I did my military service in 1989. We started learning radios and crypto in August and before we learned everything we were quickly replaced by people who knew what they were doing. What we did was run with paper back and forth. Really exciting to see those who knew what they were doing doing their job.
It's funny, Signalis brought me here but not really, I was aware (and fascinated by) number stations for a long time. It's one of those mysteries we will never solve, unless we enter service in some intelligence agency and become spies or something, but just imagining where this transmissions came from is more than enough. Who recieve those numbers? Where are they? Where they're emitting from? Who maintains those stations? Are they, like, isolated in a dingy bunker for weeks or months? So many questions, so few answers, and so many numbers and ear piercing tones!
Once I set up the radio to some AM station playing oldies my grandpa could enjoy. When I checked in on him some time later, I found him burning documents 😮
Interesting! Love Shortwave a lot because of these stations Even today there are a lot of these stations running like the Japanese slot machines, the Cuban Numbers, Russia's worldwide famous UVB76 and lots more
Unfortunately you cannot, all number stations, including the clips used in Signalis, use a one time pad system, where the cipher key used to encode the message is truly random and is regenerated for every new transmission, thus making it unbreakable/undecipheriable. Signalis uses them for atmospheric effect moreso than hiding any real messages as they are just clips from stations like G03 or this one
Minor correction, the intro of the game uses the G04 station recording. This precise recording to be even more exact ruclips.net/video/vq8Ny62379E/видео.html
ops im sorry that not real record that record of G22, but I forgot to write it there edit: but I looked closer and found that the G22 and G23 were allegedly sister stations, so they might sound very similar
My favorite numbers station are at: 0:52 1:48 3:28 4:05 4:31 9:51 10:41. At slavic numbers stations My favorite is Aïda. At English, My favorite are Cherry ripe and Ready ready! I recommend you those video. Thank you.
Platt is only up in the Northern Parts of Germany, north of Hamburg and on the East Frisian coast to the Netherlands. It does not exist south of these areas. And BTW, it sounds nothing like Platt... greetings from Husum in North Friesland... where we speak Platt.
G01 wasn’t a German station it was operated by the French secret service during WW2 and Cold War, which plays German songs of Franzl Land, a bavarian composer
Oh lol, was just watching the Fringe episode about number stations, was curious about them and this is literaly the sound clip they played in the show.

@@onshortwave8901 ooh okay, thanks
It was on my website for 20 years.
@@lopanreturns7085 I think E08 was found to be the same as another station in the E6/E7 family and subsequently deleted.
@@simonmason8582 Thank you for your reply! Apologies for the cringy comment. Is there any way I can view your website?

G19 voice definitely sounds like spruch G20 but without the thick french accent
The "Three Note Oddity" sounds like the AT&T "We're sorry, your call can not be completed as dialed" tones
My favorite are: 0:52 1:48 3:29 4:05 4:31 6:55 12:08 and 9:49. Thank you
everybody who has ever telephoned the Microsoft activation number knows this, too.
I wonder if the signals come to help?
Really good ASMR.
0:53 Swedish Rhapsody?
The G20 dude has a typical Hungarian accent
The accent in G20 sounds rather Slavic than French
Signalis
most of the odd german sounding once sound like Plattdeutsch pronounciations. mostly likely native germans or dutch people.
