Capra Demon isn’t optional to the main story - it’s just that technically you can skip him and the entire next area if you have the Master Key and know where a shortcut is hidden. Killing Capra and going to The Depths is what you’re supposed to do. Nice work. Ps. Running past enemies in Dark Souls 1 and 2 is always, always, always a bad idea. They will follow you until the end of time.
@@lucidiously He is not talking about the skipping bosses. He is talking about the running past enemies while going to a boss fight. Because after the boss fight they will be waiting for you stacked. And its hard to kill enemies if they outnumbered you.
@@fatihhakkss Reread the first part of his comment, it talks about skipping bosses. And running past enemies is totally possible, Capra Demon is the only boss where you might run into enemies after the fight.
@@maj.peppers3332 You have to learn to weave and dodge past them, once you know how you can outrun them all off the time. The AI is incredibly predictable in DS1.
That dragon staying there is actually somewhat useful, because you can sit at the bonfire, head up the stairs, run to a safe spot, the dragon breathes fire, and you gain 555 souls from the enemies it kills. Go back down, sit down at the bonfire, and repeat, and you can grind a fair number of souls quickly there...
Quick tip. Try to lower your shield between hits. Makes your stamina regenerate much faster than holding it up all the time. Also you can buy uprgrade mats from the blacksmith.
So many fond memories come to live when I watch another old and unshaved dude having the same experiences and making the same mistakes as I did years ago. Love this content!

7:16 Just so you know when you're looking at shields if you want to actually see their parameters you need to press the "toggle display" button and look at the defenses on the right. A lot of new players get confused with the numbers you read :)
That final backstab was brutal making you lose your souls man. Good job on making it through Capra! Its so cool how this game teaches you bit by bit, consider how important the jump attack has been in every fight now. It teaches you the jump attack, that bosses can come up. You can fight the taurus up and then with the archers teaching you to go up and kill minions first. Which is important in capra. In capra a shield and armor helping alot with that too and some items (you only put on a helmet so you didnt end up noticing but still made it through). Capra demon def extreme pain tho. Respect for anyone that stays sane on a blind playthrough.
Capra Demon is optional but the key it droped will guide you to the "main quest". There are a couple of ways to get there that's why is optional. But you should go through that door regardless, there is a very good item that you dont want to miss down there.
A part of me is convinced that the Master Key was conceptualized exclusively so that players didn't have to fight the Capra Demon. EDIT: Yes I know there is another way, but it is far less likely to be discovered by the casual player.
@@tobitroyer9429 Maybe but how does this matter, most things in these games become quiet simple with knowledge. Capra Demon is designed to piss you off. I love that this game beats other people up as hard as it beat me - legit tears at a boss some ways further in than you are. But a funny note, you can rinse Capra Demon by lobbing firebombs over his boss fog in the right spot. There is no cheese that Capra and his puppers do not deserve for ganking you in a shoebox. The Capra Demon is definitely one of the bosses we rage against when playing (at least on the first playthrough), but after defeating it we share stories how the fight was the worst and enjoy hearing about each others' misery. ("Never again" - at least until the next playthrough.) =) Edit: Loved the "Defeat the Capra Demon with 3 hp damage drop attacks" strategy. =D
Hi man! Only just found your channel, currently binging your Bloodborne play through. It’s a shame I wasn’t here for it at the time as it’s my favourite game, but DS1 is a close second! If you don’t want advice for what to do rn, that’s awesome, but the area you’re about to go into can be pretty brutal So yeah, before you go down there you have a bunch of options. Main thing would probably be to get at least one ‘purging stone’ from the guy where you rang the bell. Going into the next area without them… chances are, you will really regret not having one because if you get cursed, it is absolute bs. I pray you won’t suffer the way I did the first time I went there. Also get a smithbox from Andre as once you commit to the next area it’s a huge pain to come back and you won’t see a blacksmith for a long time. I would recommend dipping your toes into the area until you pick