Another great video, I really need to be completely fluent in Spanish in order to communicate with potential landlords. Compared to NYC rental prices ($2500/month for 1 Bedroom) Colombia is a great option to move to. Also having a apartment with a laundry machine is a big plus, I did not see any public laundromats in Medellin. Keep up the great work with the videos. I will be back in Medellin this summer.
Nice video. These prices for 450 dollars $550 they are way too expensive. 250 to 300 that's what it should be. The thing is they want to take advantage of the Gringos. Because no Colombian would be paying those prices. Where you're at it's a good area but if you continue looking you can get a place from much better price then that will have all that you trying to get.

You probably moved but did u ever consider staying where u are and buying a big fridge, plus skilled and kitchen table? If u have enough room.
Would save u a lot and u would have a small kitchen area. It’s a big jump in cost just for the extra kitchen area with fridge.
Currently in Medellin and in the process of this as well - just like you, we're not looking for anything too fancy. Just comfortable. We've been looking for new areas - how do you go about finding people renting who aren't realtor agencies? I feel like those agencies make the process even harder!
Congrats Sly. I liked Apartment #2, but the only thing is that it seemed noisy with the street. But liked you mentioned, you should never mentioned what is your budget but just go in and let them tell you what is the price. However, it is still cheap and it is not Air BnB. Wow, you have been there for 8 months? Question, how are you doing prolonging your stay there? I thought you can only stay maximum of 6 months. Well anyway, good life and I envy you. Yeah bruh you should that info in another video. Based on what we know about visas, it’s kind of hard to determine which category you fall under based on what we’ve seen in your videos. We are learning everything through your videos. Please share.

500 usd for a studio is not cheap for colombia if average monthly salary is about 300 usd.
I think it should be more than 300 a month.
That’s true but what I think happens is a lot of expats jack up the price. So you gotta at least negotiate
that's not the average studio price that was really high for the value.
Do you realize, that if you buy your place for about 80 000 USD with even 10% interest(currently it is only about 1.8% with good credit), you will pay around 500USD/month. Doesn't make sense to rent for that kind of money, unless you are staying for just few months.

A couple of questions; are there any laundry services? Do the apartments come with set ups for washer and dryers or are there laundry rooms in the complex? Are there condos or townhouses available?

Tip: let a local get the apt for you. No need to pay Gringo prices. Trust me, when they ask you where you're from is not for lack of interest but to size you up for money purposes.
Yea but don’t they know unless your Spanish is native level. Personally, I can mess around and say I’m from Caribbean or something but some ppl just stuck out Gringo from North America or Europe if you know what I mean

Congrats Sly on finding your apt. He's right. I just found my apt through FB groups I belong to in Medellin. Its very similar to Sly's #2 apt except no pool or jacuzzi. But there is a bakery downstairs. Luckily I didn't need to pay months in advance. Just pay as you go for $550 per month. Great advice Sly? Hey which barrio? Laureles? Poblado or what?
I do have a washing machine, so If you need to wash clothes for free, you are welcome to it.

Yah you can get similar looking apartments for much cheaper...those prices might be influenced by location however.

@@slyslife yea for Medellin, $450 is a good price. Its the best city in Colombia and you are staying in the best area. Only reason i asked is that 4000,000 COP is sometimes an Airbnb monthly for El Poblado and they round those numbers when they write it

450 for that little studio in LA floresta? I'm sorry but that's gringo prices or just a rip off. PS. Not having a doorman isn't necesarily a pro dude. If you butter them up and get them on your side they will have your back. At the end of the day, it's a major city in a slightly dangerous country, I don't care how street smart you might be. There are a lot of cases of dudes getting drugged and having their entire apartment cleaned out, a doorman will prevent that.
For 450 you can get a 2 bedroom and a washer!

Sly bro, you have to take into consideration, will the apartment make your female companion feel comfortable. I know you want something simple, but honestly, I wouldn't go with any of those. You should get one of your female friends to go with you, get their opinion. Again, it's a competition for the Paisas, and you're competing with someone elses home turf (the male Colombian).Once the girls know you're American, they're immediately thinking you have more money then the local men. All women like money, and if they say they don't they're lying. If your budget is $450-$500 a month, find someone who has a really nice 2-3 bedroom apartment. The same thing you would do if you lived in a high cost place New York Silicon Valley etc... With a nice apartment, even with a roommate, you'll seal the deal 90% of the time when you bring a women over. You don't need a car over there, but a nice place will greatly increase your chances of landing a 9 and above as girlfriend.

Remember these girls here that same line you're beautiful, probably 100 times a day. Use what you have as an advantage. You're 6ft you're from America. When you go up to the girl start with English. Let them know that you're from the states and you're Spanish isn't that good. Then ask them if they'd be willing to show you around places were The normal tourist doesn't go. 3 things will happen, first you'll get a sense of what that girl likes food etc. Second, you'll build a repor with her and she'll feel comfortable with you. Make sure you offer to pay for everything. This is actually a test to see if she will step in and offer to pay. If she doesn't, it doesn't necessarily mean she's a gold digger. She may not have much money. Now if she's taking you to all these high end places, bail out as soon as possible. 😂 She's after money. Having seen your videos and how friendly the girls are, 90% of the ones you ask to show you around will say yes.. Do not ever compliment them, until they are your girlfriend. Use this proven meathod and you'll have a different tour guide for each day of the week 😉👍
