I have always been intrigued with the character Robby and his storyline. Not a lot of people see the beauty of this complex character. This video captures the perfection of what I have been saying all along. Robby is not this evil hard-headed punk that tried to hurt Miguel or doesn't love his father. It's just that life hasn't showed him otherwise and people took advantage of his fears. This video is the best I've seen that explains who Robby and Johnny are and how they got to where they are now. Perfect example of "when history repeats itself, no one wins." Love it.

I'm pretty new to the fandom in a way, as I started Cobra Kai at the beginning of this year, although I was a longtime fan of the original Karate Kid movies, and so I'm not really aware of what others think of the individual characters. I completely agree with you though that Robby isn't a bad kid at all and really it's been the unfair circumstances he's been brought up in that determined a lot of the poor influences he's had in his life, which in some cases led him to making some bad decisions. I think he does love Johnny, but he's just wary of allowing him back into his life every time he tries to change since he's already failed him so many times before. Wow! Thank you! That means a lot to me as I really tried my best to capture not only their strained relationship but also who they are individually and how their paths end up being so similar to one another. I think he lets the way he knows he has let him down from day one get in the way of him trying to be a better dad for him. I think that's why he puts so much effort into his bond with Miguel, since he thinks Miguel is his second chance with Robby that he hasn't screwed up yet, which is why Robby comes to resent his dad more so than he already does. Sorry for the late reply, but thank you so so much! It means a lot to me that you like the scenes I went with. I spent about a month working on this on and off nitpicking each one and I even rewatched the show as this was my first time vidding them and I really wanted to find all the right moments to do them justice, so thank you so much for liking how it turned out, more than I can say. You're right. It's amazing how interconnected they both are, which is one of the ways I'm amazed with the writing of the show. I love how the past tends to repeat itself but in unexpected ways and with a bit of a twist too. Robby was so determined not to be like Johnny and yet it was that determination that caused him to end up in Cobra Kai. I also think it's really interesting how they both play and fail as a mentor role in season four with how Robby tries to take Kenny under his wing just like Johnny did with Miguel and how the season ends with them both failing their mentees but for different reasons. And I wonder now that it seems that they have finally reconciled for now, what will happen with their relationship in the next season. Thanks again for watching! 💕

"Robby was so determined not to be like Johnny and yet it was that determination that caused him to end up in Cobra Kai." I couldn't have put it better myself. They are not completely the same, obviously no one is, but they truly do have such similarities that they sprinkle throughout the show that when you go back and watch it's like "oh my god how did I not make that connection before" The writing is so good in that regard. I think that's why I see so many people making these deep analysis about the characters because there's just so many connections to make and things to talk about. I love the route they took with Robby to make him see how dangerous Cobra Kai is and what it does to your mentality. Having it be Kenny for Robby like it was Miguel for Johnny was just perfect. Season 5 will definitely be interesting to see their dynamic. Can't wait! and ofc no problem thank you for making it! I don't see a lot of videos for them so this was a treat

Okay..this is just BRILLIANT!! I love their dynamic. It's so complicated, messy but you just know they care and love each other so much. I can't wait to see what they do with them in s5! Imagine a scene where Johnny gives Robby his head band 🥺😭 I am manifesting that.. hopefully they get stronger and more happier the next season. There was never no relationship between them. I knew that when we saw that Johnny kept the pictures his son drew. It shows an early bond. I think he let the bad relationship with Shannon color how he approached the situation. No, having drunken sex doesn’t mean you like them sober. The relationship was probably toxic from the beginning. If the child isn’t a straight-up pawn in the conflict, the child feels obligated to take a side - usually the Mom’s side. Actually, her saying that Robby shouldn’t let the acrimony between her and Johnny color his perception of his dad was good because it gave Robby her blessing to make up with his dad. He may have wanted to make up with his Dad deep down, but wanted his Mom’s blessing.
