    If its clamping plastic or rubber parts dont use a bbq lighter especially if its part of an air intake, in alot of cars they're pretty thin plastic

    My Chevy trucks from like 2003 to 2018 have coolant clamps with like a locking mechanism if your able to max it out in the correct direction. Easier said than done. Plus your in a spot like that and it feels like a mouse trap time bomb about to take a chunk of flesh from your hand when bumped and released

    This is a good ass tip. Everyone talking about using some special pliers, etc is sour grapes or inexperienced. Anyone who has done enough of this sort or thing know what a fuckin pain in the ass it is to simultaneously compress that clamp, have the clamp properly oriented to get the hose and clamping tool down the hole, then hold all that shit together while you wiggle/rotate the hose to get it seated. I'd pay a dollar to not have the hassle every time I encounter this, a 5 cent zip tie can get fucked.

    • @pauldean8638
      @pauldean8638 Месяц назад

      Yeah clamp down the two tabs with about 5Lb jaw pressure with vice grips , drop it down and look at the angle you need . Pull it out and release the lock slightly and move clamp to the angle and lock it up . Drop down and place over hose then mount , press to open the lock and job done . If people struggle with movement of the clamp in vice grips then your not using enough jaw pressure to stop it moving about . Once you clamp the two tabs together it should be hard to move , I really don’t understand how people can get something so friggin easy so wrong . If you haven’t got the intelligence to operate vice grips then you shouldn’t be tinkering with motors

    • @blaphtome9382
      @blaphtome9382 Месяц назад +2

      @@pauldean8638 bullshit, vice grips don't even have that much travel before locking, so if you want to do that now you gotta get another set of pliers or use some other method to partially compress so you can then get the vice grips tight on the tabs and you still have the hassle of putting another item down a tight spot and have both hands tied up when you could have just used the zip tie. I rebuilt my first engine in the mid 90's, it's not a matter of not being able to do it your way, it's a matter of not being too old and stubborn to recognize and take on an obviously better method.
