  • Following an intensive ten-week programme of work, rail passengers are now on the move again after our experts worked around the clock to safely reopen Nuneham Viaduct ahead of schedule.
The railway between Didcot and Oxford, which carries more than 100 passenger services and 40 freight trains a day, was closed on Monday 3 April after significant movements in the 160-year-old viaduct were detected and it was deemed unsafe for use.
Around 800 people have worked nearly 60,000 hours to successfully deliver this complex and challenging project. #ExpertEngineers

Nice to see a major engineering project being done so quickly and successfully, also good that we now get these video clips being put out so that everyone can see how complex the job was.

As someone who was significantly affected by this work, I think it's only right to give credit where it's due. I was highly sceptical that it would open in accordance with the dates that were given out early on... but then it did. Hats off for some impressive work by all concerned!
