    I just had a penny-drop moment watching this excellent little guide: if you don't have anything growing in the raised bed, the (still active) biome is working for nothing..!!

    Check out Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy. She makes her own soil, spends very little. Also makes her own compost tea in the process. No synthetic fertilizers, which will destroy the goodness you have created. Shes very interesting.

    Speaking from 1st hand experience a wooden raised wicking bed garden is the bee's knees for home gardening. Would now never raise vegetables any other way