up the ‘Large Ember’ (from behind a ‘butcher’ - you’ll know it when you see it) and then head back up to Andre, ascend the claymore (old faithful) and get the smithbox and you will be set for ages. Another thing would be to kill the guy at the bottom of that tower in the Undead Burg - he drops one of the best rings in the game. He’s very slow, so if you dodge his attacks then you can just circle around, backstab, rinse and repeat (a lot). It’s worth it though. Otherwise you can buy the buckler shield from the merchant there and use him to practice parrying while you’re at it (though this is a risky strategy). If you go back to firelink, maybe run around the area with the skeletons a bit, pick up some items. There’s some decent weapons there. You can also hop off the shortcut elevator and try some parkour. If you do it correctly you’ll find yourself in an area with a boss you’re probably not ready for, but if you run around a bit there are two items there which are definitely worth picking up (one of them necessary for later in the game, the very useful). This may be spoiler-ish but there’s a crow nest there as well that you can drop items into, and when you reload the area (using a homeward bone or dying) and return to it, something special will happen… perhaps leave this part for the end of your episode as the comments will likely have a lot to say about it, otherwise you can just look the relevant information up to help you out If you have read this far, I appreciate it, and I’m loving the content. You don’t need to do any of this stuff, but it will make things easier for you should you decide that you want to do it. Ultimately, I hope you keep enjoying the game
Awesome, I consider Capra to be the first major gatekeeper of the game so many people quit because of it. I would recommend re visiting the undead berg and going back under the bridge, use a bow and focus on the dragon's tail.
Fun fact : the boss sees through invisibility, but the dogs do not, using it will cause the Capra to advance alone, you can run to the left up the stairs where the 1st dog attacks when he hears you and then to the ledge after the kill for a much less chaotic opening to the fight .
Capra Demon is only technically optional. It's the intended path unless you use the master key or take a very long run through a few new, tougher areas and you know exactly where to go.
Don't worry about those lost souls. I've been through that EXACT pain in this game and have even lost 400k in Elden Rkng and 100k in Bloodborne. You WILL slowly earn it back Get that claymore reinforced and it will carry you through a lot of shit. this game can be brutal but you got this my dude
What you were looking at while examining the shields at the undead burg vendor was just the damage of the shields they would deal, if you would punch with them. You have to press square to change to the view where you see the damage resistances Also lmao yeah Capra demon is just plain stupid. Like they realized "Man this boss is weak af" so they put him in a way too small arena with 2 dogs. Second most unfair boss in the game
I have DEFINITELY lost that many souls, and MORE!!!! I feel ya! But you'll be fine!I I wish I had discovered that little trick with Capra. I took forever on him. Love watching you play. Keep it up!
Man, your growth is amazing, and well deserved, been watching since your first elden ring video, and every second spend watching one of your videos, is a second spend well😁
Aah, yes, Capra Demon. The boss where the actual boss is the room :P Well done figuring out the strat on your own! My partner had to tell me about the plunging attack trick in that corner because I was getting so frustrated that I didn't wanna continue the game, so nice work! Dude, that ending hurt. My soul died with yours as all your other souls died.....welcome to the club. We've all been there at some point. It's not just you. It sucks every time, but it's part of the game and you'll earn em back
That merchant behind bars that sells moss also sells an item called Alluring Skull. These can be thrown to attract normal enemies. When used correctly they make the prospect of running past enemies much more feasible. Hope it helps.
Man do I love watching these from software series you have, I'll watch this later since I'm at work but great work mati I hope you do choose to play subnautica sometime soon.

Oh man. In the best way this was such a fun episode. The Capra Demon is just an utter, utter pain (and I don't consider it optional. The Depths is a trip) but you found THE way to do him. Oh, the usual first-time Capra Demon experience. He stomps your ass while the fog wall animation is still playing and gets you to 10% HP, then its either the dogs or Capra's second swing that finishes you.
