary was more driven to disavow than to inform. It seems to me that they did a lot of supposition. There is such a political agenda in science and they projected these modern biases into this documentary. It really becomes annoying after a while and adds nothing to the documentary but their politics.

What annoys me: the man's name was VON Humboldt. Not just Humboldt.
We also call Ludwig van Beethoven just Beethoven. We just like to keep things short.

He was and is right about the human race - we are destructive.
12 minutes in - not as if people were animals, but as if all sentient beings were objects.
