I saw Laurie Anderson live and it was such a great show audibly as well as visually. That Tom Waits is horrible. That Vangelis is such a hodge podge of photos on the cover. I kind of like the Deep Ear cover though it is disturbing. The King Crimson debut is one of the best covers but the one you showed is also a very good cover. The Fleetwood Mac cover that freaks me out is the one with the skinny Mick Fleetwood on the cover. Well done. I enjoyed this video.
@@vinylrichie007 I never saw Laurie Anderson live but would love to. The live album is good but it loses a lot without the visuals. I have found that I stare at that Deep Ear cover a lot just to try to figure it out. As for King Crimson, I wanted to show one that doesn't get seen very often. A lot of their covers are great.
Hi Mike. I also like Trio's album cover(s). The White Stripes clearly drew inspiration from Kraftwerk's art design. I've never seen a loss leader look so good. (Pink) The A Perfect Circle's album is great, inside and out.
I absolutely love that A Perfect Circle album. I think their covers are all top notch and they make them all their own. That Trio album has been on my want list for quite a while. That copy was in perfect near mint condition and, as far as I can tell, it is an OG. The guy I bought that album from (and a bunch of others that I will be showing sometime this week) really took care of his records. He had some $3 ones that had some rougher covers, but his $10 records (like Trio) were immaculate. I'll definitely be watching for him to post more records on Marketplace. He promised to find me some REM.
There are quite a few album covers with out of focus shots and I am usually not a fan. I hope that Bad As Me is not Tom Waits last album. I like that Big Country cove as well and I recently picked it up on vinyl. I vote of the Deep Ear cover as the worst. LIke The Waterboys cover. Nice showing Mike.
I hope Waits does another album too, but I'm willing to pick up anything he does right now. I'm not usually a fan of out of focus shots, but occasionally you find one that isn't too bad. There are a lot of covers that are worse, but I have shown many in previous videos, so I was trying to find some that weren't already used.
Great selection of good and bad covers. Angels of Light is a strange, but interesting cover. That is a great GYBE cover. I have never see that Vangelis cover. It is terrible! I think I agree with all of your assessments 👍
@@EmbryonicRobot The only reasons I picked up that Vangelis album is because of the stupid cover and it is a rare cover in N America. I already had the other cover. That Angels of Light album is quite awesome. Michael Gira's voice fits the style quite well. A lot of people find his vocals way too harsh on the early The Swans albums and that scares them away from the Angels of Light project, but his style works for that music.
Ooh! That Tom Waits cover IS bad - and the title tells the truth! Is the whole album a bad joke - like the worst of him? ...I like that Pavlov's Dog cover, though... The Vangelis cover is bizarre but I like that one too! I would much rather have that cover than a different one... Now for "Deep Ear"...?? ...That Al Stewart cover is a disappointment as is the music inside. Generally I love Al Stewart's music but he did have a few clunkers! I can't think of any personal opinion bad covers right now except for 98% of religious music covers!
The alternate Vangelis cover is the better one, but it is also the one most available. The fact that that particular cover is not as easy to find makes it more desirable, but the design is probably the part that makes it bad at least in my eyes. The music on that Al Stewart album was definitely not as good as the two preceding it, but I found some of the tracks were pretty good, it just wasn't quite as consistently good....and it did take me a bit longer to find the few good tracks on it.

You always wonder what goes into the making of some of these album covers. How many drugs were involved lol
not enough for some...