That place, New Londo, the dude at the Firelink Shrine told you about, below it? I'll always remember that as one of my scariest experiences: I just noped the hell outta there after a few minutes^^ never went back, which was a mistake, but... Well you'll see^^
I just love how a cheese is discovered - that’s awesome Mati.🤩 It hurts so bad in the end, to lose all the hard earned souls (well…) like that. Yes it happens to all of us I think - I would have hit level 100 by now if I didn’t lose any souls. Congrats on 9K!🎉

The Capra Demon is definitely one of the bosses we rage against when playing (at least on the first playthrough), but after defeating it we share stories how the fight was the worst and enjoy hearing about each others' misery. ("Never again" - at least until the next playthrough.) =)
Edit: Loved the "Defeat the Capra Demon with 3 hp damage drop attacks" strategy. =D
Getting lost in Undead Burg on the first playthrough? Classic!
Seriously though, i always smile when you say that. 😅
The backstab! I’m dying bro!!
"Did that ever happen to you?" Oh, the memories. The horror. The pain.
Hi man! Only just found your channel, currently binging your Bloodborne play through. It’s a shame I wasn’t here for it at the time as it’s my favourite game, but DS1 is a close second!
If you don’t want advice for what to do rn, that’s awesome, but the area you’re about to go into can be pretty brutal
So yeah, before you go down there you have a bunch of options.
This may be spoiler-ish but there’s a crow nest there as well that you can drop items into, and when you reload the area (using a homeward bone or dying) and return to it, something special will happen… perhaps leave this part for the end of your episode as the comments will likely have a lot to say about it, otherwise you can just look the relevant information up to help you out
If you have read this far, I appreciate it, and I’m loving the content. You don’t need to do any of this stuff, but it will make things easier for you should you decide that you want to do it. Ultimately, I hope you keep enjoying the game
Dude I appreciate you being here and leaving all these great tips! Thank you and happy to hear you’re enjoying the vids ❤
Hell yeah bro!! I rang my second bell last night and got cursed on my way out of blighttown. I have a squishy worm head now 🤷🏼♂️
Worm head? The one where you can attack with?
@@thestormkage yes 😭
@@johnnyhellkite6347 never got it saw it though 😂 it evolves or something right?
@@thestormkage it’s a soul stealing parasite but it’s really “grown” on me lol
@@johnnyhellkite6347 yeah grown on you definitely
Awesome, I consider Capra to be the first major gatekeeper of the game so many people quit because of it. I would recommend re visiting the undead berg and going back under the bridge, use a bow and focus on the dragon's tail.
"This place goes deep man"

Matias: *slays Ludwig, The Holy Blade in 3 attempts
Also Matias: *instant rekt by Capra Demon
Lets goooo! Always happy to see Mati exploring Lordran
Fun fact : the boss sees through invisibility, but the dogs do not, using it will cause the Capra to advance alone, you can run to the left up the stairs where the 1st dog attacks when he hears you and then to the ledge after the kill for a much less chaotic opening to the fight .
Really enjoying this playthrough, more dark souls please, more, more, MORE
I gotchu!
Capra Demon is only technically optional. It's the intended path unless you use the master key or take a very long run through a few new, tougher areas and you know exactly where to go.
I would recommend you to go through the deps cuz it is another way to the bell 🔔
Aggreeee need tooo
Don't worry about those lost souls. I've been through that EXACT pain in this game and have even lost 400k in Elden Rkng and 100k in Bloodborne. You WILL slowly earn it back
Get that claymore reinforced and it will carry you through a lot of shit. this game can be brutal but you got this my dude
What you were looking at while examining the shields at the undead burg vendor was just the damage of the shields they would deal, if you would punch with them. You have to press square to change to the view where you see the damage resistances
Also lmao yeah Capra demon is just plain stupid. Like they realized "Man this boss is weak af" so they put him in a way too small arena with 2 dogs. Second most unfair boss in the game
Incredible! Thank you kindly 🫶🏽
You can be just as unfair as the boss and cheese him with firebombs from outside the arena
@@Childofbhaal if you're playing the game blind there is an almost 0% chance a person will do this. Not everybody Googles how to cheese a boss lol
@@moosepotato4116 Nobody mentioned anything about playing the game blind. Just that the boss is unfair and it’s really not
“Relax guys” he says to the torch hollows and then proceeds to murder them all.
