      Thx man. Driver spin rate all based on golf ball model choice, speed, loft & club delivery.... & shaft choice to a point as that can impact dynamic loft at impact. So in answer to your point there isn't a specific MPH # it's more to do with how you deliver the club & I think that's evident from the tour as we often see a mix between the two models year on year..... Good question PLYR

    Really great content and incredible to see the talents these pros have. May I suggest that the majority of your audience are not pros or single figure amateurs. So it would be great to see you work with a few “normal” golfers. Then your audience can relate better. In addition, a typical problem for most amateurs with irons is their hig dynamic lofts. With a 31 deg 7 iron they are often hitting the ball with that loft. The top pros and amateurs are hitting with way less lift and therefore compressing the ball much better. I am sure you can illustrate this and give advice on lowering there dynamic loft and therefore increasing ball speed, length and improved trajectory.

    Great video trottie! I was wondering how much you can trust the normalised numbers on the trackman? I went to a club fit for the p770 7i and it was telling me ball speed 130, carry around 185-190y with around 6-6.5k spin and I'm only sceptical because I've never hit that distance with a 33 degree lofted 7i before in my life!

    is a question. How about a chart showing a range of spin numbers for each club that would be considered average in categories segregated by handicap? Same thing with launch angles.
    The concept being a person buys a golf monitor and it tells him the 10 things but with out a desired range or value they dont know if they need more or less. Attack angle will be less on long irons than shorter but by how much etc?

Yesterday I hit a 7 iron with ball speed 85mph approx,20deg launch, with only 3500spin 179 carry approx. Slight draw shape. I am curious about the spin,you mentioned take the number on the club and add 500,so I should be looking around 7500 but am closer to half,what’s the effect?. My Smash factor falls between 1.38-1.41. Is there a figure that I should be aiming for? I currently have 3 to 6 degrees club path, should I be trying to get it closer to 0? I hit most of my shots with a draw as I have face to path angles from -1 to -3.
    Any help.woyld be much appreciated as I have just started using launch monitors.

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  Год назад +1

      Those numbers are okay providing your playing consistently and matching the face, therefore hitting that baby draw. Needless to say the cut becomes tough from there, almost impossible unless it's a push cut.
      I'd say with irons try and work a touch more left, this will then add spin and create more compression. Long term a more neutral path will give you more shot shape options and bring consistency to your game.

    If you're a recreational golfer tending to play up in the hills on your home course where the wind often swirls 30mph ish, what would be the target spin rate for each iron? For eg, your rule of thumbs suggest a 6 iron would normally by in the region of 6x1000 + 500 = 6500 ish. In general I hit the ball further than most recreational golfers with driver (170mph ball speed) and 3 wood (165 ish mph ball speed). However with irons I'm Mr Average for distance and visually it's all height and spin, which of course only gets worse when it's windy. Should I still target a 6500 rpm spin with a 6 iron fitting? Should I aim for 5000rpm due to my home course being wind a lot of the time? Any advice would be more than welcome thanks...

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  Год назад +1

      Firstly great speed numbers, keep at that and it's great to hear you list your spin rates numbers too.
      With that speed you should be able to live in the 6500 area (assuming 6 iron) but given your location of home course I would look to try and get this to be stock at 6000.
      With the speeds you list 5000 will just create rockets that will not hold greens.
      As you improve (I don't know your hcp level) but you should be able to knock spin off any shot with more ease than add spin.
      Again a tricky one as I don't know your level but the PX Low Spin shaft is a solid option to investigate with a nice players head like the MC or the MB.
      Good luck and keep at it

    When you bring up horizontal swing plane. As a fitter, Very often we get the golfers who are extremely steep, 68-74° swing plane. Attack angle of -4 to -8. With a path that is -6 to -16. Without getting into crazy lessons- how do you alter the clubs to get the best strike in terms of: 1. center ness of contact
    2. Efficient contact (solid strike) not thin/fat

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  3 года назад

      1) with a good efficient plyr I'd look at lie angle
      2) I'd look at swing weight & then the lesson route.... I would often provide a lesson in a fitting if I felt like the situation needed it. Not saying I'd to it on tour but amateurs who need help there opposed to new sticks I'd offer it up & then work the clubs in

    Do you weigh the mass of each golf ball? How do you get rpm down from 4500 rpm to 2000 rpm? Ball speed is 172-192mph. Which part of the ball should I hit? Can you make a low torque shaft for me?

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  3 года назад

      no I don't measure mass of ball, I just TM have done all that.

      Tee it high and hit it high in the blade to lower spin too

    Just curious when building and fitting irons how often do you guys check the frequency of the set or sst pure a set of irons shaft? Just about every if not every x100, modus, px, player I see plays logo down on tour so I’m guessing rarely if ever? Sorry for the out of context question

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  3 года назад +1

      Yea for us it's rarely BUT that's not to say there isn't a cult group of players who swear by puring. Personally I'm not sold on it but on the same note I'm from the school that adjusting the loft sleeve and moving the spine can have a massive impact on ball flight because it's impacting LOFT which directly hits the ball. Conclusion is if you want to test out puring then I don't see why you wouldn't? If you have the itch then you're gonna have to satisfy it :0)

      I don’t see any downside obviously either.
      I will say the pured set which was also frequency matched has the same “feel” throughout the set. I’m not sure if that’s a puring thing or more In line with the frequency. I’d have to fully agree on loft sleeve as well. To many other things are changing to give a direct reflection back to the stiff side of the shaft. I have played the logo at the target for awhile and recently had the head re installed under the same settings with the logo down and I’m not seeing any difference either.