God damn this playtgrough is wonderful. Can I just say the editing is perfection too.
I have DEFINITELY lost that many souls, and MORE!!!! I feel ya! But you'll be fine!I I wish I had discovered that little trick with Capra. I took forever on him. Love watching you play. Keep it up!
Amazing chest ahead,
try two-handing!
Yaaaas 🙌🏽
The level design in this game is goated beyond belief. Why I keep coming back and back and back to it. I love this game so much.
Man, your growth is amazing, and well deserved, been watching since your first elden ring video, and every second spend watching one of your videos, is a second spend well😁
Hey Mati! Sending some good vibes your way, and hope you're doing ok!
You too brotha! It’s the best day of the week so I’m stoked 😁 all the best!
My friends call me lame for finding cheese in boss fight. Weeeell it gets the job done. Nice video man!
It sucks every time, but it's part of the game and you'll earn em back
Yes!!! Thank you for giving me the highlight of my day!!! Also congrats on the subs matias!!!✌🎉🎊
You too sweet ^_^ Thank youu 🙌🏽
classic
Classic indeed
I was like, NO! Mati! Don’t take that path after the Capra Demon fight! It’s TOO PER-RILLY-US!
Anytime someone starts their first playthrough of Dark Souls I immediately look for their Capra Demon fights. Such a ridiculously designed boss fight.
Absolutely loving your content! Keep doing what you do bro 🤘
Best of luck at work brotha 🫵🏽 def will be checking subnautica!
@@matiasgago it's def a chill game majority of the time a good pickup and play game
@@matiasgago its been a year
super suggestion: buy that short bow from the merchant and shoot the tail of the bridge drake a bunch and make him leave.
Going through the worst break-up ever man. Just wanna say your vids and personality help me out immensely brother! Thank you. And yes the Capra demon is a tricky bugger.
i found you on the demon souls playthrough. i too had played elden ring and no other souls games. i am going through them as well now in order. these are so fun to watch as i progress through the games and then watch you progress.
Oh man. In the best way this was such a fun episode. The Capra Demon is just an utter, utter pain (and I don't consider it optional. The Depths is a trip) but you found THE way to do him. Loved your reaction.
And everyone who has ever played DS has lost more souls than that. Just From's way of keeping you sharp.
Keep being you dude. Nothing but good vibes here. 👌✌️
And that is why you never go for a walk without your Stepbro. Dogs need to learn.
great vid, keep it up 👍
Nearly 10k! Great work well deserved.
Capra was my first big hurdle in my youth... Just the speed was too much lol. After Bloodborne he's like a slug in comparison haha
The greatest game experience ever. Dark Souls changed my expectations of gaming.
Awesome video and great job!! Keep that humanity going!! ❤️
I've been watching your content and was wondering what you played on I'm not that good at dark souls 1 but it's nice to now and early enemies can be beaten easily with it if you have the skill required. Love the playthrough bro, its so pure
Oh, the usual first-time Capra Demon experience. He stomps your ass while the fog wall animation is still playing and gets you to 10% HP, then its either the dogs or Capra's second swing that finishes you.
Anddddd the ending of the episode is A CLASSIC CASE AND POINT TO USE YOUR SOULS AFTER A BOSS YOU WILL LOSE THEM LIKE THAT 😂❤️
My man picked up Berserk! Buckle up homie. Love the videos.
That place, New Londo, the dude at the Firelink Shrine told you about, below it? I'll always remember that as one of my scariest experiences: I just noped the hell outta there after a few minutes^^ never went back, which was a mistake, but... Well you'll see^^
Dude i love your vids so much, literally look forward to all your uploads, keep up the great work!
Man, that final bit. I felt that pain in my SOULLLLLLLLLLLLL
